When the moon is in the Seventh House
    And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

I had Hair on cassette tape when I was 10 years old (1970).  Had my parents listened to it, I would not have had it for very long.

I also saw Mars through my little 3" reflector telescope that year.  I was much more impressed by Saturn.

New power supplies, new caps, new LED's, everything cleaned and polished, tuner serviced. I have not listened to it yet as I'm offshore until Nov 4th.

OK thanks.  What did that set you back ($) if you don't mind me asking?

Yes I love those older receivers, just had two H/K 430's restored. These little H/K's sound wonderful with heritage Klipsch as Andy stated above. Next on the list will be one of the Pioneer BIG BOYS.

What all was done on your H/K 430s to restore them?

I have two H/K 430s.  One, I use on a regular basis with my Khorns for causal listening or tuning in to FM radio.  I don't think it sounds quite as good as it did when I got it 15 years ago, and it was not restored then.

In 1980, as a part of an engineering student conference, I toured the Shiva fusion reactor facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  I think they were at about 1% of net energy gain then.  I would have thought then, that 40 years later we would have achieved sustained net energy gain, and maybe even commercial fusion power generation.

To be honest 82* is a bit cool for me but I just couldn't bring myself to bump the heater on for a 30 minute dip

I don't have a pool heater.  I figure, when the weather is right to swim, it's time to swim.  When it's not, it's not.  It's also one less thing I need to maintain LOL.

It is getting cool. No snow ...yet. It may be coming this afternoon. 1 degree right now, -4 tonight.

97F in my back yard, pool temp is 78F.  A little cooler water than I prefer, but I think I will take one last dip for the season today.

Looks like Delta hit land.  Heading straight for Lake Charles. Those people can't catch a break.  I really feel for them.

One of my favorite Lucinda Williams songs.  Good luck to the good folks in Lake Charles tonight.

This is one BIG supporter of going to Mars, Robert Zubrin:

In 2011, I attended a meeting of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, with Zubrin as guest the speaker.  After the program I bought his book.  He ask what my children's names were, and below is how he signed the book.  He has a very compelling plan for going to and colonizing Mars.

Sound would be going faster than the speed of sound. On a trip to Mars that is.

Probably just a small shift in frequency inside the spacecraft.  You'll get used to it and never notice.

  10. Most Americans eat too often, and eat to many processed foods containing sugars, refined grains and seed oils.  Tastes good, easy to prepare, makes the big food companies very profitable, and makes us fat.  Even the "low fat" foods make us fat because the fat was replaced with sugar or HFCS to make it taste better.  We are clearly a fatter society than what we were just 30 years ago.

    RIP

I had no idea he was 65, man I'm getting old.

Yep, a lot of us are getting old, and it slips up fast on us.  The LP on the right in my post above, I've had for 40 years, and I remember well the first time I played it.
