  1. On the other hand... A good friend of mine took delivery of a BDP-95 this week. He has promised to bring it over to my place over the weekend for a test in my system. If there isn't enough difference between it and my 93 to justify double the price I'll just keep the 93.

So what was the verdict? How does the 95 audio compare to the 93 audio?

  2. my music room will be a 3rd bedroom... so wont be big at all.

I think the forte's will be best for this size.. and i will be able to get power for them easier by selling other equip. But to get the la scalas i have to sell everything haha.

I guess its all going to depend on if i can get the funds before the scalas sell.

    Thanks for the input guys.

I have had both and both are great speakers in the right applications. Right now I have the Fortes and only sold the La Scalas due to being out of a job.

Get the Fortes now due to the smaller room and save for La Scalas later when you get a house.

  3. I upgraded my Fortes crossovers to a new pair of Crites crossovers about two months ago and liked what I heard.

So I moved on to Crites tweeter diaphragms and liked what I heard. After a couple of weeks I realized that I still liked the new tweeters but the midrange did not blend with the bass and the tweeter like before any upgrades. What I always liked about the Fortes is how the bass, midrange, and highs blended together one not overpowering the other two.

So I figured go ahead and get Crites midrange diaphragms and after two weeks the midrange sounds much better. Everything is balanced again.[:D][Y]

Now this is on my system and what I hear.

  4. I recently replaced my networks on my forte II with BC networks, as well as the BC provided Titanium diaphragms. I did the networks first, it was as if a veil was lifted off the speakers. Bass, mids, and highs much more detailed than before. I added the replacement tweeter titanium diaphragms about 2 weeks later and was impressed again. I just ordered the replacement mid-range diaphragms from BC and will be replacing those sometime next week once I receive from Bob Crites. I will report back ater they burn in.

We did the same things and I got the same results John did![:D]

I suspect we will have similar results with the midrange diaphragms.

  5. BTW, if you go ahead with them, be VERY careful when handling the new diaphragms; the titanium is roughly the thickness of aluminum foil, and you don't want to touch or make contact with anything on them (I dented one in slightly while handling them, but was able to restore it back to position with no visible tearing...)

I did the exact same thing![:S] Just be careful if they do not fit in place easily.

I just sent off the money for the midrange diaphragms so late next week I'll let you know what I think.

  6. The HBO miniseries The Pacific is out on DVD/Blue ray so I went over to rent the blue ray version and it was not available. So I compromised and got the regular dvd and the picture was very good thru the PS3. Now I want to get the blue ray version.

I think another thing that makes a difference is the quality of your HDTV. Mine is about 3 year old Tech, a Sony that has a very good HD picture but the ones out this year are better. So is your HDTV 2-3 years old or is it a 2010 model? The tech in my tv is over three years old but a 2010 HDTV tech is probably only about 1 year old so it should show the difference between blue ray dvd and regular dvd.

  7. the sound is more laid back than stock midrange. Also Bob is working on developing a titanium diaphragm for the midrange as well.

That is okay they are not too expensive so I can try em out. If they are not quite what I want I can try whatever titanium diaphragm for the midrange Bob comes up with.

After in stalling the crossovers the midrange seemed a bit bright to me but after installing the titanium diaphragm for the tweeters it helped but having the midrange tamed a little more might work in my system.
