  1. No I can not get the sub to work in 2or6 channel mode>>>no mode is working<< Its all taken care of though , just another waiting game. I cant complain, I am a first time home theater builder, I spent about $10 K in the last 2 months , so I would expect some issues along the road.
  2. I beleive I read that in the Yam. owners manual, refering to sacd.
  3. Hey Endover, Save yourself about $200 and get the Yam. 1400 (or the HK) I was going for the 2400 until I realized you were paying $200 more for 10 watts per channel, and a few minor additions that I had no need for(multizones). Anyway, I did get the rears to sound ok. I do not know when I will be able to get the RS7s so I will have to use these for now.
  4. Now there is something I am not quite sure about. I am using a DVD player for my music, which is getting more popular for why have to components when one can do both, mine is not sacd capable, but from what I read to play sacd it cannot be from a digital source? I dont quite understand that?
  5. Ah yes I have figured it out, mostly just a new guy to Home Theater mistake..but I am learning. The Yammys dont sound too bad , considering i have them very low for a surround , about 3' of the ground. Thanks for all the help (again). This forum is truely made up of a class act of audio video enthusiasts, unlike some of the others!
  6. I did try both settings, I have a new receiver on the way. I had a Klipsch dealer take a look at the receiver, he said the Sub out and the pre outs were dead. And I did get the rears adjusted correctly...not the best surround sound, but itssomething , until I get some RS7s in the house.
  7. I will try both of those suggestions, again thanks for the input.
  8. Hey Rick , and yes the Yam.1400 has nearly every capability up to 7.1 ch surround. I am still tinkering with things when I get time, it is a new purchase, so I easily may have overlooked something. It is a rather impressive receiver for the price. Unfortunatly that makes things a bit harder for someone newer to HT to learn. I have the rears wired to the surround outputs, because it was recomended to me to use the surrounds over the "back" surrounds. I can hear sound from them , but I must have my ear within a foot of the speaker to hear. And yes I do understand that some times there is no sound meant to be coming from them.
  9. I have setup a new HT system (RF7 mains, RC7 cen.,HSU sub..) I have to wait on the RS7, so I am trying to get my old Yamaha NSA635 bookshelves to hold me over so I can get some kind of surround going for now. I use the Yamaha RX-V1400 AV Rec. my problem is I am having a hard time getting much sound outta them for a 5.1 setup. I am getting plenty for music, but not a whole lot for HT. They are actually damn nice sounding speakers for the size and cost. (when used for music) Is this just not gonna work , or can I get this to work for the time being? I have turned them from +1 to -6, and I just dont hear a diff? I could use some help.
  10. Yeah that is true. I still have to set the spikes because my floor is Berber. I was told my base response would be better if the spikes were actually setting on the slab. Question do you run a 5.1 or 7.1 channel system with your Yammy? i ask because I can not yet pick up the surrounds for the back but I am trying to figure out how to use my old Yamaha bookshelf speakers for some kind of surround or rear 5.1 set up for now. I am having trouble getting much sound out of them with a 5.1 setup.. Although there is plenty of sound with music.(I did run the YPOA) it set them at small at about +1.0 each.
  11. Sounds like they will mount rather easily then. I am not quite sure where I will hang them, on the sides or in the back sides Looks like I have to wait until the 27th to get the new 1400, kind of a bummer since I have yet to hear the sub. I dont think I can bring it back after 14 days. lol Im kinda screwed there. I was watching a movie tonight , and those rf7s and rc7 just flat out scream!
  12. I am not sure if I like the way the YPAO is so accurate. I mean once it is set up , if you are 3 ft. outside of the listening area you loose the sweet spot. Although I can leave the doors to my house open and have the unit blasting , and still the sound seems to stay inside my house? I like your idea about writing the settings from the YPAO down for a ref. Right now I am using some old Yamaha bookshelves for my surrounds until I can get a pair of RS's but I cant seem to get much volume outta them. So i constantly tinker with them. If you can show some pics of your RS monting I would love to see how they mount.
  13. Good to hear someone is using the same setup I just purchased. I did check all your sugestions, and still I get nothing. I am suprised the YPAO did not give me an eror message when going through the setup programs for LFE. All other functions work fine. Like I said the unit was an opened box, which makes sense why it was returned to the store the 1st time. They said to bring it back and they will just get another unit. Stay in touch . I could use the input from a fellow Yamy/Klipsch user. Thanks SKID
  14. I was hoping to get some suggestions from someone , maybe a solution. I just received my RF7s and commenced in hooking all my A/V equipment up for the first time finally. After running the Yammy YPAO auto setup program, all was great, very accurate (YPAO) all was well until I realized that I could here no Sub? I tried a few variations of LFE configuring with the front channels , still nothing? I checked and doublechecked the setup and all was hooked up right. I even pulled the plug and rubbed my finger over the tip and it made plenty of noise (the sub is working fine). I am only left with the asumption that the sub out on the rec. is bad? I am using an HSU sub. If anyone has dealt with this issue please share. Thanks SKID
  15. No guys please keep it coming, i mean I am not a complete idiot, lol I do understand the concepts of surround, but everything you guys have said makes alot of sense. My system is progressive in size , I had to stop here because of funds, but I have just begun.LOL 5.1 for now but soon to be 7.1 or more. Another question , what about your basic 2 channel listening modes, I was under the impression when you listen to cds you didnt want to use any of the surround features because of cancelation? Just front L/R?
  16. Can anyone have too many stacks of gear? Thanks for your advice...I have never owned a sub for anything other than car audio, hence the need for the expert advice. Done! Its in my room now. Kinda a plain looking sub(compared to what Ive seen of your stuff)but it is only Temp. Thanks again, Ill let ya know how it does.
  17. I hate to ask this kind of a question, but after reading through my manual for the Yam.RXV1400, dealing with all the dif. kinds of listening surround settings, I am hoping someone can simplify this for me if possible. Fortunatly I have not recieved my front channels yet(any day now), so I have not yet hooked it all up.I am just getting into the HD/HT technology, so when I read about dolby prologic and DTS and neo6 and THX..5.1 ,7.1 lol Its just mindboggling trying to compute everthing at once. I am trying to run a 5.1 HT for now.
  18. I didnt want to jump into anyones post, but I am looking for a cheaper sub to get me through the next six months , when I can truly jump on a great sub for a more permanent station in the .1 spot. Anyhow Mr EAR you are the one I am supposed to be asking about this...I have a range of 3 to 4 hundred left for the cheaper sub..currently I am leaning toward the HSU STF-2 for it is now retailed at a local vendor and for $349 its right there. I didnt hear that one mentioned in the last thread with the guy who needed a sub for 200 or less? By all means anyone else can give me thier views too. Thanks
  19. LOL Scott, I was just wondering if you are a Boston "Bruins" fan? And I just got back from home depot and was looking at the TV wall mounts LOL...yes looks good thanks...(why didnt my picture open in the post?) Blue Monk....have you made up your mind to get that samsung stand? In my opinion for the price there is so much better out there. If not go to Bello .com check out some of there stands...I paid about $100 more for this stand than the Sammy stand..but it is Cherry and has the wire system .
  20. This is what the room looks like....
  21. Oh yeah Blue Monk..The stand I bought was rated at 50LBs capacity per shelf. I believe the RC7 is 45.5LBs so it does hold the speaker, but it looks like the glass is sagging, and that cant be good. You will not be able to fit your center on the Samsung stand .
  22. Yes Samaung HLN507W sorry , and no I am not using the sam. stand , I went with a Bello with a cherry wood that matches the Klipsch cherry. The shelf sounds like a winner, I like the idea of it floating, but the RC7 is nearly 12 " deep so I will need the 1x12 if I go that way. Hell I almost bought a wall mount TV swivel stand , it would have worked. Thanks for your suggestions guys.
  23. Hey guys , I was wondering if anyone had a link or advice on where i might find a custom mount for my RC7 above the DLP. At 45lbs its a bit to heavy to put on the Sammy. I have it on the ower glass shelf now , but it looks to be sagging a little , and that cant be good. I was gonna build something, but would rather just purchase a shelf for that purpose, if there is such a thing? Thx SKID
  24. Yes Bruins I did talk to Joe, he said they were on back order. And he is a Klipsch dealer avman, I do not understand why the wait...I did however receive the RC7 3 days after I ordered the whole set....Maybe it is just the Cherry finish that is on back order in the RF7s ?
  25. I will be in the market for some RS7s in the near future...hell Im still waiting on the RF7s. Why are you getting rid of them anyway MooN?
