  1. i had a promedia speaker wich did a such thing:

it was the electrical components of the crossover that were to close(only one millimeter between them).

when i listened to music a loud level, at some frequencies, two components touch.i just twisted the 2 component a little bit to avoid they touch each other, with 5mm of space between them i ve never heard this noise again.

i hope this will help you.

  2. why not begining by 2 RF7, so you will have a good stereo setup.

and then you will be able to upgrade step by step, an RC7, then 2 RB75 or RS7....then a sub.

in that way i think you will enjoy listening to your system.

i think that only 2 good floorstanding speakers are better than good surround and center.

    it s just my opinion.

  3. klipsch speakers have a high sensitivity.

even if the synergy speakers sensitivity is lower than the reference products, its high enough.

i ve "only" 65w per channel with some sf1 and i ve never used more than the half of the power.

    Salut Doudou,

I'm quite familiar with the dB scale, thanks. But you were implying it's better to adjust down than up. Is there a reason for that?

Currently, the mains are at 0dB, the rears are at +2 dB and the center is at +8dB. The only ones fed by the receiver's amplifier are the mains. The rear are in a separate power amplifier and the center is the TV. I never watch a movie above -20 dB, and only rarely above -25dB.

what you ve done and what i advice should lead to the same result.

i think one of the two methode is asking less from the amp.

in fact lots of people here make this advice and i just trust them because they had a bigger knoledge than me(their number of post was bigger than mine).

  5. psg, if a halfof your basment is not finished, you can finish it and make one only room for your gear, so your room will be large enough for klipschorns, the lascalas will become center and surrounds.there is just one lascala and some work to do missing2.gif

why not just cut your holes first and try it...before going the next step of adding a fan....

since you stated the components were in a basically sealed chamber...the air holes would let it breath....

SO cut one at top to vent hot air....and one at bottom to draw in cool air

I bet just a few holes would be enough

i totaly agree with you. i really it worth trying before buying anything.

if the receiver and/or amplifier is made properly, there should not be any interference caused by fan motors.... AC or DC....

i've used many different fans over the years with different amps and receivers and i have never had any electrical noise added to my systems.....

your right: the amp are made to be the less sensitiv to the external interferences.

but all the wires that goes into your amp are very sensitive if they are too close to an motor or something else.it act like an antena.

the most sensitiv to these interference are the analog connection and especially the cables that come from a turnable.

i would say that putting my hand on the top it is very hot. I am assuming the noise you might get from the fan would be in the Speaker lines? maybe a hum or something like that?

I will try a fan blowing out of the rear, any size i should look for?

before buying anything to make tests with fan, i think you should really try to find a way to make breath your amp without fan.it will be cheaper, and you will have no problem.

remove all parts of the cabinet around your amp which isn t needed.

if you have a space of around 2 inch around your amp and nothing behind that could avoid the air to cool the amp it should be enough to listen t your system at medium level.if you want some very high level the space around the amp should be larger.

i m thinking of a test you can make:

place your amp outside the cabinet without nothing around and listen to some music and see if it get hot. if your amp is as hot as in the cabinet there is may be something wrong.

as i said an amp is made to work as it is built if you use it on normal conditions.

i think you don t listen your system at the maximum tha amp can provide so with this test, if you cannot leave your and on the amp for some seconds, your amp have a problem.
