  1. Bought a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 off eBay (I know, smart, right? [:S] ) and they do not work. Connecting them up, I get nothing. No light, no electrical hum, nothing. I'm hoping it's not a stack of problems, but a cursory examination of the outside of the amp identifies what might be an obvious issue. Referencing this pictures, here, you'll note there is something IN the circular hole marked "fuse". Well, I don't have anything there. It's just a big hole. Looking into it, it appears to be a fairly straightforward socket...just empty. I think in the "refurb" process, someone removed the fuse and just forgot to put it back. So I guess the question is two-fold: Is this external fuse critical enough that I would see these symptoms (literally NO effect of turning it on - no buzz, click, nothing, it's like a giant lead weight). I'm guessing, given it's externally-accessible, it IS that important, so this is 'yes', but confirmation would be nice. If so...what part # do I need? I have read in a few places that Radio Shack sells something that would work as a replacement for $2 or so...but nobody mentions what part # is is. Which is a problem, as I obviously don't have an original to compare it to! The Klipsch documentation is...unhelpful. Reading the back of the sub, the label under the fuse states: T2A 250v. So...2amp, 250v, 'slow blow' fuse, right? That's good, but...no dimensions! I find some parts at Lowe's that looked like they fit that spec - here - but the appropriate fuse just won't fit in the socket; too big. In any case, taking the fuse out of my GMX-A 2.1 set, it looks like most the size of the socket is from the HUGE plug module. Which I'm also lacking (I had a hairbrained idea of mounting a fuse and using some conductive strips to finish the circuit, but that clearly won't work given what I see, now). In case the point is missed - that is something I'm also missing. The "plug" part that goes over the fuse to secure it into the amp. Wasn't shipped! I've since contacted the seller, but I'm not sure he can do anything but accept a full return (which just seems like a silly waste of time and shipping cost to replace something so ridiculously trivial). Is there any way I can get these parts I'm missing?
  2. Hmmmm....how do these compare in size to the GMX 5.1 sub? As I mentioned above, thinking about it.... Really don't have room to place one NEXT to it, but I could stack them maybe....
  3. ---------------- I will never put my credit card numbers on my computer for the hackers to play with.....If a company with not accept my credit card over the phone or a personal check by mail I don't do business with them. ---------------- You realize the funny thing about that, though, right? As soon as you give them your credit card over the phone (unencoded transmission - and from someone working in telephony, I can't even begin to describe some of the conversations I've heard over a TBERD at a switch)....first thing they do is plug it right into the computer you didn't want it to go do in the first place. Then, they transmit the number over the 'net for validation in an encoding format you don't apparently trust. The validation company receives this transmission, storing it in their computer, checks it against your credit record, and transmits a validation response BACK to Klipsch's phone rep's PC, whose software receives it and matches it up with the validation request sent out (since the number is stored here, too). Besides, if you REALLY want to be paranoid, how about paying with VISA at a restaurant? Have you bothered to take a look at how many restaurant receipts you leave laying at the table with the tip have your full CC number on them? Credit card theft happens. Doesn't matter if you never buy anything online *ever*. That's one of the least effective ways of getting credit cards, anyway. It's just one of the disadvantages we have to put up with due to the inherent advantages of the technology. Someone steals it, cancel it, get another. (And what '$50 limit'? You credit card company sends you an affadavit you sign saying such and such charges aren't yours, and you are not liable for a penny of them!)
  4. Yeah, kind of wondering myself. Just picked up a GMX 5.1 set, and was thinking about adding these at some date soon....
  5. You realize you can run into any local Radio Shack and pick up 12-gauge insulated copper speaker cable at about $0.99/foot, right? That'll be at least as good as Monster cable, and a fair site cheaper, to boot.
