  1. A Velodyne HGS-15 is just an average performer these days, nothing special displacement wise. A JL f112 does slightly better and the f112 is just a capable smallish sealed sub.SQ wise the HGS/DD line is clearly superior to most subs ,even today`s good performers.

These Emotiva subs(bass modules due to limited LF extension) are great for someone who has a very small room and is not demaning too much(does not know much better).

I use TC Sounds LMS Ultra (14 of them) coupled to 15 and 18`s from DIY Cable in sealed cabinets. Displacement over 120L (Xmax), to me all commercial subs bore me.

I need something that is capable of insane output below 10Hz and can cause damage above 16Hz. Plus 70KW + of power is not there for show only, ...just sick.

I have and had the best commercial subs, dozens of em, once you go DIY(serious heavy weight ,heavy ticket) you never..EVER go back.

Listen to a dynamic pipe organ recording, it has to be mighy and cannot strain.Displacement is KING when you reach down very deep.

  2. These little shakers do not replace subwoofers. You cannot masquerade some VIBRATOR for a subwoofer(capable of actual clean acoustic output).

These shakers are a compliment to subs. Nothing more.

I use enough subs to even make shakers obsolete. Proper displacement is key.

  3. Yep the Palladium center is a killer, I love mine. [:D] For me it will be palladium all the way all around. Now the stand mounted and center, mains comming in August. So clean,so detailed...so transparent ! Klipsch got me fired up again, I hope more discover the majesty of the Palladium line.

  4. About the great PRC quality. I own many Klipsch speakers from RB5's ,RC7,RF5's,RF7's...Palladium,many Klipsch Reference subs. The built quality(this includes fir and finish, attention to detail...even small detail)is OK. Not great. If you find it great then you have not had the chance to get products that are made with an obsessive attention to detail. I also have Paradigm(made in Canada)and these range from the basic Atom to the Signature series and I also have a few Signature series subs.Again well made but lack that attention to fine detail !

On paradigm I have got new out of the box subs that had air leaks! new Signature speakers with...air leaks again, misaligned stickers(on a flagship product)!!!And badges unglued! Funny but leaving alot to be desired.

With Klipsch I had ports glued improperly ,moving..I could rmove the ports on my RB5's and RF7's...with ease! One woofer on the RF7 ,screws not torqued!

On the Palladium the jumpers ,one has spots of what looks like rust! Again nothing much but tells me quality control was asleep.

You want to know what products were flawless time after time? Dynaudio(I have the Contour and Confidence series). Each speaker came perfect, with every detail inspected as I have found zero miss aligned labels and all screws torqued properly. Not a fly sat on these. All are made at the same factory in Europe and they still make a good profit. The fit and finish clearly above 90% of all the competitors I have inspected and OWNED.I have some for over 12 years with near abuse, they are even covered with wood finish on the inside of the cabinet! Even the low cost Audience40 I had and sold, came perfect.

Maybe I am used to very high standards? Maybe when I build a server or upscale gaming machine for a customer I put that extra special something that puts my competition to shame. I laugh when I open my competition's machines and start pointing out the flaws and slips. To me attention to small details counts, counts alot. Even a dumb static...sticker has to be aligned. or else it looks like a sloppy half A job finished a few minutes before the weekend.

  5. Array composed of 15 and 18" TC Sounds LMS/5400 Ultra drivers in sealed cabinets powered by Crown iTech and QSC PowerLight amps.Bass so defined it is cut with a razor, so capable you are in awe of the bottomless might. Well recorded pipe organ muisc reaches full majesty. cannot be well described.

A total reference, no commerial sub can match it. And this is not a little empty brag. I have and had so many top rated subs, they are ok but TheWALL is simply so much more capable, in extension, output and above all level of definition you can only achieve when using multiple outstanding drivers powered by many kilowatts of quality power. All this set up for the room and not to overpower the rest of the spectrum.

So when people tell me how amazing an SVS Ultra or JL Audio f113 is...LOL Sure they are very good, but there is BETTER, clearly better. The Klipsch Palladium and THX subs are also very good but they can only move so much air and are optimised to extend only that deep.

Problem is most will not find the will, space and money to go as far. This array will take ~190 cu ft. of volume and weigh ~3200 lbs (plus amps) and cost around 60K. So this represents my ultimate goal in bass.

Oh and I am bringing back the Paradigm Sub1 and adding two Sub2 subs(each uses six 10" drivers backed by over 3KW RMS amps on board), my decorative subs. [:D] I have more displacement than major cinemas(in the sub bass).

  6. I find the Klipsch Palladium series speakers to best Paradigm's Signature with ease, however Paradigm's Signature subs have the edge over the Palladium sub, I took the Sub 1 over the Palladium sub. And ordered the Paradigm Sub 2 heavyweight...JL Gotham competitor.

All in all the angels sing and the muisc is simply there. But the ultimate sub cannot be purchased at any store, it will be finished this summer... TC Sounds LMS 5400/Ultra 14 times (eight 15's and six 18's) and 14 DIY Audio drivers( six Maelstrom-X and eight Tempest-X)backed by 14 QSC(PowerLight,PLX2 and Crown iTech,XTI)amps. Now who would want to outdisplace that array? In the wings I am also building four Tuba HT horn subs and Building new ported cabinets for my Acoupower 18's.

Breaking these babies in, out of the box they offer alot as it is, cannot wait to break them in fully and enjoy them. next up the palladium center and floorstanders. The subs next to them are JL Audio and Paradigm Signature Sub1(Sub2 on the way).

Thank you Klipsch for a great new line of gorgeous speakers, finally build quality to match the sound. [:D]

I am powering these with HALO JC1 monoblocks today, last night I had a Bryston 4B SST powering them. I will try more of my amps as I go...

To the klipsch team, a job well done! The Palladium line are worthy High-End contenders.

  8. Well I was not able to post last night, too many pieces of gear to move...[:S] Today I will. [:D]

Sorry Sunday I was too taken with music, tonight I post pictures and ...impressions. Know they are positive, very positive. The Palladium are tuly Klipsch finest effort in the compact segment. Now I wish Klipsch made a larger stand mounted version, selling point 8-9K using the flagship mid-bass.

So Klipsch you have another Palladium owner,a very happy owner here.

    Images up shortly...

  9. Hello fellow Klipschers just purchased the P-17B last night, unpacked them and set them up. A few things to note.

The cabinets are gorgeous, great fit and finish. The zebra wood finish is truly a sight, the drivers of high quality, binding posts very solid and look great, I like the keyed binding posts. The gold plated jumpers need better quality control , one had spots on it looked like ...rust! Not too great the PRC quality control.

Now the sound is clearly more focused, detailed and transparency on another level than the Klipsch reference RB5's, compared to Dynaudio Confidence C1's it was a close run. The C1 overall more natural sounding, I have to say both are not broken in and fresh out of boxes. I will give my verdict in 200-300 hours of use. For now ,as they are they sound great. I use a Bryston 4B SST to drive the Klipsch Berkeley DAc for digital to analog conversion, a reference class DAC known in the High-End to compete with the ubber multi piece DACs costing several times more.Preamp used Parasound HALO JC2, just about as neutral as it gets, transparency supreme. And Pioneer DV-AX10 to play SACD's fed direct to JC2.

This morning after around 30 hours of break in I was impatient to hear the Palladium again. I selected the following...

Sheffield Jazz Experience a classic used countless times for demos Sierra Highways- Pat Coil.

Sheffield Pop Experience Til They My heart Away- Clair Marlo

Chesky Westminster Choir O Magnum Mysterium

Chesky Audiophile Vocal Recordings Isn't She Lovely- Livingston Taylor

Reference Recordings Organ Odyssey- Mary Preston (sub assisted,Sub1)

Reference Recordings Pomp & Pipes (sub assisted,Sub1)

Reference Recordings The Bach Gamu- Virgil Fox (sub assisted,Sub1)

    GRP All Star BIG BAND

    GRP Lee Ritenour Collection

A few on Candyrat, Stefano Barone,Steffen Schackinger, Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour and Kelly Valleau (all guitar recordings)

    Niacin Niacin Live!

    Bliss Quiet Letters (U.S. Edition)

    Al-Andalus Ensemble 21 Strings

    Daniel Lanois Shine

Dean Magraw / Jim Anton & JT Bates Unseen Rain

    After Hours George Duke

111 Years of Deutsche Grammophon The Swan- Mischa Maisky

Plenty of listening today, I will report tonight.

A simple headphone holder I made, on wall and can hold 18 large headphones. Used for DJ,studio monitoring and entry High-End cans.

My humble desk O headphones overview...

And to say once upon a time I could not even afford the mid priced Koss! Well...times have changed just a little. [:D]

  11. SVS 13 Ultra, both musical, capable of high output and ...articulate(I did say musical right?)

I have never purchased Definitive Tech subs,I had borrowed some to test, nothing special. Not the SuperCube Reference, just the slightly smaller SuperCube.

Once you hear the 13 Ultra...you will have Zero regrets and be all smile.

My next set of orders will come from SVS(dual 13 Ultra) and HSU(dual ULS-15). Not I need them... I do not and I have better(multiple TC Sounds LMS5400/Ultra powered by QSC PL380's)but...

Well no if's of but's...I like all higher quality subs. [:D]

  12. Better at 1/3 the cost. LARGER, do not think size does not matter for people. It does more you may want to admit it.

All competition is much larger than the f113, face the facts. The SVS Ultra is a good deal larger, the HSU 15" sealed is larger and not better performing.Less expensive,oh yes and a better value.

And the economy in the USA is ..less than stellar these days. How many people have lost their homes...I will answer for ya... Millions, do you think this has no impact on people selling audio gear. Hmmm? Hmmm

Lets be realistic and grounded on planet Earth for a minute ,shall we.

Better yet build a Tuba HT sub(horn loaded) ,for $350 driver and cabinet material including plans ,plus maybe $250 for an amp you murder the Internet Direct subs. So...you can always do better.
