  1. Hi, I got my speakers and built my current theater room when Atmos and DTS:X were spanking new, still made out well at 17x24”, but only 8ft ceiling. I'm about to relocate and build another room. With 904 mains, 2 884 subs and 8060 surrounds, 4 12” ceiling speakers, what would an ideal size be?
  2. I've been in sonic heaven ever since the last post. Forgot to post that right after Xmas I sold the last of my three amps and bought the 11ch Yamaha amp, it's been smooth/clear sailing ever since!
  3. Sold the 5ch amp in a local Craigslist sale. Down to just to the 2 channel amp which has no issues!
  4. Indeed it did, and it led and an interesting revelation. Seems the 2 channel amp I have could be collectible! The back clearly says "5/1500A", and there are blanks for 3 more channels in between the two. Looking online the 5/1500A is indeed supposed to be a 5ch amp! So what I have is some kind of manufacturer screw up, or a prototype or something.
  5. Up for sale is my trusty old Pioneer 1120. It comes with the original remote, manual box, calibration mic AND the Bluetooth module which was sold separately for around $80 if I recall. The unit is in excellent condition, I mostly used it as a preamp. 7.1 AV Receiver 120 Watts per Channel Works with iPhone 6 HDMI Inputs Bluetooth Front-Panel GUI Sirius Satellite Ready Advanced Surround Sound 3D-Compatible MCACC Asking $250 shipped in the US. Will ship in the original box. Any questions feel free to ask.
  6. What issues would I have? None that I'm aware of. One thing that's cool is I can turn off the other amps and just listen to what the Atmos speakers are doing. When playing the scene back with all speakers engaged the effect blends nicely.
  7. My .02, I use the 8060's as side and rear surrounds and regular Reference CDT-3800ii in ceiling speakers for Atmos and it sounds pretty phenomenal. My room is 17ft wide, yours being 14ft the slightly smaller 8000's might be the better choice.
  8. Oh, the speakers are raised so that their within the screen, so the frame wouldn't obstruct in any way.
  9. dremel, then sand then black paint and boom! Perfect amp after that. Only thing that sucks about inukes is the looks. Well fans aren't great either but easily replaced Hehe, maybe I'll get to that point. I'm more considering doing a mod to add a trigger for it. Some guy on AVS supposedly has a way to wire it without the "shutdown thunk". I got a power strip where the preamp is plugged into the master outlet, and the iNuke is plugged into a slave outlet. Works to turn it on and off, but I get a rather loud shutdown thunk.
  10. I was not aware of the current sale, figures lol. Still, I'm in no dire rush, and it's an even better price if you buy em all!
  11. I do not know, can't find a brand logo on it anywhere. The iNuke can mount in it, holes line up perfectly. But the grips on the front of it make it stick out too far.
  12. Purely in the interest of saving rack space, I'm unloading these three monsters in favor of the Yamaha 11ch amp. Two of them have issues, read below. All thats left is the... Sherbourn 2ch, 5/1500A. No problems with this one at all, just two scratches on the front, pictured below, and it has XLR inputs! $300 shipped. I can ship abroad, but actual shipping charges apply. I am in Colorado Springs, for a local sale I'll negotiate pricing. Emotiva top, 5ch Sherbourn middle, 2ch Sherbourn bottom 2ch Sherbourn, note the scratches.
  13. Not sure. It has a little over 400 in it now. I would guess maybe 600 or less. Have you added them to blu ray.com? Blu-ray I like it when Im looking for a movie to watch. Would probably take you a few days to enter in 1400 lol. Actually I have my collection uploaded in DVD Profiler. I paid $25 for the program around the dawn of DVD and still use it to this day! Yeah the rack was a challenge, I picked it up for $100 on Craigslist, but shelving for those things is high, adds up when you need a dozen shelves. Shame the iNuke can't just mount in it, the was it mounts makes it stick out too far and I can't close the glass door.
  14. your welcome bro. I can't believe i found you a used set and so quickly. but very glad i did. we shall meet one day!! Yeah the whole thing just fell right into place all things considered. Yes we shall!
  15. Oh I was describing the AV rack shelving. How many does yours hold? It was best to turn the entire wall into shelving, I'm over 1,400 movies.
  16. I made the shelves myself, cut some L track from Home Depot down to size, then just set some shelves I cut on them, after staining them black. I made a drawer for the turntable. Kind of awkward, it's the Technics SL-1200, excellent table, but it was 1" too wide to go in width wise, so I made it a 22" drawer and put it in sideways. When playing a record it's extended out of the rack.
  17. Ok I'll admit to being lazy. The room has been up and running for a week technically. I got it done, then had to go out of town for Cedia for 4 days, and only just got back to enjoy it last Saturday. The glorious Yamaha CX-A5100 arrived, then the carpet got installed, which turned out even more awesome than I'd imagined! I've been too busy watching movies and mopping up my drool to post about it. 152" 16:9 Seymour Center Stage XD transparent screen, having never had a screen with texture before I was nervous, but seated 13ft from the screen, I have yet to catch the pattern. Also the brightness is plentiful. Built it myself, with Dad and uncles help. Lights on (shot from Avengers 2) Lights off. Coming from a high power 2.4 screen, somehow this seems sharper. Must be the sheer size, our distance from the screen(the freaking sound!!), but this is by far the most "cinematic" experience I've ever had in a home theater, mine or anyone elses! Door to the AV closet, wrapped with a big Han Solo sticker.. seriously the best $90 I ever spent! Had to get a couple of standees. Also I have ForceFx lightsabers and a lifesize Yoda, the back of the room is gonna be Star Wars world. Couldn't resist the Leia standee anymore! Those sound panels behind her are wrapped in glow in the dark fabric lol(their in the rear and dim, it's all good. Also note the lifesize Michael Meyers statue lol, he needs work to look better. The ones on the other size of her blocking the windows are wrapped in a Walking Dead fabric that I'm not crazy about, probably changing those. And my glorious Blu Ray collection that makes the whole thing worth while! So there you have it. All 7.2.4 speakers are being driven by the Yamaha CX-A5100 preamp, and powered by 2ch and 5ch Sherbourn amps, and the 5ch Emotiva. Not to mention the iNuke 6000DSP driving both subs with 1500wpc! In the interest of saving rack space, I'm considering unloading the three amps(Sherbourn and Emotiva) in favor of the 11ch Yamaha amp. I've gotten to hear it in a demo, really nice amp. As you can see my 7ft tall rack is full lol. The set up is simply unreal, I'm still having trouble understanding how magnificent it is. I officially kick IMAX's ***! I haven't gotten to watch a full length Atmos movie yet, but the demo's are incredible. San Andreas sounds like a freight train, it and Mad Max provide full body massages! Also you don't need to be an audiophile to hear a bad recording. I compared an original Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction LP to the MoFi re-release LP, the comparison has always been very close with the original sounding better, with the MoFi being really good too. On my set up the difference is readily apparent, the original release smokes it! My mother.. who hates metal, has no ear for it, could tell the difference!!! My sound panels in general look bad, upholstery ain't my bag. Soon as I can afford some ATS panels, those are getting replaced. My lifelong thanks to Scrappy for getting me into this mess lol.
  18. Up for sale is my 16:9 Da-Lite High power 2.4 gain perm wall screen. The screen is about 2 years old and is in excellent condition. it will ship out in it's original shipping box. Any questions, feel free to ask. Asking $400 plus actual shipping costs. Free local pickup, I'm in Colorado Springs, CO.
  19. Up for sale is my trusty old Denon 3806 silver receiver. Works like it did when new. This was the 1st generation receiver to be able to decode audio from HDMI, and is HDCP compliant! I have the original remoteS(came with a regular and a touchscreen remote, since Denon knew the touchscreen would tick off too many people lol), calibration mic, manual and original box is MIA. So anything short of Atmos, this thing will still handle no problem(never tried 3D passthrough, don't know if that would work), just have your Blu Ray players decode the next generation audio. Price is $150 plus actual shipping, or free local pickup in Colorado Springs, CO.
