  1. For sale on ebay are a pair of k400's (metal) out of my 1980 La scalas if anyone is interested. Includes two new gaskets. Excellent condition. http://search.ebay.com/klipsch-k-400_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8 Thanks Kevin Smith
  2. Justin, I tried to respond to your PM, but it won't go through and I can't get in touch any other way. I am interested, please email me at kevinjsmith@ev1.net to discuss further. Thanks Kevin
  3. Hi all, I am replacing the capacitors in AA "oil" crossovers. I think I am using Hovland musicaps for the two 2 uf capacitors, but would like to hear your thoughts/recommendations/experiences on the 13uf capacitor before deciding - the prices on the 13 uf capacitors get a little steep. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays. Kevin
  4. Would you drop me an email if you still have the sub? kevinjsmith@ev1.net. Thanks
  5. Dear forum viewers, The pictures did turn out a lot harsher than they look in real life. These are a factory black finish and were never repainted, just waxed. Kevin
  6. 89 LSFB La Scala's with stock AA crossovers, original drivers k-33, k55m and k77m. Driven by tube amps mainly. I thought I would list here before I make other efforts to sell. Work perfectly, sound wonderful and are in good condition with some minor cosmetic scratches. They have been waxed with furniture wax and have a finish that is kind of like a black piano. For pick up or I may help deliver within an hours drive of Houston under the right conditions. We all have a pretty good idea of the value of these. I will be fair on the price for forum members and ask that you be the same. I would like to get close to market value and am not in a great hurry to sell. These do not have the grills. Please email me if interested and I will get some pictures and serial numbers up in the next few days. I have had these for a little over a year, bought them from a forum member who has become a friend and the only reason I am selling is I have replaced them with the raw birch la scalas. I can handle two big speakers in a small house, but not four. Thanks Kevin
  7. Does anyone have an Al-3 (or newer crossover) to sell and/or trade? They are for '89 La scala's. I am willing to purchase outright, work out a purchase/trade for stock AA's if you are interested and also have an older HK tube amp that works and sounds great that we might be able to work into a trade if you are interested. I live in Houston. Thanks Kevin.
  8. The paint listed by others worked very well with mine. It was off, just a very small shade, but the following really helped. After the touch up is done, take a very fine 000 or 0000 steel wool and go over the entire painted area of the speaker enclosure. It helps remove defects in the paint and will help blend the original paint to the touch ups. It also puts a shine on it. After you have done that a good bit, get a product called "Butcher's wax" or a "Johnson's Paste wax." Both of these are furniture wax. Put on about two or three coats on it and buff it out well. I think you will be pleased with the results. You can get the wax at most hardware stores. It gives the black a really nice smooth shine, like a piano (sort of) Good luck, Kevin
  9. Does anyone have any of the black grill cloth? I need enough for a side grill on a '90 model K-Horn, probably 44-48" x 15" or so. Happy to help defray your costs if you have any extra. Many thanks Kevin Smith
  10. Vette, Please email me a number where I can reach you or give me a call on these. My email is kevinjsmith@ev1.net and phone number is 713-789-4124. Thanks Kevin Smith
  11. Thanks. They look great. I am in Houston and am interested and would pick them up. I would be a cash buyer. Were you the original owner, have the horns or crossovers been modified? Is there anything that is not stock? Are you at all flexible on the price? If we can come to an agreement, I could get there most any weekend. Thanks Kevin Smith
  12. I will try it both ways and post my thoughts over the weekend. Thanks again, Kevmosmith
  13. D-Man, Thanks for the suggestion. On the La scala is the idea to completely cover the entire woofer basket with insulation, or just to put the insulation directly behind the woofer to "deflect" the "reflections"? Many thanks Kevmosmith
  14. Does anyone have a pair of AL crossovers that are gathering dust that they want to get rid of that are in good shape and working? If so, please respond and let me know the price. For '89 La Scala's. Thanks Kevin
  15. Greg, If you still need it they are 14" wide, 12" deep, 2 3/8" tall in the front and 5/8" in the back. If I were buiding a pair, I would keep the angle, but add 3/8" to the back and front. The 5/8" in the back is not real stout. Good luck and hope the response is still timely. Kevin
  16. Does anyone have an owners manual for the La Scalas that I could get a photocopy of? I have the 1989 models.
  17. Shawn, How much are you asking for the AL crossovers (pair)? (Assuming they are in good condition and working properly.) Thanks Kevin
