  1. Hi Kathy, Well like I mentioned earlier without giving to much away about the gentleman I can say he had some of the nicest stuff I've ever seen. These had been sitting wrapped up for about 2 years. Put it this way. He probably had more value in tubes sitting in 1 small drawer than I have ever had in all my equipment over the years. Having all that costly equipment he still said he loved the Klipschorns but was moving on to some custom made horns. I hope my invite is still open to go back in July to his house for a listen , and mabye do some more shopping!
  2. Didn't hear them yet but I'll put it this way there was no way I was going to pass up his very generous offer.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions keep em comin. I should mention dont worry about chair placement or the WAF because this room is my personal space I share it with nothing else. When we built or house I made sure everyone had plenty of room so I could have mine.
  4. It was my Birthday and Christmas all together. I was thinking how small everything looked compared to the Khorns also.
  5. The khorns are in nice corners. The corners are 20 ft apart and the fit nicely. Are the horns supposed to be shooting at my listening postion? If so I would only be about 10 ft away? That can't be right? Im getting the kids off to school and will have all day alone to try different postions. Any suggestions? With my Cornwalls I had them about 15 ft apart and sat around the same distance away with the speakers just slightly toed-in and had perfect imaging. These Khorns are new to me.
  6. Heres a few picks. Left early expecting rain. Well for once the weather guy was right. It rained all the way up there and back! Finally made good time and welcome to the Bay Area! :'( Well time to head home and like any good father made sure all my kids were straped in safely! I'm so proud! Only once did I have to say "If I have to pull over you gonna be sorry!" :-/ After many mountain dew's and some coffee and a taco truck I'm only a few miles away!Things are getting fuzzy by now almost 8 hrs round trip. One picture of all the kids before I split them up and get them settled in their perspective places. And finally one of the little ones I felt sorry for as I brought him and his brother home as well.
  7. Hey fini you should replace our local weather guy. It rained all the way up there and most of the way back. At one point I had to pull over in Los Banos for about 10 minutes my wipers could'nt keep up. Needed a frapachino anyway. Got there and hung out with the gentleman for a couple of hours. I must say a BEAUTIFUL home overlooking the bay. 3 stories and I was lucky he had the speakers moved to the street level. I had a great time talking audio and tubes and..... well you know.He had some of the nicest gear I've ever seen but out of respect for his privacy I won't go into his inventory. It was AMAZING though. We'll before you know it I had to get out and on my way home for the 3 1/2 hour drive back wich I was sure was gonna feel like cross country. I'll post some pics of the journy and the final arrival of the beautiful Khorns at my house. Needless to say Im proud to announce I came home with an unexpected pair of nice Wright Sound WPA3.5 Mono Block 2A3 single-ended power amps also. Now I'm gonna have to figure where to sit so I can have a listen. They are in perfect corners 20 feet apart right now as I gaze at them. Today was a good day indeed!
  8. Ok Im leaving to get my khorns. Im taking my camera (as I'm a photographer and never leave anywhere without it) and should be back around 8 or 9p.m.pacific time. See you then.
  9. I do not know the seller but thought I would pass this along. They look nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5772179143&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  10. Ill be bar-b-qing for my mom I suppose and doing a whole lot of anything my wife wants also.
  11. Your close by very close. Cool. Hopefully I will be safely listening to my khorns in a few days and leave the climb to someone in better shape than me. LOL! That whole area is relly growing though your right.
  12. I know johnyholiday. Im glad my cornwalls did ot sale. I weathered the tuff stuff for a while and came out in a very good way with my job finally after many years of being self employed. At times I think it would have been easier woking for someone else. Good times now though.
  13. Thanks everyone. Mustang1 these things sat on ebay for a day and a half brfore I saw them.
  14. Well I was hoping to take my Chevy Tahoe with all the seats flush down except the drivers seat of course but I,m not sure it looks close. Even with just a tape measure these speakers are big!
  15. You guys are fast. Thank you very much Budman.
  16. I was wondering how tall the bottom section with the horn off was. Ill be picking mine up and need to know. I know the over all is 53" but was wondeing how tall they would be minus the horns. Thanks.
  17. I better get them I paid for half of them already. LOL!
  18. Parrot, I was thinking the same thing and reminded him they were sold. He said he knew and laughed.
  19. Ha. He said he brought them out into a hallway to take the pics. He has a 3 story house he says I hope theese are not on the 3rd story.
  20. Well I just got off the phone with the gentlemen I bought the speakers from. Well he definatly loves his audio also. He explained he spent between 700-800 upgrading the crossovers. He also asked if he could hook them up one last time so he and I could have a listen before I took them. Get this he started going down a list of stuff he has like tube amps ad stuff and Meridian speakers and such. He said he had some Cary 805c monoblocks "laying around" that he could hook up if I'd like to listen to them. Im very excited to go get theese speakers, and to know their history. I can't wait!!
  21. Hey seti, Our 12th anniversary is in a few days so I can take her a senic drive to the Bay area to help me pick these up. You think she'll buy that.
  22. Thanks Ed, I may have to have you over to help unload these beasts. Whats your favorite poison so I can have it cold for ya! LOL!
  23. No but heres a quote from DeanG "Well, someone went ape #### and did a beautiful job. I see copper foil wiring (probably Alpha Core), Jensen copper/foil Paper in Oils in the HF section (hideously expensive), and some other caps I can't identify. However, considering the quality of work and quality of the parts I can recognize, it's not likely anything in that network is cheap or done halfway. I can't identify the network type from the picture, but since the picture shows the autoformer still in use -- we can safely assume it's a Klipsch network (circuit). '84 should be the AK network, but since he modded it, he may have upgraded it to a newer network." The guy is gonna call me back in a while with directions and details .I'm excited.
