  1. Thanks DOC, I think this will work, I like the look of the omnimount, and the flexible mounting positions.
  2. That is a valance , so it would not hold the wieght, and I cannot drill into that wall because its a concrete header. Im fine on my other side , I just dont want the hieght or distance to be off by a whole lot.
  3. There we go...for some reason I could not open pic direct?
  4. Heres a pic of the rear of my HT room I am having trouble with the install of the RS-7s. Got some ideas?
  5. Yes I purchased a monster cable made just for the subwoofer.
  6. My mistake it is set on "both" and my front 3 channels are set to large, (RF7, RC7) while the back 2 surounds are set to small (RS7s). Its odd why my manual highlights the recomended settings for THX, like setting it to LFE only, and setting the crossover to 80hz. and the settings for size are all small. It also recommends to set the LFE level at 0hz.
  7. That is interesting,it is set up for LFE. In fact it gives you the choice of either no LFE, LFE and front, or just LFE. I have mine set on LFE. I think this just tells the receiver where to send the LFE. I will look into this in the morning. (quote) For example, if your sub is set on the receiver to only play LFE signals only, then it won't play all of the bass. Check the manual for your receiver. Tell me , I thought you wanted your sub to use the LFE. So what your saying is there is a difference between LFE and bass? And if it is set on LFE it will not play bass? Thanks for the help, It is nice to have this forum for such issues. I have not found a true professional audio video person in my venture, that knows enough to instruct me with "common" and "basic" issues. I will let you know my finds .
  8. Yes, if I would have known more about the stf-2 I would have gotten something more powerful. Although I bought the sub while waiting for the 7s to arrive. I knew nothing about powered subs, (obviously still dont)so I went with some reviews I had read online, and liked the price. Here is the way it is connected( I had nothing to go by but the directions supplied with my equipment: monster cable (labeled for subwoofer connection)from sub pre out to single mono input at the sub.I see there are optional ways to connect the sub, but this is my first time building a HT , and I am new to most modern stereo equipment, so I went with advice given to me at the time to go the mono route. I guess thats all, you tell me?
  9. I have a couple of questions to better understand upgrading and instaling a powered sub. I am running a 5.1 Klipsch RF7 series system, using a Yamaha 7.1 A/V receiver at this time. I bought a HSU stf-2 mainly because I heard it was a good bang for the buck. I think I get more low freq. out of the RF7s than the STF-2. I would like to find a sub that will shake the walls without breaking the bank. Also can I get an explanation of "powered sub"? I have a general understanding of what is going on here, but I had a hell of a time just getting sound to come out of my sub at first install, just because I did not know or see the little "in" and "out" switch at the bottom of the sub? When I adjust the controls at the sub , I seem to get no change , except the phase switch. I run the setup program "YPAO" and get test tones from every speaker but the sub, is that normal? Feel free to edjucate one of the new guys
  10. Well I had had Sub. problems before , I use the HSU stf2 (I should have went bigger) but I could not get sound to play from this unit , I thought I had tried everything, I even took the receiver back and said the Sub, pre-out is bad. Then I noticed a tiny switch semi hidden under the ac cord, that said "in" or "out" Once I switched this , all was good. Now having said this, when I run my YPAO setup, and it comes to the RR surround, I am getting sound from the sub, and the surround? I do not know enough about such things so I will hope for your suggestions. . As far as the small/large issue, all 3 front channels are set to large , and the back 2 are set to small. That is just the way it sets them for whatever reason, I have the LFE set to both. For now i am directly in the path of this damn Hurricane , I may be evacuating some time today, so I may be offline for some time. Hopefully the house will be left standing I would hate to lose the Home theater lol.
  11. Ill have to dive into the manual this weekend to find out how to turn this off. I have not come across this feature yet. Thanks for the idea, ill let ya know if this helps.
  12. I am using the same wire I had used with the speakers I replaced, there was no problems before. I have the speaker in the same position as the previous one. I do however notice sound coming from my sub, and right surround simultaniously, during its test tones? I dont think thats supposed to happen.
  13. Just wondering if any of you could help me out with a little issue I have going on right now. First of all I am running a 5.1 Ref. RF7 series HT from a Yamaha RX-V1400 7.1 receiver. I have had no problems with any of my speakers until today when my RS7s arrived in the mail. I went to hook them up, and Yamaha urges you to run a new auto setup with the YPAO mic. While running I noticed a discrete difference from left to right rear, the right side was much more low and boomy, almost distorted ,while the program ran its sequence. Then at the end I received a out of phase warning for that right side. So after checking and rechecking the wires I decided to give it the benifit of doubt and switched black and red wires =same results "out of phase" So I tried switching speakers , thinking maybe I got a malfunctioning RS7, same result from the same side. I have run out of ideas, anyones idea will be welcome while I wait for a return e-mail from Yamaha. Thanks SKID
  14. I think my next question would be , how willing have the dealers been to let us audition thier equipment. I am willing to spend the money on the right equipment, but I still dont see the shot in the dark thing working for me right now. Today I demoed a Mccintosh all in one piece. Im sure some of you who know more about Mccintosh know the unit. It is a huge piece of equipment, of course the Amp is combined with the receiver, for I believe a 5.1 system. $6000.
  15. Ive been looking and learning about going with seperates this year, the hard part is finding available demo places. I have about 2, in my area, and its hard to get an honest answer about a product they dont carry. Both dealers did nothing but rag on Aragon amps. Mccintosh , seems to be the brand carried by the 2 in my area, along with Lexicon, and a few others. I dont know if Im going that hard core , I have an oportunity to listen to some B/K also, but then again all these demos will sound totally different without my speakers.(RF7s) None of these dealers carry Klipsch speakers. I dont think I saw a speaker in the place under $5000 each. Its to the point now where if I cant hear how something sounds on my speakers it almost seems useless. Just a bit frustrated , if anyone else has been through this sort of thing please share your ideas.
  16. I watched it last week , I guess it was just not my type of movie. I did like the soundtrack.
  17. For those of you who are waiting, or leaning toward a DLP, the competition for Samsung seems to be mounting. I own a 50" HLP, and am very pleased with the picture and "true" HD res., but after recently viewing the new Mitsubishi line of DLPs, I must admit, the gap is gone. (and these were the low end Mit. line).
  18. Yes sorry to get off topic, I dont run into a pepper sauce fanatic like myself very often. Lets get back to those home theaters, I have been impressed by the pics, great layouts and designs.
  19. I just have to ask, about the hot sauce that is, Do you carry any Daves Insanity Sauce? It is the hottest sauce in the world(acording to the Food Network) I use 3 drops to make a pot of wing sauce , adnd most of my guests still cant eat em.hot stuff man! I do keep my grills off full time. Just looks better, has no impact on sound in my room. If you look at all the REF, advertising, every picture will be grilless.
  20. I am using a wall mount TV stand, my CC looks almost to be floating above my screen.
  21. NP. I always try to find the most up to date equipment for the best price of course.
  22. Ive conntacted Moon, he ditched those a long time ago. Thanks though.
  23. Just in the market , my dealer is 3 hours away and he has no blacks in stock.
  24. I cant help but to bash, just because I nearly made the same mistake. I mean when you dont know $#@!about HT, and you hear bose first, you get sucked in. My recent story, a brother in law, purchased bose and a couple of months later we had a get together , he hears my Klipsch RF7s and just stares in amazement. I stop inviting friends over for demos because they all, have some sort of HT "surround", and they all go away pissed at me, cause I just made them realize they wasted $1000 on tv speakers. BTW I own a bose and a tivoli, the bose is my alarm clock.
