  1. This guy turned out to be a real jerk. I am sorry I ever mentioned him, but I thought if you were close enough to go check them out in person, you would be safe. It just goes to show you ,there are all kinds of people out there.
  2. Those are the ones , after talking to the guy and him wanting to get rid of them . I figured if you could go see them in person you could pay him what you thought they were worth . It is hard to tell from a picture , if you offered him $1100 -$1200 for a pair of 1990 and had to do a little work on them it might be worth it to someone . That is a call for each person to make on their own.
  3. Louie is callaway , if he does not buy them ,you are next in line .
  4. Next in line is George from Conn. ,then Louie from Hudson Valley , then speakerfritz. To George and Louie ,I gave the seller your phone #'s . He is going to call George 1st , if that does not work out than , he will call Louie , if neither of you get them let me know ,and speakerfritz can have a chance at them.
  5. Jtnfoley, If I do not hear from you by 6:00 pm Sunday ,there is another person from this forum who has shown an interest ,I will be giving him the contact info. at that time . "You snooze ,you lose" , so hope your awake.
  6. Hey , I saw that you missed out on an oppurtunity for K-horns ,I know of a pair of 1990 Khorns in Brooklyn for $1400 - $1500 . Call me at 315-797-4053 if you are interested ,and I will put you in touch with the person who has them . It will make up for your missed oppurtunity.
  7. Yeah, I know. K-Horns perhaps someday. I was referring to availability of other models. I missed a set of Chorus IIs ($400) while waiting for another seller to respond, couldn't cross paths with the seller of a set of original Cornies, then DID find a set of Cornies which were sold out from under me. So, I grabbed a set of nearly mint oiled walnut Quartets (well, mint until I knocked a corner of the laminate off the top  ) just to get my Klipsch fix. I was first respondant and paid $225. So far so good... my NAD T653 runs out of steam before the quartets start to break up Normal listening and movie levels and they are sweeeet. I know where you can get a pair of 1990 Klipschorns ,out of Brooklyn for $1400- $1500 . If interested let me know 315 797-4053 ask for Mark , I screen my calls ,so start talking when answering machine comes on and I will pick up.
  8. I have a Fisher X-100C ,that has a great sound to it. It is like Craig said it will depend upon what condition they are in.
  9. I have taken grills off on my Forte and K-horns ,washed them in the bathtub ,and then let them dry out, did wonders to get rid of the accumalated dirt and years of someone else's smoking habit.
  10. Hey Mike, You didn't get touched by the storm that blew through at all,did you . I was just wondering , thought it hit north of you ?
  11. Larry, I get tired of hearing the same sound ,always looking for something a little different ,as long as it is done well.
  12. Mark, I get about the same hiss out of your Diva as I did out of my blueberry here in fact I get something out of it I never get out of the Blueberry a small amount of hum out of my woofers (very small) but its there just the same. Now that said I can hear nothing much out of either setup when I stand up two foot away! so I guess I don't understand why this stuff is even brought up if others are getting the same noise as I am. I mean I could see if you could hear this stuff from your seated position or within say 3' of your speakers, but I can't remember the last time I listened to music with my ear up to a 104db speaker [] As far as the Adcom I suggest you do like others and try to isolate the noise by shorting the inputs of the amp and see if the amp is really the culprit making the noise. A power amp is going to do its job and amplify whatever is presented too its input. The lower the input sensitivity of the amp is the more it will amplify it. Craig Craig, I wonder why that is, at the gathering when I swapped them ,no one heard any noise at all with my system . I wonder if it is the tubes , don't really know, just thinking out loud I guess and as you said if you can't hear it from your listening position ,it does not matter to me any ways.
  13. On my VRDs , the noise is there if I don't turn on my Diva preamp. Once I turn on the Diva pre ,the noise is gone.
  14. I am running VRD's , I have Craigs blueberry -juicy music and I get the hiss with it . Craig has my Diva M7 pre-amp ,and to me it takes out just about all the hiss, if not all the hiss. Maybe he will post his impressions of my Diva.
  15. Mike, Check out this CD , kind of Folk rock ,like the Byrds . Another different sound ,you can listen to sound clips on every song. "The Lost Cabin and the Mystery Trees" by Lost Dogs . http://www.thechoir.net/lostdogs/ You can get it cheaper on e-bay $13.97 shipped to you ,about 20 still available, I just bought one.

  17. Craig, I should send you my CD player[on 2nd. thought no I shouldn't ,you probably would take me up on the offer ,and I want to relax and settle down for awhile[]] ,I think you would really like it , the reviewer on 6 moons compared it to his $1749 Cairn Fog reference CD player and Dr. Pyros Sony XA9000ES SACD is a high quality CD player and it is built like a tank ,probably goes 20 - 25 lbs. So we were listening to pretty high quality CD players . The phono I have is a decent one from the 70's a Technics SL-1700 direct drive semi automatic with a Shure catridge, not top of the line ,but in its day it was a decent turntable. With both the CD player and the turntable ,one could tell the difference with a quality recording over junk. I played one of the older crappy CD, The Best Of Mountain , it sounded terrible very flat ,one dimensional sound . I played a fairly decent LP and it sounded better than another LP ,I played earlier . I know that the LP's ,I had left laying around ,are not some of the "best" recordings out there , and some of the CD's I played were very good recordings . So all things have to be held in perspective . It took me all of 2 min. to setup the turntable.
  18. Hey, That is why I told people several times to bring some or "their" favorite music to listen to. Daed is right that he is not far away ,so he come come over just about any weekend and re-audition the set up , just give me a call and "BYOM" , bring your own music.
