  1. First let me say...Amy, YOU ARE HOT!!!!! Any woman that enjoys astronomy is hot to me.!

I was thinking Mars when I read the thread, or Beatlguise (sp) as well.

I have several Telescopes and the latest I purchased is a 6" Achro. I have been looking for a very long time for a 10" or 12" Schmid (sp).

In our new home, where ever that may be, I'm going to build an observitory with power etc. Nothing fancy, a shed more or less with a retractable roof sort of thing.

However, as of late, I have enjoyed just a pair of binoculars. Pretty easy to use ;)

Oh yea, Amy, I like the new picture!

  2. Mud, welcome! I think some of the guys that responded to you didn't mean to offend and they acrually have one heck of sense of humor.

To answer your question, I think all companies go though quality control issues from time-to-time. I've personally bought 5 sets of NEW klipsch speakers and actually had problems, from the factory, with RF-7's and RS-7's. Both were taken care of in a very friendly manner that I was OK with. Some folks thought the earlier reference line had speaker cover issues with plastic clip...i did...and they later changed them to magnets.

So, this was a very interesting thread....

AMY, your banned for arguing with Thebes whom very well may be the next president of the United States.

Richard, na na nanana...you got in trouble, nananannana

All other, keep up the good work.

Mud, hang in there buddy, before too long you'll be slinging mud and taking names!

  3. Your right Thebes, I do have a few in my collection, and didn't even know it. I currently have a Denon 2800 MKII that plays them. They are much fuller in sound stage, etc.

I hate to hear they don't make them any more...Oh well, back to my betamax.

  4. I can say that I have a set of Forte II's in my 2-channel rig. I've never heard the Chorus or Cornwalls. What I can say is HOLY COW! These Forte II's are absolutely amazing! The have very nice detail and the bass is unbelievable.

I have had KLF-20's and currently do have Modded RF-7's and a set of RF-3II's. The Forte's can hold there own against the RF-7's and might just have deeper bass. Anyway, I asked a question sometime ago and Joe Sporter said I would think "How the hell does so much bass come from such a small speaker" and he was right...I think that always.

I'm powering mine with a Marantz 2385 which has 185 WPC and never have turned it up past 1/10th I believe.

  5. I have been moving full steam ahead with this rig. The current set-up is as follows:

    AMP: Marantz 2385

    SPEAKERS: Forte II's

TURNTABLE: Rega P2 with RG250 tone arm and upgraded platter (in shop now being repaired)

CD PLAYER: Denon MK2800 II DVD player (Had a very nice CD aspect to it)

I am considering a new dedicated CD player. The ones I've heard folks talk about here is Jolida vacuum tube. What others should I consider in this price range? Another thought is to buy a Denon 5900 for my theater and move my Denon 2900 here so I can get SACD.

    All thought appreciated!

    Thanks

    Phil

  6. I've heard that as well and simply can't imagine more bass. I think these Fortes have as much bass as more RF-7's. However I feel the RF-7's could handle more "input" and deliver more "output".

I am now very interested in the crossover upgrade!

What I like about these Forte II's is their small foot print at big sound! I am amazed EVERY SINGLE TIME I play these now!

I honestly was going to go with a set of B & W's on my 2 channel set-up as I really like their sweet sound and design for most of them....Now I doubt I ever will.

  7. I revently purchased a set of Forte II from a brother forum memeber here. Let me just say, I am BLOWN AWAY with the sound reproduction of these little MONSTERS.

The bass is absolutely UNREAL. I am driving these with a vintage marantz 2385 reciever and I find that I have to turn the bass down a bit just to listen.

The detail I have been missing with three way speakers is unbelievable. I am now in a quest to get a good CD player as I have a very good Denon MK 2800 II, but feel I can do better. My turntable is in the shop for repairs and I'm going full steam.

I would be interested to hear what others think of these compared to say Herseys, Cornwalls, and Choras.

    Thanks

    Phil
