You may get a quicker response in the 2 channel section. Carl

I've owned the RW-12 and didn't get that "punch you in the gut" feeling either. I don't think you can at that price point for a retailed sub when used in a moderate to decent sized listening room. Carl
-
It may be just me, but typically people that conduct polls ask a question and tabulate scores. Not wait for an answer and try to change your mind. Carl. Sorry to hear about the bee in your bonnet.

Then the Rules, Policies and Disclaimer page should reflect the fact that other brands should not be discussed. Everyone is playing by the rules. If Klipsch feels that a thread is inappropriate, they have the right to delete the post or possibly ban the poster. It seems that Klipsch does at times monitor these posts and lets them exist as is. I don't think that anyone is intentionally trying to hurt anyone's feelings, merely sharing whatever information they have. Carl

Should the 2 Channel Audio forum only refer to Aragon electronics? Seems like a slippery slope there. Carl

Probably not the best mental picture I have conjured up while reading a post! Carl

Any time I ever post about a sub, I always comment about how much I love my Klipsch speakers (I do own a brand X sub and have owned a Klipsch sub). This is an open forum for Klipsch enthusiasts to share thoughts on most things audio. Will there next be a similar comment on other threads about not talking about electronics other than Aragon? I think if Klipsch is scared about loosing their market share of sub sales, they need to take a long hard look at the competition and adjust their product/price/marketing strategies accordingly instead of trying to censor threads or opinions. That being said, If non brand equipment needs to be removed from my sig. or from my comments I will abide by the forum rules. I however think that Klipsch is missing the point. And yes, I LOVE my Klipsch speakers! Carl

I got my RF-7's at a B&M store for $1400.00 plus tax. I can't think of a better value off the top of my head. Shop, shop, shop. I love their sound and couldn't imagine what I would rather have at their price point. Carl
-
If the audio store he takes pics in doesn't carry SVS, how can he prove he "has" one?----------------
I allmost blew my drink out of my nose on that one Carl

According to the Ref-5 owners manual, bi-wiring is recommended as it gives improved bass response, imaging and detail. As 16 guage is the minimum thickness to drive those speakers, doubling it may help improve their performance. If Klipsch says it, it must be so? No? Carl
-
What guage were your wires in your original set up, and how long was the run? Did you change wire brands or just double what you originally had? Carl
-
If you don't get any response here, try the Hometheaterspot. There is an SVS site there. A lot of the guys own or have heard the Ultra. It is supposed to be a better sub than my PB2+ but your getting into the law of diminishing returns at that point. If you can afford it, go for it, but if you settle for the PB2+ (hard to think that it would be considered "settling")I can't see where you would ever be disapointed. Carl.
-
Check under the Reference section and go to the RVX54 page. Are those what you are talking about? Carl
-
I had an RW12, it was the first component of my HT that I upgraded. From everything that I have read, the PB1 will dig much deeper with HT and hold it's own with music. I absolutely my Klipsch speakers but was disapointed with the RW-12. Carl.

If tech support hasn't responded in a couple of hours, they must be having some sort of problem. Usually their responses are more like IM's than e-mail. Rest assured that you are in extremely good hands with SVS. They won,t rest till they have gotten to the cause of your problem. As far as performance in your room, it looks like you have about 1344 cu.ft. (assuming 8' ceilings). Your ISD should have no problem pressurising that space. Properly set up, "underwhelmed" will quickly turn to "overwhelmed" or OMG! Carl

Firefighter, wait till everyone is out of the house and rent U-571. Crank it up. Awesome LFE. Give yourself enough time to straighten your pictures out on the walls before everyone gets back. It will however take a while for the grin stuck on your face to subside. . Carl
-
I wouldn't. If you do that then you will be getting surround information to the part of the speaker and front information to the other part. Carl
-
I'm not surprised in the least. Your favorable experience seems to be the rule, not the exception with SVS service. Glad all is well. How do you like the sub? Carl
-
A 7dB swing with no EQ is pretty darn good. When you measured, did you use the compensation chart? If so, I would leave well enough alone. Usually you can get to within 5 dB with an EQ and 2-3 dB with a BFD. I wish I had your room. Carl
-
Had to throw a "Mr. Obvious" line out. Have you checked speaker phase? Carl
-
Virtually any speaker can be calibrated so that it will not "overpower" your other speakers. Once everything is set up correctly you have other issues at hand. You use your center channel for approx. 70% of a movies sound track. IMO, the center channel and sub are the 2 most important speakers in a HT. I've used the RC35 with the RF-5's and I really noticed a difference. You can hear a large difference with pink noise when you set the system up as well as when you watch a movie. I know...... all reference speakers should work together, but....... If there is ANY way possible, make room for the RC7, you'll be happy you did. Or, you could get the RC35 and then upgrade to the RC7 so that you can appreciate how much better the 7 really is. Carl
-
I believe that the RF-35 is a front ported design. That being the case I would think it would be fine as long as you don't recess them. Carl
-
The RC-7 is a great match for the RF-5's. I had that set up before I went up to the RF-7's. As long as you calibrate all your speakers with an SPL meter, you'll be fine. If you can swing the RC-7 over the RC-35, go for it. There really is no comparison. Carl
-
Sounds like it's time for some movies! There it really shines. Open Range will have you looking outside for lightning, U-571 will "blow" you away and the Haunting will have you checking your foundation, Master and Commander is a LFE treat. The list goes on and on....... Have fun, Carl.
RSW-15 vs. SVS PB12-Ultra/2 for music only

I'm sure I'll catch some flack on this but........ For music, to me it is more important to have the sub set up correctly than the brand. To me, once you cross the $1000.00 threshold, you are getting a pretty decent sub no matter what the brand. The musicality and speed are very much dependant upon location and phase setting. A $2000.00 sub that is not callibrated correctly sounds worse than a $1000.00 sub set up right. The canned answers that you are looking for are that the Klipsch subs have more slam and the SVS subs dig deeper and have a flatter response. I'll head for cover now. Carl
