  1. This is the other one....(imagine that they look simiar!!) Serial 021491496
  2. I've got two black Academy's that are just gathering dust and not being used. I'll attach some pics of each (and will try to differentiate the pics so you know which is which) Frankly, I'm torn on doing this so if I end up sounding wishy washy (like my current brain lock on how much to ask) I can only hope you'll bear with me a bit. I'm thinking $400 plus shipping. Fair? (that is each & not for a pair) These are bone stock and I'm original owner. Pics to follow
  3. Hi Fauzi, Nice choice for your wife! Why selling: have you bought several amps and decided that as much as you might like one, it's just not the main one you keep returning to use? Same logic. She's got more $$ in watches than I do in amplifiers. Truth of the matter, she found a Baume Mercier (sp?) that is all stainless, diamonds down the sides of the face of the (rectangle) watch and she just prefers wearing it more. Why not let someone else enjoy her Rolex. (she's sold/given away 3 Tags, 2 Baume Merciers & 1 Swiss Army) She's never been a Rolex fan thinking that they are just a bit too big for her tastes. She finally wore this one out of 'political pressure' at work. After she was there for several more years, she finally decided if they don't like it, they can...[A] The one that she REALLY likes is their "Masterpiece". Fortunately for me, she's on the 'good' side of practical and as such, prefers to keep a cheaper (relatively speaking) watch and some cash on side. another example, she does NOT like store bought flowers. In 18 years of knowing her, I've NEVER EVER had to buy flowers for her. She thinks they are a waste of time & money. She'd MUCH rather go outside & cut her own so she can have her own fresh cut flowers. Said when we first met that if I ever bought flowers for her she'd slap me. So guys... Valentines day, birthdays, Christmas, "just because", anniversarys... I've never ever had to buy a single floral arraingment for her!!! (nanny nanny) As for a new one of similar design, I THINK the going price is about $7,000. I just called her & woke her up to ask [A] so its' possible her brain was still a bit cloudy.
  4. Thanks for the verification Wuzzer! As far as what Wuzzer & Vette said, I think it's a matter of details. Both are right in that the all stainless watches and/or (solid) gold watches CAN be refinished and be made to "look" new HOWEVER, Corvette's comments about "original precision fit & finish" are also right (in my opinion) in that virtually ALL watches will over time, have their bands loosen up as the links get wear & tear. As such the bands won't be as precision fit & finished as a factory NEW band. Dirt is a watchbands mortal enemy. Dirt gets inside the links and will act as abrasive to help speed up the 'stretching' of the links in virtually all watches (that are of link style). This watch is no exception. Everyone should clean your band every now & then. I know that I typically do mine once a month and my wife does hers more often. After a WEEK, I can take my watch & simply dunk it into a glass of hot water/ammonia mix and let it soak. After an hour, I can shake the watch while under and see "stuff" in there floating around (and I keep my watch cleaner than most people I know...well, actually more than anyone I know). If I wait longer intervals between cleanings, there's more "stuff". Watches don't like this "stuff" and it will help accelerate the wear of the inside of the links while every day wearing the watch will help wear the OUTSIDE of the links. Any solid gold, stainless steel (or combo) can be refinished and brought to "look" new (depending on skills of who buffs them) but as Vette pointed out, that will NOT fix any of the wear on the INSIDE of the links that's caused by age/dirt. The Wife & crew try to "upsell" people to buy the watches with this style of links because THEY know the other links will wear faster. These style bands cost more and as such, a lot of people won't do that. What they're missing in their thought process is, "you can pay me now or you can pay me later" because this style band will last a lot longer than the other style band (as explained by Wuzzer) Anyways, lots of chat, no evident takers so I'll probably be putting it (them) on ebay tonight. If anyone is on the fence, you have I'd guess until 8/9:00 tonight to make comment to me before they're on their way to ebay. []
  5. I'd bet if you priced a NEW "cheapie" stainless model, you'd consider jumping up for the value here. Something a lot of people don't know is, the "basic" Rolex band stretches out over time (as do most watches when dirt reams out their links) This has the (much) nicer band and frankly, will hold up a lot longer than the one with smaller links. Anyways, that's not why I'm typing all this... seems I might not have mentioned pricing on the Tag? Retail is $1,095 plus tax of course, Wifey is asking $795 with NO tax and we'll pay (ground) shipping to you. Again, to reiterate, she works at an authorized Tag dealer so this will be a 100% legit/warrantied purchase. []
  6. Silly girl... I'm TOAST when she finds out I just today bought a preamp and power amp from Charles (Frezinvmt). The only thing that MIGHT save some grace is I also sold one (of two) OTL amps so she can see SOMETHING going out the door instead of always in! I'm afriad I told Tom (?) and Charles that if I disappear, then the farm where we live is to be searched for a DEEP freshly dug hole (I own a full sized industrial backhoe with 15 1/2 digging depth). furthermore, that if said wife is noticed to be snickering, then said snickering is to be purposely construed as incriminating behavior!! (fresh backhoe tracks will lead to clues, albiet perhaps smelly clues) [6]
  7. Saved the worst exposed for last. Even out of focus a bit. I wanted to show the backside of watch and until sun is out, my digital camera kinda stinks on closeups.
  8. I guess it's the solid black face with stainless case/band. It's model number WAF1110.
  9. Hi Chuck... Oops, I thought I put that up there. She wants $795 (no sales tax) for the Tag. I took some pics of it just an hour ago and it was dark outside so I only had inside light/flash to deal with.
  10. Pictures to follow Probably going to get disowned for putting this here BUT... I'm getting ready to put my wifes Rolex and Tag Heuer onto Ebay. Thought I'd post here in case anyone MIGHT be looking for something like this AND prefer to get it from someone you might know a bit more about than Joe Schmoe on Ebay. A quick recap: Rolex: Ladies 18kt gold & stainless steel DateJust, about 6 years old, has the $1,500 "Jubilee Serti" (diamond) option dial on it, retailed for about $5,400. Going onto ebay with $3,500 reserve. It's been to Rolex and completely serviced and refurbished and has NOT been worn ONCE since then. This watch looks showcase new. Wife works in jewlery store and has probably bought watches like WE buy amps... This was her 'fancy' work watch for while and as such, she always kept it pristine and more importantly, keep the band clean and dirt out of the links. There is about six months left on the warranty from Rolex Service (also has serial numbers on watch...this is a real one) Tag Heuer: This is a brand new, just received today (I personally signed the UPS thing for it this afternoon). She won it in a work contest. It's a MANS full sized "AquaRacer", the NEWEST style. Stainless band with black face. This hasn't even been tried on...I know because if anyone would have done it, it would have been ME [6]. This will have Tag's FULL warranty on it WITH serial numbers, unlike some of the folks on ebay selling gray markets. This is from a legit dealer (her work is Rolex/Tag/Breitling/other dealer) Kind of funny story, when she started working there some 10 years ago, she came home ROLLING her eyes..."Richard...OMG.... I've messed up working there... they're not a "real" jewlery store, they mainly sell WATCHES" (rolls eyes even more).. "Do you know how BORING watches are???" "I won't be able to STAND this" Fast forward about 6 weeks into the Christmas season and she was their FIRST person to ever sell a $25,000 Rolex Presendtial 18kt solid gold watch. her attitude on selling watches changed literally overnight! She loves them now! Funny how sales might do that to someone. She's gone on to buy many and WIN many watches, such as this Tag (and bracelets/rings/other) In case anyone wonders why "I" do not take this watch, I already have my dream watch (if I may be so brash), I've got a 18kt/stainless Tag Heuer 6000 Automatic Chronograph. She bought me a Rolex once and I had her take it back. I'm a happy camper with my 6000. (and I love mechanical watches!) Anyways, I've got both of these heading to Ebay VERY shortly. Matters not to me if no one finds interest but if you DO have an interest, you can rest assured these are 100% legit.
  11. I may as well chime in too... The cretan sold me that dbx stuff that I so adore... The nerve! [6] []
  12. Yep, as per Marks website Tubes (3) 6922; (1) 12X4 rectifier
  13. Gary: I DO think I saw Germany on the tube Guy: Yikes... I guess I need to do some more research before doing anything. Thanks for the heads up. If it works or not, it only dawned on me yesterday that I've got "other tubes" at my disposal. Perhaps the right ones, perhaps not, but it might be worth looking into them instead of outright purchasing a duplicate! I'll do more research later today if I can.
  14. Brainstorm hit me... My MC-30's have "ECC 12AX7". I've no clue what brand is "stock" in the Peach nor what the ECC brand is, but I was told by someone that the tubes in my Mac's were "nice ones". (??) Soooooo, I presume they're interchangable since they're 12AX7's. Any thoughts on how the differences of the ECC's verses stock (sorry, forget what came in my Peach) would perhaps flavor the sound? Item 2: I KNOW there is an inherent difference in sound using the low/high Z switch. With the intent of trying to get an "A/B" test, is it 50% fair to put both ECC's in the Peach so I can have stock on high and both ECC's on the low? (or vice versa, that always confuses me) Although I presume the mere fact of the high/low would flavor the sound so I know the test won't be a true a/b, but kind of like eating a pizza... you might eat one with crust/sauce only against one with "all" and still have at least a minimal idea if the bare one tastes "decent". My MC-2102 probably has "McIntosh" branded 12AX7's, any thoughts on the true brand of those and if THEY'D be worth trying? Last, is it fair that the 12AX7 tube is THE tube to be swapping out in the amps to try different flavors? (seems the McIntosh amps have a variety other tubes that are small like these) []
  15. oh yes. The problem was the directions said to "add this & that" instead of "add this & than AND THEN FILL UP TO THE LINE WITH MILK" That simple oversight, really messed us up. As I've told my wife, I can be VERY good at following directions. I didn't waiver a bit. Not MY fault the directions were screwed up lol. Seems her mother (who had just prior passed away) of course, KNEW to add the milk and presumed anyone else would too. She didn't expect "Mr. Anal & follow the directions literally" to ever use her recipe. [:$]
  16. Always loved the 3 voices of Banarama (and not too bad to look at either) Janice Jackson's "Black Cat" (and no others) there! I said it... I'm out of the closet! Suddenly, I feel refreshed and rays of sunshine beaming over me...[ip]
