  1. EXACTLY! Thank you for helping me prove my point. LMAO!!!!! You need to look up the definition of 'irony.' I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. [:'(] And you need to look up the definition of "troll". (I knew what you were getting at with your previous post. I'm not stupid like you think.) There's a difference between standing your own ground (which I was/am doing) and starting trouble (which you are doing as we speak).
  2. EXACTLY! Thank you for helping me prove my point.
  3. No, I'm just sick of all the stupidity going around. And there appears to be quite a bit of it lately. It's uncalled for and down right annoying. It's impossible to start a thread on here and keep it going peacefully without someone coming on here to screw it up. Aren't you all tired of seeing all of these good threads turning to garbage and getting locked or deleted?! I am. So don't come on here and try to make me out as the bad guy, saying I need to chill and whatnot. Why don't you try telling those other people to stop with their BS instead and stop ganging up on me?! Come to think of it, the ONLY place I ever have these problems is here in the SUBWOOFER section. Go figure.
  4. Do you ever have anything constructive to say?
  5. TheEAR makes it ever so apparent that he is the same as TheWOOFER who started all of the trouble in other threads. He even talks the same way as the trouble maker. Talk to ya later TheCLUELESS.
  6. No, the person who buys a pair of $13,000 monoblocks is a person that's loaded and can afford it. Nobody "needs" an amplifier of any size or price. Home audio is just a hobbie and/or passion for people/audiophiles. It is not a "need", it is a "WANT". What people "NEED" is a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, food on their table etc, etc, etc... Got the picture?!
  7. Yeah, you know a lot alright... [^o)] 1) So you like my new avatar? It's a pretty neat picture, isn't it! [] BTW, how do you get a "plastic faceplate" out of an all aluminum front panel on the Crown?! 2) I wasn't calling Klipsch subs "inferior" in general like you are referring to. I was saying that they would be considered "inferior" in a $140k stereo system. If you're going to invest $140k into a stereo, I'm sure the last sub you're going to think about buying is an RSW. The KW-120-THX would be a much better choice if anything. Also, it's funny that before you were praising those "low end Earthquake subbies" more than I was. Now all of the sudden, they are "cheap knock-offs" with "much reduced performance". Granted, I don't think they're worth the MSRP, but for the $350 I paid for them, they did pretty darn good. I bet you don't even know if you're coming or going, do you? Make up your mind, please. 3) Considering I joined up here over 2 years ago, I am by no means considered a newbie. BTW, who was giving orders?!?! [:^)] 4) Is that a fact about Dynaudio?!?! Funny all the studios I've seen use Westlake Audio, JBL, B&W, Wilson Audio, and a few new companies with self-powered monitors that I have not heard of, but I have never seen or heard of a studio using Dynaudio. Not that I've ever really researched it, mainly because I don't really care. 5) You don't spit on Klipsch?! Really?! Are you absolutely sure about that?! Excuse me if I'm wrong, but didn't you just call my KLIPSCH Cornwalls "boomboxes"?!?!?! Yeah, I'm sure Klipsch takes a whole lot of pride in you calling the Cornwalls boomboxes. So how's that for a best shot? LOL BTW, could you please stop calling my "Chopsy"? I'm starting to wonder if you are getting a little sweet towards me and that idea just disturbs me. [:$] "and Dynaudio's know how surpasses pretty much all the competition" And you came up with this conclusion how?! I have not said one bad thing about Dynaudio at all. In fact, they make great equipment. Sure, the Contour speakers are nice, but they are NOT the best thing out there. It all depends on who's listening to them and what they prefer. BTW, do you honestly think Dynaudio will keep the Contour in production for the next 50 years like my Klipsch "Boomboxes"? (as you so elequintly called them) If you'd like, I could do a search on Map Quest for the nearest Palm View facility in your area. I'm always willing to help out a fellow forum member in need. []
  8. Oh I know. Trust me, you don't have to tell me. I'd gladly take take speakers like Tannoy Westminster's, Westlake Audio Tower SM-1's, Legacy Audio Helix's, or Altec A7's over any of the Dynaudio lineup. Heck, I'd even take my modded Cornwalls over the Dyna's. And I don't a $50k - $75k CD player. Just give me Wadia 270se with the matching 27ix Decoding Computer. []
  9. Holy pooh! You want to feed 475 watts into each rf-83?! [] One thing you may not have to worry about with the XTi 2000 on the rf-83's is that they probably won't make the amp work all that hard and the fan will never come on. Even with my smaller XTi 1000 pulling subwoofer duty, the fan only comes on for a few brief seconds while playing very bass heavy music, and that's only at extremely loud volumes.
  10. Ahh... Did I touch a nerve? Is it too much for a split personality guy like you to understand? And you're right, this IS a Klipsch Subwoofer forum. So why don't you STOP yacking about your Dynaudio tower speakers in the SUBWOOFER section, pack your bags and hit the road as well?!?! And if you think it's impossible for a less expensive system to sound better than a more expensive one, then yes, you DO need to be educated. Have a good evening TheWHO_SHOULD_I_BE_TODAY.
  11. Here's the latest. I now have the amp bridged mono, so now I'm getting 1000 watts to the sub. Surprisingly enough, the bass tightened up a bit more and seems a little deeper although the overall output is the same. Hmm... Oh, and I also put some nice good quality rubber feet on it, so it's not sitting flat on the amp stand anymore and can't slide around. Anyway, I took a few more pics just for fun. Go figure! []
  12. Have you tried different power outlets or cheater plugs to try and solve the hum problem?
  13. I thought for sure in one of your other posts in another thread, you told someone to either insert a 20 ohm or two 10 ohm resistors across the #0 and 5 taps. However, that might have been for a totally different thing alltogether. So if I'm getting this right (which I'm probably not), putting a 10 ohm resistor will pretty much make my network a constant impedence design? I feel that there's probably a bit more involved than just that, huh?
  14. That's nothing. Just yesterday it was 95* with 90% humidity in lovely Florida. [li]
  15. If I "stick" to the simple rules, then how would that be considered going into new territory in the DIY world? Also, what about that 20 ohm resistor on the autoformer? I've tried researching it on the forum, but all I see are people adding them and not explaining why. And as for the woofer, I'm sure someone around here has put the K-33E or Bob's CT1526 to the test as far as full-out measurements are concerned. And couldn't some kind of diffuser be made to help with the beaming problem? If so, I might already have something in mind for that as well.
  16. Stop IFFING IF IF IF, when you have Bill Gates money you live in 40 plus million dollar home on your island and if you are an audiophile or like your hobby 13.5K is NOTHING. Heck maybe I am sick but so far I am over 140K invested into this hobby of audio, yes $140000,$20000 into RC and $38000 into computers and related stuff. Just because someone is rich like Bill Gates does not mean they go out and blow 10s and 100s of thousands of dollars on stereo, RC and computer equipment. And if they do, they must be trying to compensate for something. And sorry, but after seeing all this stuff with "TheEAR" and "TheWOOFER" and TheWHOEVER going around on the forum, I take everything any of you say with a grain of salt. And if you really had $140k invested in your audio system, I seriously doubt you would have a stack of inferior Klipsch subwoofers sitting in your room. And remember, I used to work in a ultra high-end audio shop a few years back. We had 2 dedicated 2-channel audio rooms. One of them had well over $350k of equipment in it while the other one had about $40k of equipment in it. Guess which system had the most votes for sounding the best... The $40k system by a long shot! All that $40k system had was a Wadia CD transport, 2 Mark Levinson monoblocks, and a pair of Thiel loudspeakers.
  17. Runs fine on my machine...performance isn't always about having the most expensive hardware. I don't know if or when I'll try running the Cornwalls with this amp. It's a royal PITA to get behind my stereo and make connections and move cables around. Maybe one of these days. And if the amp sounds good, then why not use it for home duty? To me, that just doesn't make sense. It's certainly quiet enough with a S/N ratio of <105dB. Also, I plan on doing the freq resp test again this weekend hopefully. As far as I can tell just by listening, it goes every bit as low as the last amp, but now just with a lot more power obviously. And as for the forum, it does seem faster than the old one, but still not as fast as it should/could be. And I have a busness class cable connection. (17 mbps)
  18. huh? No, not you. I'm referring to all the numb-nuts above with all their stupid "dang" crap. BTW, do you not like the aluminum and prefer the plastic? oh no I meant plastic as credit card but I cannot as I have no job at the moment. Oh yeah, got it now... [:$] Sorry, it's been a long day.
  19. I'm sorry, but even if I had Bill Gates' money, it would be a cold day in h3ll before I'd waste $13.5k on a pair of amps. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they aren't good amps, because I know that they are. There's just simply no way I could justify a purchase like that.
  20. huh? No, not you. I'm referring to all the numb-nuts above with all their stupid "dang" crap. BTW, do you not like the aluminum and prefer the plastic?
  21. It's becoming quite apparent that even a lot of the long time forum members are now becoming trolls.
  22. The entire front panel is solid aluminum. The amp seems very solid all the way around. Me likes! [H]
  23. All I gotta say is that this amp is pretty nice. DrWho, I'm willing to bet that the damping factor of 500 is fairly accurate. Or at least, this amp has absolutely no problems controlling these Dayton 15's of mine at any volume. The bass is very detailed at all freqs and volumes. Also, I have to say, this amp is dead silent in the room. I have noticed that the fan does not run at all durring normal music and playback levels. In fact, the only time the fan ever came on was when I was playing a CD by a band called Everything But The Girl. The album is labelled Temperamental. The track that I played was called "Compression". I usually use that track as a good subwoofer test. It has a major deep drum bass in it that starts 1:30 into the song and lasts for 6 minutes straight. It's pretty much a torcher test for amps and subs. The master volume was at -2 and I was running a sustained 105dB at my listening seat. After playing this track for the 4th time in a row, the fan finally came on towards the end of the song. About 10 seconds after the song was over, the fan shut off again. With music and movies at more normal levels and bass content, I highly doubt the fan will ever come on. And to my surprise, the amp was cool to the touch!! Yeah, I'm keeping this amp! [<)]
