  1. >>BTW Kenstr - very nice room. It's spooky how similiar >>our rooms are. Is there a window behind your screen? >>If so, what did you do to hide it or block off the >>light? >>Tom Hey Tom - it is weird how similar our rooms are - I also built my AV rack into the wall. I have an almost identical window behind the screen. The window has a cheap mini-blind on it and the screen is a da-lite C - pulldown. The screen is black on the back and I have black velveitine velcro'd to the bottom of the screen to cover the rest of the window. This darkens the room almost totally in the middle of the day. The screen is down most of the time but when the kids play up there the screen goes up to let the light in.
  2. My humble setup. More pics in my avsforum gallery: More Pics here Ken
  3. Ha, thats funny. I had the exact opposite reaction when I picked up 4 RB25's. Dude brings out 2 boxes ! Since my RB35's were 1 per box I made him open up the RB25 box and prove there were 2 in there.
  4. I have my RC-7 sitting on this stand: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ZCBpmzsJMqI/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=15&g=142050&I=051NFC18C&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= Matches it perfect and it has tilt pins to raise it up

In other words, I believe $800 will allow you to buy a pair of bookshelves that will sound better than an $800 pair of floorstanders. For example, Klipsch RF-25s(45Hz-20kHz, 97dB/1W/1m) have an MSRP of $800/pr whereas the RB-35s(45Hz-20kHz, 96dB/1W/1m) have an MSRP of $600/pr. ---------------- I went on this same idea when deciding what to get for my HT front left and right speakers. The difference for me was that I compared the SAME price range bookshelf vs floor. So for my $600 it was the RB35 vs the RF15 (they are both the exact same price). To me it was no question that the RB35 sounded better. Not sure I agree about the RB35 vs RF25 but when comparing the same dollar amount and speaker brand I think the bookshelf usually wins.
  6. I will agree with some of the other's who suggest the RB-25's over the RB-35's. I run 2 HT's one with RB-35's and an RC-7 and the other with RB-25's and an RC-35. I love them both the the RB-25 setup has the bigger bang for the buck. I'm not a big fan of the RC-25 - I had one and moved to an RC-35. It just sounds better with the RB-25's to me. I have the RB-25 setup in room that is 20x25 and it is plenty loud.

Yeah, saying you have a 7.1 may sound more impressive than a 6.1..... ---------------- The reason for going 7.1 has nothing to do with a more impressive array of speakers. It has do do with the very reason 7.1 came about. I couldn't find the article at dolby but I snipped this from thread over on avsforum. --------- The main drawback for using a sixth rear center channel is a psycoacoustic phenonenon known as "rear-front reversal". It seems that we human beings are not good when hearing sounds coming from the back, particularly sounds located exactly behind our head. The rear-front reversals phenomenon causes that a sound that is coming behind our ears is perceived as if it were coming directly from the front. This phenomenon can be easily prevented using two seperated rear surround speakers located behind our head. ...snip... The reasons for seven rather than six rear speakers have been discussed repeatedly--a search will yield a lot of information about front-back reversal effects. It's the reason why THX EX, Dolby EX, DTS ES, as well as proprietary processing from Lexicon and Meridian ALL specify the use of dual rears. A single rear center speaker is psychoacoustically flawed. --------- This is just about what I remember reading at dolby expliaining why 7.1 came to be.
  8. I believe it was the Knoxville TN store - but they will transfer it to any store. btw - they will not ship outside of NC or TN. (that would break the authorized dealer rules.....)
  9. Currently I have RS-35's on the sides and an RC-35 in the back center (6.1). The RC-35 is moving to HT#2. I am thinking about putting RB-25's in the back to go 7.1 What makes more sense for 7.1 - RS's in the back and sides or RB's all around or a combo of RS and RB ?
  10. A few weeks back a bunch of us were going on about the closeout sale at NowAudio (in NC and TN) on Klipsch products. They don't have much left but when I was there the other night I inquired about RF-7's. They have 1 RF-7 (cherry new in box) for 400 bucks ! I don't know who would want just one but I thought I'd mention it in case someone close to NC was looking for just 1.

But I thought a progessive signal was better than a interlaced? I figured out to stop the disc first last night! Hey did you apply any one of those firmware patches or plan to? Thanks ---------------- The players optimal output is 1080i over component. Nope on the firmware - if it ain't broke - don't fix it.

  13. One of the binding posts on my RC-7 is loose. When you tighten it, it will just keep spinning - it never gets tight. Sounds fine but I'm wondering if it is a problem.
  14. Can't upconvert while playing. Press stop, then push upconvert twice, pannel will display change for a couple of sec. Then push play. Should fix you up. I've had this player for several months now - love it.
  15. All you can ever want to know about this player can be found here..... http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=400480
