    What I Got Today!

I've had a great week!! I've been wanting this since its release, and when I saw it for a great price as one of Best Buy's "Deals Of The Day" last week, I decided it was time to pull the trigger. It arrived today, and I cannot wait to play them this weekend...

    What I Got Today!

Also, I got this 2011 Chevy Malibu LT, and I'll be picking it up today before work. I was in an accident last Sunday (8/10). A guy ran a stop sign and we collided, and my car was a total loss...

    What I Got Today!

A Teac CD-1000 SACD player. It is an excellent looking and well built unit, and while I've only had the time to play a couple of discs so far, it sounds great!! I ordered a CD-2000 (basically the same unit w/XLR out connections) from Hi-Fi Heaven a couple of weeks ago, only to have them email me the next day saying they were out of stock.
  6. No longer for sale, as I've decided to hang on to it...
  7. I really like this receiver and wanted to hang on to it, but I must sell it to help pay for my latest audio purchase. I bought it to use temporarily after putting my Yamaha Aventage receiver up for sale. For about 3 weeks I used it as a 2.1 channel receiver, then as a 2.1 preamp for a few more weeks. It performed perfectly during that time. It sounds pretty warm and musical for an AVR (typical Marantz), and its internal amp section had more than enough power for my setup. This unit has a very good build quality, and in particular, the large knobs on the front panel have a very solid feel to the touch & they are a joy to turn. The receiver is in very good condition overall. The top cover has some scratches/scrapes on it, but no dents. I was thinking about having it sand blasted and then repainting it, but I didn't bother. The faceplate is near perfect and looks great. Overall, it looks very good in the average room lighting, I had it on the top of my rack and was not embarrassed for people to see it. In fact, the few people that saw it said "nice Marantz" I'd rate it at about a 7/10 on the audiogon scale. Operationally, it performed flawlessly for me. However, there are 2 things I want to mention: The display is pretty dim (nowhere near as bright as they look in my pics), and there is not a dimmer on the receiver or remote. Speaking of the remote, it does not come with the original LCD remote, but a different Marantz remote that controls most functions of the SR8200. I set it up for my 2.1 setup quickly and easily from the front panel controls, without the need to have it hooked up to a monitor. Also, as was typical of a/v receivers of its time, it can (and does) take a couple of seconds to lock on to a signal when using a digital connection, making you miss a bit of the beginning of a CD. Included in the sale is the Marantz SR8200 receiver, Marantz remote, and generic 18 gauge power cord. I do not have the original packaging, but will double box it and insure it for the full value of the sale. My asking price is $225 PLUS SHIPPING (UPS only). Keep in mind this is a very large and heavy receiver, so depending on where you are located, it could be expensive to ship. Figure on a package of about 24" x 24" x 14" and approx 55 lbs. Product page: http://us.marantz.com/DocumentMaster/US/c_sr8200.pdf Manual: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/516...tz-Sr8200.html 2 large (27000 uF) caps. Photo was taken before cleaning...

    What I Got Today!

Also, I ordered a Teac Distinction Series CD-2000 SACD player in silver. It looks like it will match the appearance of my Parasound components well, and hopefully their sound quality. I've been curious about this series of players since their release. I saw it for a price I could not resist (even cheaper than the lower end CD-1000) here: http://hifiheaven.net/store/Products/Super-Audio-CD-CD-Players--and-Transports/TEAC-Distinction-Series-CD-2000-CD-Player It will be connected to my Parasound P5 via XLR connections. I'm anxious to put it through its paces... (this photo is actually of the CD-3000, but they look identical)

    What I Got Today!

From a friend & co-worker yesterday: Approx 120 records, 100+ cassette tapes (mostly home mixes) with 4 storage cases, and some 8-track tapes (lol). Price= FREE!! I've picked out about 10 LP's that look pretty playable, that I'm going to clean and play some of tonight. In particular, I'm anxious to play the "Revolver" LP.. It's going to be a fun evening...
  10. Great to hear my friend! Hopefully, after I finish my machinist class the end of September, I'll be joining you for some late night music listening once again in the "RTM" thread...

    What I Got Today!

These new TOYS just arrived!! I have to get ready for work soon and don't have the time for any more "audio porn" pictures, more to come over the weekend. For now, I am getting ready to hook them up and try them out....
  12. I don't believe so, but I can check later this evening when I get home from work. In the meantime, perhaps someone else that knows will chime in... Rick
  13. I am now able to accept PayPal as payment for this and/or any other sales that I list here from this point on. I re-joined PayPal to purchase the B&K amp last weekend...
  14. Here is a very nice JVC R-S33 stereo receiver, from the home of the original owner (my landlady/friend). It spent its entire life in an enclosed cabinet, and was seldom used. I can only find one blemish that keeps it from looking almost new... I used it in my main rig for a week to test all functions, and it performs 100%. There is no scratchiness in any of the controls, and it only has one physical blemish that I can see that keeps it from being near mint. All lights work, as do the led power meters... It will be very lovingly packed (double boxed), and comes with a 30 day money back guarantee... Also, I am now able to accept PayPal as payment for this and/or any other sales that I list here from this point on. I re-joined PayPal to purchase the B&K amp last weekend... Price= $109 SHIPPED This (barely noticeable) chip in the veneer is the only flaw I can find...
  15. 4th of July price reduction (the only one there will be on this sale) to $625 SHIPPED...
