  3. Otherwise the Heritage section title make little sense

Heritage is more than about speakers.

Then why the Heritage moniker? I imagine most folks on this forum equate Heritage to speakers? Or our long "heritage" with the Klipsch legend in itself.

  4. How about to belong the ultra elite forum section Heritage Members one must actually own a true Heritage model speaker -

Klipschorn, LaScalla, Belle, Cornwall. Otherwise the Heritage section title make little sense. Although I have few posts I watch the jibber-jabber several times a day, just don't feel the need to comment on every comment made. And yes I have owned and do own Heritage models, actually ordered my first LaScallas in 1977.

  5. As a rule SS power, tubes in the preamp section. Many folks running separates like the power afforded with a SS power amp with a tube preamp. The same configuration for the one-box hybrid integrated. At the moment I am running a 200 watt hybrid integrated with MOSFET SS power and 4x 6922's in the preamp section. Really, really shines on the KHorns using Phillips Miniwatt (Amperex) tubes.

  6. Just like all new auto designs, lots of painted plastic up front. Might you be considering having clear paint protection installed or as its commonly called "clear bra"? Having that done to mine today.

  7. Great post and you nailed it. I've bought/sold more gear over the past 10 years that at this point, yes I've heard enough equipment and believe I am done. Maybe a tube tweak here or there but equipment wise my current stash of 2 tube amps, 2 SS amps, 3 CD players and 6 pr of speakers should hold me. Once I got the KHorns I was winding things down. I Might be able to get more performance but at what cost? And now being retired I just need to be satisfied, and I am. Chased my tail and have spent enough over the years. Most sane people would give their eye teeth for my level of equipment but as we all know this hobby aint for the sane.

I was like this with motorcycles, over two dozen the past 10-12 years sometimes 5 in the garage. Now compelety happy with 2 and have jumped from that merry-go-round also. But it's all been fun!

Oops I forgot - make that 8 pr of speakers, add a tube preamp and an HK 430. And a Denon TT, Budgie cart amp, 3 carts - yeah I'm done.

  8. Although at this point cosmetic damage only, it appears some fairly serious dings, scratches. A speaker of such high pedigree and superior finish deserves better than that. I couldn't look at them each day I listen; I would focus more on the damage than the experience. But admittitly I am anal as hell. I would send them back. The next buyer will want you to give them away. i would imagine Harbeth buyers to be a particular bunch. Although you did get a great deal it boils down - what can you live with?

    So sorry, what a shame.

  9. I don't believe Schumi wore a Schuberth during his rein in F1.... maybe during his short lived superbike career. I thought (?) it was Arai?

I think if you check closely at past photos Schu wore Schuberth almost exclusivly as do most from F1. Not only a great helmet but German made and Germans are quite loyal to their own engineering. I do see the occasional Arai and just this year Bell is being worn in F1. I believe I've seen Bell on Kimi R this year. And in no way can we compare the Arai, Schuberth etc. to the off the half lids most of buy for bikes. My next to the top Arai was about $700 and I've read that custom fit F1 type helmets can be $5-7K.

  10. A1

I look forward to short review on you "British sound" components - the LFD and the HL5.

I have been intrigued with Harbeth for some time but have yet to find courage to pull the trigger. Maybe you can opine their $$$ vs. sound quotant. Not neccessarily vs. Klipsch but tone, stage, cohesion etc.

    Thanks

And it appears you are leaving VRD for LFD. British integrated for American tube monos. Interesting flip.

  11. Right you are Ceptor

Three years ago I bought a mint '03 Nickey Hayden RC with only 1200 miles. A viscous sport bike for sure. Too radical for this old man but damn did she run and the sound from those gear driven cams, Wow. True mechanical music. Honda pulled out the stops when designing the bike as they were determined to take it to Ducati. And take it to them they did. And it didn't hurt it was piloted by Nickey in his prime.

  12. I ride a One Liter Duc Eater

    Anybody know what it is?

Almost always it's the skill of the rider not the displacement of the bike. I've seen many a boy racer on 1000cc repli-racers humbled by skilled old men on Goldwings. I'd venture to say less than 5?% of sport bike riders get anywhere near the bikes capabilities.

  13. I have a box (8x) of new, never used 6n3c-e (6L6) shipped from Russia. Intended amp never materialized so tubes have sat as they were delivered. I believe from the Reflektor factory with supposed great sound and quality. Becoming harder to come by as I have read? $15/each and would like to sell all 8x but might consider selling 4x and 4x.

    Thanks

  14. I know there are many RTR fans here on the forum so I thought well maybe some of you have some cherished cassetts in need of quality playback. I have had my Denon DR-M2 three head servo controlled deck in its box for well so many years I can't recall! This is a true 10/10 piece with what I would guess had never run more than ten tapes through before purchasing my first Denon CD player.

Other than these few tapes I guess you could call it NOS. An absolute Mint piece of vintage gear. I will entertain sane offers and I have a price in mind for it going to AGon.

Also in another ad to post a box of 8x - 6n3c-e (6L6). Never used, ordered from Russia for an amp that never materialized through an AGon fiasco. I would like to sell all 8x at once but might entertain 4x and 4x. It appears these are getting harder to get and sound fantastic with great quality. I believe from the Russian Reflektor factory. $15/each tube.

    Thanks folks

  15. Nowhere near what Tx, Ok are dealing with but here outside KC, some form of a rain occurence 22 out of the last 25. Today was nice but this is beginning to wear thin. Chances of rain again through next weekend.

  16. I highly recommend the banked dirt oval known as El Dora in Rossburg, Ohio,  Tony Stewart likes the place so much he bought it.  If he could be paid as well, Stewart would race Sprint cars all the time.

At this point in his career do you suppose Tony really Needs the NASCAR paycheck? Although I'm sure cashing it is very nice!

  17. I know it has been nothing like TX and OK but we just had another 3 inches of rain last night in KC. About 7-9 inches in the past couple weeks. Getting Real old, can't make any dry weather plans, always cloudy. The radar scans are nearly identical storm after storm, tailing from s central TX up to KC. Hundreds and hundreds miles of rain.
