  1. I'm not sure which topic gets re-hashed more on this forum...the latest receiver recommendations or the quality of speaker wire so let me jump in on receiver recommendations. I've got $900 to $1K to spend on a receiver. I've had it with my Onkyo 709 reliability and I'm giving up. I've been looking seriously at the Pioneer Elite stuff lately and have never used it before but the more I research, the more good stuff I find. Let me know if you think something different? I'm currently looking at last years SC-63 and SC--65 and comparing that with this years SC-72 and SC-75. The 75 is over my budget but might come down. Give me the scoop on reliability, sound quality and ease of operation on these units? The Harman Kardon stuff just doesn't seem to have the build quality it used to which is very disappointing (I've just seen too many bad reviews on the 3700). Hit me with it!
  2. Time to bump these back up to the top! They're still for sale.
  3. Oh come on now....you can't seriously think that Cincinnati to Florida is too far of a drive can ya? At least in the winter I can tempt you with Disney World or the beach. There's not a whole lot I can tempt you with in the summer except....well....good speakers. Thanks anyway for the bump!
  4. I've had a some nibbles from a couple of "fairly" local guys on the forum but in both cases they had a story that fell into a similar category. "Would like them but it's not the right timing to be spending the money". Nice folks to deal with by the way ..and another by the way, I'm 30 minutes south of the Space Shuttle (about 3-ish hours from Venice). Let's see now...$900 is about 5 credit hours of college depending on where you go? She could skip a semester and I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem with your wife....right?!?!?!?!
  5. ...and I thought I got up early in the morning! Got your PM Rennoc. I'll call you later today(Tuesday).
  6. Fresh bump for May... Still looking for a buyer.
  7. Hey Bill! I can't tell from the picture and don't have time to dig it up on the net right now. Does your 200x5 have a 12V trigger?
  8. It sounds like a road trip to sunny Florida in the thick of winter would suit you just fine! (Putting on my salesman hat again) I've got my 1994's up for sale for $900 right now... The family could spend the day at Disney in 75 degree sun and you could stop by and pick them up on the way home!!!
  9. It's funny how you see something for sale and your immedate reaction is "no" (or "no way my wife would let me spend money on that")...and then time starts tickin and tickin and all of the sudden your actually considering it. Too funny.... Bottom line is that they're sitting at my house and not going anywhere until someone's interested. So...I hope your car situation works out to your advantage (which may work out to my advantage). I would be willling to meet you somewhere half way but then you wouldn't get to audition them so we can talk when/if it comes to that. ...and yes...feel free to pass out my phone number to those who would be seriously interested. Thanks for your help.
  10. So nobody needs to make a road trip to warm, tropical Walt Disney World in the middle of a nasty, icy cold winter!? I'm only an hours drive from Orlando. The whole family could come. You just might have to make them sit outside your vehicle on your drive back once you put the La Scala's inside...They'll get over it!
  11. Lot of nice things said! Thanks guys!
  12. This would make quite the sound stage with my Harman Kardon AVR 7200 that's currently for sale as well on another post. (Got to put my salesman hat on a little bit....). Here's the pic of the 7200. 7.1 channels at 100wpc.
  13. ...and this parts not for sale but I thought I'd just throw the photo in there since it was close by. It's my 1965 Ringo Classic set. I have all the original pieces including the white pearl snare that goes with it but I have a couple of pieces swapped out for now.
  14. I'm getting sadder the further I go here....
  15. I tried convincing the wife that these would look great in the family room but after two years of trying, it just hasn't worked so...it's time to let them go. They are 1994 La Scala's with consecutive serial #'s (0534933230 and 3231), LS BIR LAC with light water staining on the tops and down in the bins from the previous owner and yes...they sound absolutely awesome. There are no grills but I don't believe any were intended for these. My woodworking friend who knows much more about wood than I says they'd be easy to clean up. I would really like to get $900 for them as I'm trying to build up a little cash to switch over to separates. I live in Melbourne, Florida over on the East coast. Obviously, I would prefer local pickup on these. I took a bazillion photo's and tried to post the worst case staining between the two speakers. I have lots more pics if someone needs to see them. Despite what the photos' may show, the wood matches perfectly with each other. There is one spot on the top back where the veneer has popped off. I stuck a penny next to it for scale. Did I mention that they sound awesome! It's really good that I love my wife this much..... Oh yeah, there are markings inide the back of the cabinets where the AL-3's are that appear to be from the factory. It almost looks like someone traced out a cut or glue pattern and decided they didn't like it and turned the wood over and used it. This doesn't effect sound or cosmetics as it's up inside. I'll post a pic of that as well.
  16. Man you guys make things difficult[]
