  1. Not yet, but heard good things. I'm in I/e now and still can't post my first one, any tips out there?
  2. Does firefox work or do I have to use explorer?
  3. I am now, and I agree, they sound incredible when you consider the age. Tom
  4. I may try the bathtub thing, maybe oxyclean, in memorial of Billy Mays, he was from Pittsburgh.
  5. Along with the vintage horns the owner gave me a lot of literature. Including 1954,1957, and 1959 price lists. I'm going to try to scan them into this thread. Tom
  6. I don't think they smoked, they are just dirty from age, funky looking. I'm getting a digital camera this week Tom
  7. I concur about Neil and his son. The only thing that didn't go smoothly was the neighbors sprinkler system. I'm loving the khorn sound by the way. Tom
  8. Tom I think I'll keep them[]! I've been listening to my old Cd's mostly. There is a lot more definition with the Khorns, especially in the bass department. I listen to a lot of bluegrass and jazz and I am hearing lots of bass I didn't know was there, very subtle, but more pronounced in the khorns. I'm impressed that fifty year old speakers can sound so great. I have great corners in my gameroom/basement and these far outshine my 'scala's. I am using one MC250 through a Peach and it sounds great. I even broke out the reel to reel to use a media more age appropriate. Later today I'm going to hook Tom's old 222C up and play some vinyl. I'm glad i'm on vacation this week so I can really experiment. Does anybody have any recommendations for cleaning the grill cloth? It's actually in great shape, just a bit dirty. Thanks Tom
  9. Just Cleaned and treated the contacts with Caig's and am ready to fire them up. Get back to you in several hours.
  10. Michael, trust me, I thought about it, that was one of the biggest Dick moves I've ever seen. Thank God the Speakers were in the truck. I don't know what some people are thinking, cardboard on the lawn for 30 minutes isn't the end of the world. Tom, thanks for the offer, I am going to listen for a while, just started hooking them up now. Tom
  11. Neil: The 54 has the trusonic. They both look brand new, I bet they were never opened, I had a hard time. They are in my basement ready to be hooked up tomorrow. Can't wait. I still can't believe that guy next door turned on the sprinkler, he was an ***. I averaged 20 MPG back to PGB, not bad for a 4wd Ranger with a 4.0 liter. Tom
  12. Just checked the woofers, look like brand new. One is a blue Stevens Tru Sonic, the other An EV. Does anybody know if they will sound different. The bolts had a very light, talcum powder like substance on them. I will hook them up tomorrow, long day, must sleep. Not enough Rock star. Tom
  13. I'm officially a Khorn owner. I want to give MAJOR thanks to Neal and his son for the help. Actually they did most of the work. They horns were in great shape and have a cool history. The original owner bought the first one in 1954 with his income tax refund and the second one the same way two years later. Apparently the original owner had a lot of old audio stuff that was sold before the horns. The trip from Pittsburgh to Ferndale was 664 miles round trip. I sort of got lucky with the timing, no rush hour involved. I just brought in the top sections and the grills so I'm going to get the rest done before dark. The crossovers are huge, 500-5000's. one with uncoated wire one without. They are 16 ohms. I hope my mc250's in mono sound good, if not it's back to a single, it's enough power anyways I'm sure. I also got some brochures with the speakers, including original 1955 stuff in great shape. I will try to scan and post it, it's my reading for the night. I probably won't get to fire them up until tomorrow. Tom.
  14. The trucks loaded and I'm ready to hit the road early. Tom
  15. Can I just use Hossa Detroit jerseys as moving pads, I'm sure I can pick up some cheap. Our Pittsburgh supply is almost gone.
