  12. the buzzing comes when there is a nalog signal being sent make sure that the dvd player is sending digital out

It instead of using the mains to send to the subwoofer, it has a separate rca cable that sends signals to the subwoofer. Phase on the subwoofer means which phase to put it in there should be 0, 90, 180. Usually it is either 0 or 180. To know what that means try it in all frequencies and listen for which one is loudest.
