  1. Hello - I just got my Velodyne DD-12 last week to handle its duties with my RF-35 system. I ran the DD-12 EQ to match up with my other speakers. I started playing DVD-A and SACDs from my Pioneer Elite DV-45a and noticed that the bass level was really low from the Multi Ch Input mode on my RX-V1500. In DTS and Dolby modes from regular DVD material, the bass level is right where it needs to be. When I play DVD-A and SACDs, I need to raise the volume on the sub considerably (around 20 units) for it to sound right. My questions are: 1. Are my crossover settings/levels ignored on Multi Ch Input? I have all speakers set to small with the crossover set at 80. 2. Do I boost the sub levels on the DVD player, receiver, or sub itself? I don't want the signal to be processed more than needed. I just want to be able to listen to different media without having to change a bunch of settings around all the time. I have all my levels set up how I want them, but it seems that switching into Multi Channel Input from Coax screws everything up. Thanks!
  2. I think I'm set on a Velodyne DD-15. I was going to get the 12, but the dealer I'm getting it from is selling his DD-15 from his theater to make room for the Velodyne 1812 (cripes). I'm getting a considerable discount, so I'm going to shoot for it.
  3. Ears - baby... talk to me. I have narrowed it down to 3. Sunfire Sig EQ, Velodyne DD-12, or Paradigm Seismic 12. I listened to the Sig EQ and had the impression that I felt more than I heard. Maybe it wasn't properly set up in the room. I dunno. I think I'm set on the Velodyne for it's more advanced EQ setup, yet I like the price of the Sunfire (about 500 cheaper). I want slam, and I've heard the Sunfire puts out more boom than slam. I need RSW-15 slam in a 15" cube. Will the Velodyne be a better pick? What about the Seismic 12 - haven't heard that one, perhaps you could tell me about your feelings. Thanks man! Ben Johnson
  4. I recently went to the woodshop on base and got the wonderful idea of resurfacing my speakers. I figured I could take measurements, dimension and finish panels for all the sides, then stick them on. I'd pretty much be able to pick what type of wood, color, finishes, ect. The ones I have now have the black finish. Has anyone ever tried this process? Klipsch Reference makeover!
  5. QUICK QUICK QUICK - I'm in a major dilemma. Sunfire Signature EQ or Sunfire Signature without the EQ? Is it worth the extra money? I found one used w/o the EQ that is signed by Bob Carver on each woofer. I'd like to get that one if there isn't a substantial listening experience. I've got YPAO but that only measures down to 63hz. Will I need the EQ to satisfy myself? Thanks
  6. Ears: This is for you buddy... I have an SVS 20-39 PC+ now. Trying to get it sold for something smaller. I've got RF-35 fronts, RB-25 rears, and a RC-35. Options are Sunfire Sig, Earthquake MKV-12, or a Paradigm Seismic 12. I know you've got at least 2 of those. How do they compare to each other? I need something that digs deep. The SVS has made me a fan of sub-25hz material. I listen to a lot of DVD-Audio and movies, but most of the listening is music. Shout out some direction so I can stop pulling out my hair. Thanks man MtBiker731
  7. Hello - I got my 1500 last week. I'm starting to get used to all the menus. I saw that the factory setting for D. Range is MAX. The other options are MIN & STD. Why isn't there an off option. I don't want dynamic range on at all. Is there some way to turn it off? What setting should I use. Thanks!
  8. Yo - I'm deciding to sell the 20-39PC+ for a Sunfire EQ or a Super Junior. Definately no room in my new living space for that cat tower. What will be the big differences minus the EQ feature between the two, and even the Signature? Thanks! Ben Johnson -Anyone interested in a trade perhaps? I'd be happy to throw in more $$ to make up for price differential.
  9. Hey - If anyone has a RC-25B in excellent condition that they're willing or trying to get rid of, please let me know. I just got some RF-35s to move into the 5.1 sound with my RB-25s. I'm gonna need that center channel before I go nuts. Having only 4 speakers is gonna kill me . Let me know and we can work out a deal! Ben Johnson
  10. Hi - I need a suggestion for a receiver for 2-channel music. I'll be using my RB-25s (75w at 8ohms) and my SVS PC+. Both were hooked to my Ultra 5.1 system before. I need a recommendation for a good receiver for a stand alone 2.1 system. I don't need a super duper $600 7.1 amp or anything, just something that'll throw out good sound. I was wondering if there's one that can set frequency crossovers for the I'm not a fan of low quality, but I don't need one with tons of features I won't use. Thanks! Ben Johnson

  12. I checked out a new audio store in town and see what they had to offer for subs. I was looking for something in the 800 range. Turns out the guy offered to let me take a PSB SubSonic 6i home for demo. Finally I know what HT subs sound like. How would this compare to my prospective SVS 20-39+? Anyways, not my main question at hand, but I'd like to hear some insight. I listened to some A.E. (Acoustic Energy) Aegis Evo 1 bookshelf speakers and was impressed. I have now been on the upgrade train since I read 007's post on upgrading Ultra sats to RSX-4s. How do RSX-4s or 5s compare to the Evo 1s? And also, would they be a good implementation into the Ultra speaker set? The speakers are 100w max / 8ohms. As always, thanks in advance!
  13. I'm sure you've answered this question a thousand times. But a lot of money is on the line, so I wanna be sure I'm gonna spend it correctly. Paradigm PW 2200 or SVS 25-31 PC+ I auditioned the paradigm yesterday and was impressed by how smooth and flat the sound was, yet was pronounced when it should have been. The SVS is much cheaper as I'm sure you know. I'm looking for an addon to my 5.1 Ultras. Yes, this is for my computer. I want my body to be saturated with bass like it should be. I'm more concerned with which hits lowest...as I listen to a lot of low toned electronica and rap. Not to mention, hearing the tones I've never heard out of DVDs is a must outta the new sub. Thanks man, I appreciate it. Others jump in too if you have opinions!
  14. I found a RW-12 for $475 shipped. Shipping 3 SWSs would cost almost $400. Is it recommended to go for the RW-12 for another 75, or the SWS trio? I have Ultras and just want superior bass. Ultras output some decent bass, but I want lower output, more shake factor, and obviously more volume. I really appreciate your opinions, thanks! Ben I have: -Ultras -Audigy2 -Belly button
