Bought this like new from Scrappy here on the forums a while back. Has its original box and manual, it's been pretty lightly used. It's done a great job but I need to run two subs instead of one, so I'm going for a higher output amp rather than get another of these to save rack space. $225 shipped in the U.S. Willing to ship abroad but shipping will be more.

That is great to hear! I've been worried that I'm pushing the screen size, but I think it'll be fine. I have a feeling I won't have enough motivation to make masking panels lol. Still it'd be nice for SW and LOTR marathons.

The projector is the Sony VPL-HW55, probably the only decent projector bright enough to fill it. It's almost the entire wall. I imbedded super "rare-earth" magnets throughout the edge of the frame, might fool around with masking panels. Anyone know what can hang end to end for 11.5ft and not bow and be light enough to be held up with super magnets? Funny story I actually went to buy a much larger rack that was 89 inches tall at the same price. When I got there and looked at the thing I didn't realize it would be 30 inches wide, I took one look and thought "that isn't fitting in the basement". Turned out the guy also had the one I got at the same price, smaller but nicer with a backdoor, fans and being aluminum (other was steel). Wish I could tell you its designation (42u or whatever), but 79" with casters, 22in wide and 29.5" deep.

Things are progressing rapidly with the build now. Got electricity at long last! My Dad and Uncle were in town and offered to pitch in, so we got the speakers moved downstairs, the false wall built and the DIY screen built! That is a 151" 16:9 AT Seymour Centerstage XD screen. Frame coming together. Also I managed to pick up this gorgeous 79" tall server rack on Craigslist, complete with side panels, smoked glass door, locking back, and 3 cooling fans mounted up top for $100!! And finally I'm working on my Blu Ray shelf in the A/V closet, it's coming together nicely. It's getting so close now I can taste it! I just need carpet, to make some shelves for the rack, block the two rear windows and get the black material for the ceiling and I'm ready to rock. Hopefully this time next month I'll be watching movies!

LOL, too late, my speaker budget has been blown to hell. I'll have to settle with two lousy subwoofers I got. Oh check this out, nothing goes to waste. I cannibalized the 884's box and started insulating my garage/adding to the décor.

Thank you, yes it's pretty massive, I get goosebumps every time I walk down there! It's funny I've been using Scrappy's old sub in my temporary HT set up, it's been wedged behind the seats. Wasn't until I got the 2nd one that I remembered just how ludicrously massive the 884 is lol. Everyone around me is convinced I'm absolutely insane for getting two of those subs btw.

Exciting times! The drywall is hung, the guys are in the basement taping and bedding as we speak, I'll post more pics when that's all done. Yesterday, the rest of my sound system arrived direct from Hope, AR, 4 KPT-8060 surrounds, and another KPT-884 subwoofer! The 4 reference series CDT-3800-II in ceiling speakers arrived last week, I'm good to go for 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos! I can't wait to hang these beauties, I opened the instruction manual for the 8060's, and the 1st set of directions are for wiring them in parallel for a commercial cinema lol!

Well of course things are going slower than expected, wish I had less integrity, I'd go get $5000 cash off a credit card and finish the damn thing next week! We're getting the drywall done by mid to late June, looks like it will cost around $3000 textured and finished for the entire basement, plus 2 layers of 5/8ths drywall and resilient channel on the theater room ceiling. As you'll see in the pics below I got the Roxul insulation in the walls and the ceiling(though the pics were taken just before I did the ceiling lol). Even with no carpet this is one dead room! I have decided to go with drywall though, the insulation has an odor that I doubt will go away unless we drywall over it, and I'm positive it'll help stop the sound throughout the house. With all the insulation behind the walls a few properly placed sound panels will tame the sound as well. Also see in the 1st two pics I managed to line the inside of the utility closet with sound barrier material on the wall it shares with the theater room, even with no doors the heater is almost inaudible in the theater room! I read a deal online about a mod I plan to do to the riser, basically if I fill the whole thing with pink panther type insulation and cut a few vents on the top of it, supposedly it becomes a big bass trap!

No it'll still be used as a bedroom, just have to walk through it to get to the theater room. I checked and there's nothing against it in the code when used as a rec room, not a bedroom.

I actually did run extra 2 wires to each front speaker for bi-amping in the future should I desire. Yeah I made a conscious decision to have to go through that bedroom, on the original plans there was a wall making a hallway to the theater room, which made the bedroom 10x10, I decided to eliminate the hallway to make a bigger bedroom(it's my room anyway ). One thing I haven't mentioned, as I recently decided to actually do it; The walls in the theater room won't be drywalled, instead we're installing Roxul in every bay, and doing fabric over it. My guy here has suggested it from day one, but I've been resisting it. Recently I asked a sound engineer and they said it's an excellent way to do a movie room. It'll be a very dead room, which is desirable for HT for sound isolation. The ceiling will be drywalled(with Quietrock), which will provide a bit of liveliness for music's sake.

Yeah the guy I'm working with loves transducers and thinks the effect they give will be far better tactile bass than more subwoofers in the back.

Very interesting, I technically have room for two 884's. I might also consider transducers. The way the room is laid out, it'll be easy to add subs in the rear if fronts aren't enough.

I've got the kpt-884 I bought from Scrappy, I'm wiring for a 2nd 884. Both will be in front between main channels.

Surely, but all too slowly lol. Next week I'm gonna start insulating, then it's drywall time. I'll take some pics when the insulation goes in.

It's new construction, very well insulated. I figure they sell so cheap because they have basically zero aesthetic value lol. They either need speaker grills and a top hat made or to be put behind a screen like mine will. They remind me of a flat black rusted out 1968 Roadrunner with a supercharged 440 under the hood. Looks like crap, but nothing will beat it. The guy who sold them to me also had a pair of Klipschorns hooked up, and the 904s had clearer highs and better bass! He said the only speakers he's heard which beats them are the J-Horns at $4500 per speaker! And he said it's not nearly dramatic enough to justify the extra cost.

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while, been getting boring stuff done. Electrical, HVAC and plumbing is finished. I've been organizing the wire to try and make it easy to access. End of next week I'm gonna start getting the roxul insulation in the ceiling and side walls!

They sound like the most glorious 2 channel stereo ever lol. I've got them in my living room in a 2ch set up till the theater room gets built, music is incredible through them.

I thought about two of them, but I would think one is enough. I could even have the projector plugged into the regular 15amp circuit.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, everythings been nuts with the holidays, plus those same holidays have slowed things a bit. I've gotten most of the electrical in, with boxes for the sconces and fixtures for the canned lights! I do need to call in the electrician to run a dedicated 20amp line for the A/V equipment, plus he'll also be running a 220 line for future air conditioning. Then just need to get HVAC done and I can start getting quotes for drywall.

Slowly but surely, I'll take some new pics and update that thread in a bit.
