  1. greymd-- How do those RS3's work with the cornwalls? I have chorus II's for my mains, academy for center, and haven't figured out what to use for surrounds. I would love to get another pair of Chours II's, but to big....or some heresy's, again, to big.....so next logical would be rs3's or rs7's. Though I have thought to use rb5's or rb's. What do you think?

Smillin-- Getting rid of the 507?? You recomended it to me!! Is there a big difference with the 200.7 and preamp combo? Hope the HT works out for you man.

  2. I have been looking for a pair of surrounds that will match my Chorus II's. I have an Academy so I am set as far as center channel goes. According to the Forum, folks say that the Heresy works well for H/T.

I was thinking that maybe it would be better to build surrounds out of the same horns and materials the Chorus II's are made of. Wouldn't sound match better? Space is an issue. Surrounds have to be mounted on the wall, so another pair of Chorus II's is out of the question for the time being.

I don't know, maybe I'm thinking to much.

  4. How far do Chorus II speakers need to be apart to hit their sweet spot?

Listening to my recently purchased (black) Chorus II's sound very loud in the mid range and highs, but seem a little lacking as far as bass. May be because I haven't fooled around with my eq settings on my B&K 507, if there are any. I haven't checked yet due to time constraints.

These are still my dream speakers!

The B&K runs at 150rms/ 7 channels. I almost had this thing turned all the way up and the Chorus II's weren't clipping! I was amazed. The Chorus II speakers are rated @ 100rms. My young virgin ears had to back off!

    Hail Hail Chorus II's!

  5. Re-oiling Chorus II's

I just picked up a pair of Black Chorus II speakers yesterday. At the sweet price of $625. They sounded great and performed as they should. As for the condition of the box, a 7 out of 10. There were no nicks or chunks out of the wood, but some of the edges had the paint or oil worn off. I don't want to use a black oil pen for a quick fix.

#1. Does anyone know if Black factory finished Chorus II's are painted black or stained black?

#2. How do I refinish the black back to perfect condition?

I want these babies to shine! To pround of these

    "Bad Boys"!

  6. Smilin-

I would definetly be intrested! The only thing is I was going to finance the B&W 507. 0% for 15 months is great! But, maybe there's another way to go about getting funds.

I want to pick up the receiver this weekend, so let me know the details.

By the way Smilin, did you win that Academy on Ebay?

    My plans for surrounds----

A second pair of Black chorus II speakers for the rears as soon as I can locate them.

I was thinking about the RB-5II's or RB-75's for the surrounds and mounting them on the wall since I'm limited on space. One wall of the family room joins the eating area and kitchen. Luckily there is a small wall I can mount that surround where the room joins the other. Kinda hard to explain wihtout a picture or plan. All I know is that 3way speakers are out of the question for the surrounds at this point in time.

Do you think RS-7's would be a better choice for surrounds.

  7. So here it goes.....

Picking up a pair of Black Chorus II speakers tomarrow, hopefully an Academy on Friday and the B&K 507 with the Monster 2600 line conditioner on Saturday! The SVS will hopefully be ordered nexy month.

Any comments? I'm still trying to get into the swing of things. Is it a good start?

  8. I'm picking up a pair of Chorus II's this week. This is the begining to my HT system. I have been doing a lot of reasearch and thought I found the perfect receiver/amp combo....The B&K 5007! Then the price....$3,000. I know It just came down a grand, but can't it come down another two?

I have seen the Yamaha rx-v1400 and have been told it's a great combo for the $$. Will I be happy with this selection and could I live with it for the next year and a half before an upgrade is in order?

I'm just getting back into the home audio thing, and it's getting too addictive. And $$$$ expensive. Oh well, at least I don't have to deal with a wife anymore.
