  1. Hi Amy, The wires that come with the system are fine, no doubt, but the option "was" there to make them better. That is the big issue. If someone purchased the promedia system and were happy with the stock wires that came with the system then all is well. If a person purchased the promedia system and wanted to take their system to the next level, they could upgrade if they chose to do so. It's all about choice, which Klipsch is fully aware that people like these choices because they offer wire upgrades on their site. The length of the wire is also the other issue. Quite a few people mount their speakers on a wall or on stands and need more or less length. The thing is, even as small as it was, it was a feature that gave you "choice" and even if some people didn't use it, it was nice to know it was available. As far as not recommending these speakers to other people, I don't think I would "not" recommend them. They are still very good sounding speakers with the stock wire, they just no longer have the ability to be awesome sounding. Amy, I urge you to get a pair of your Monster Cable wires and hook them up for a week. I would be very surprised if you didn't notice a difference. You might not right out of the box, but after you listen to songs you have listened to before, you will notice the music will have more depth and you might even hear things you hadn't before. The other factor that comes into play is your name. Klipsch is very well respected and well known for building some of the best speakers around. This mini-jack issue would probably never problem with creative, logitech...etc. Those manufacturers do not build high end speakers. I would bet that 30-40% of the people that own your promedia systems own another Klipsch product. It would be interesting to do a poll on that in this forum. These customers expect a good product and are probably the most demanding customers you have. I do have to say though, that this forum is probably one of the best around. There are not many forums where you can actually talk to a representative of the company. For that, I applaud you. First rate service all the way and I mean that sincerely. Amy, I want you do know that none of my dissappointment with this issue reflects upon you. I really do hope that Klipsch will find a way to fix their mini-jack issue and I hope they bring out another 5.1 system. I think you guys got off the bandwagon too soon when you discontinued the 4.1 & 5.1 series.
  2. Actually I can say that I wish they didn't have the problems. As far as cashing in on their problems, cables & connectors do not fix problems, they are upgrade accessories. I just make the wires because it is something I enjoy doing and it was a nice option to be able to upgrade your speaker wire if you choose too. The problem now is that the option to upgrade your wires is not available anymore. Even with the small issues, they still are, hands down, the best PC Speakers for music.
  3. As far as the "entry level" icon speakers not having a full removable grille is unacceptable. This is something I expect from sounddesign or kraco but not Klipsch. Seriously....you made the grille for the horn tweeter removable, why not just make the whole grille removable? I know there were problems in the past with the synergy series grilles and the plastic pins breaking off, then just use a different design. Honestly, people would pay an extra $50 for this feature. I know that this might not be a "big deal" to some, but I am a working man and darn it, I want to be able to see the drivers for the speakers I am purchasing (and not just on a website) if I am going to plop down $1000. Most people that are going to spend that kind of money (myself included) are making an investment in speakers that they can keep for a very long time. Heck, even the promedia computer satellites have a full removable grille...what's next? Are you guys going to get rid of binding posts and "hard wire" the reference series speakers and make their grilles non-removable? Come'on guys, you are one of the most respected speaker builders in the audio community. Time to get back to basics and start building good quality speakers like you used to do.
  4. I completely agree with Mr. Clean on this issue. There were no problems with the jacks. This is obviously a cost cutting measure. If it were not a cost cutting measure and there truly was a problem with the jacks, then why wouldn't you use quality wires for these "hard wired" satellites instead of the cheap 24 gauge kmart wire? Also, I know that this might not be the right area in the forums to bring this up but as far as the "entry level" icon speakers not having a full removable grille is unacceptable. 5. Hi Amy, In regards to your question: I want to make sure I understand... The speaker wire does not even come out of the speaker? I don't believe we did this, as far as I know. Our wires for the 2.1 are still open end on one side and mini-plug connection on the other. I'll try to find out more Monday. Yes, the speaker wire does not even come out. There are several customer who said they ordered Promedia Speakers directly from Klipsch and this is how they came. The picture in the above posting is shows that the wire is not removable. Have you found out any new information? Thanks, Nick
  6. What is the deal?!? I just found out that now the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's do not have removable speaker wire? The customer is stuck with the crap wire that comes with them? Geez, at least if Klipsch is going to make it so that the customer can not upgrade their systems, they should provide them with good quality wires in the first place. As a side note, I also noticed that the icon series speakers that are at Best Buy do not have a removable lower grille?!? It seems that Klipsch is more interested in cutting corners these days than making a quality product. It's a complete shame.. I know that these days, the bottom line is of utter importance, but you would be surprised at how many people will pay up for a good quality product..
  7. I second Mr. Clean on that..would be nice to have a 7.1 system. I just wish my Revolution 5.1 sound card worked with Vista. That sound card made my Klipsch sing like mad.
  8. I have heard good things about Mr. Clean's wires as well. I know for a fact that there is probably no one more qualified in this forum for Control Pod repair than him, which I am sure with my 4 sets of Promedia's, I will utilize his services soon. [] I know that we can both agree that no matter who's wires you choose, either pair will be a definate upgrade from the stock wires that come with your systems. I believe (for the money) there are no better computer speakers out there that even come close to the imaging, detail, and low end response that these promedias can provide. I really believe in the Klipsch product and anything I can do to help someone enjoy their promedias even more is the reason I make these wires. I do my best to produce a quality alternative for the customers that do not want to make their own wires or spend too much on other pre-made wires. I wish everyone in here a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season!
  9. Hi guys & gals, I wanted to let you know that I make wire sets for the Promedia 2.1 / 4.1 systems as well as the GMX 2.1 / 5.1 system. I really appreciate your endorsement on here msamusick!! You can find my wires on ebay, just search "promedia wire". If you have any questions, please drop me a note at njbenz79@sbcglobal.net. Have a great holiday season!!
  10. Hi, Okay, I tested the sub out by connecting it to my home stereo and it works. I have 3 pair of promedia 2.1's (guess you could say I'm a fan!!) LOL. Anyways, I connected the subwoofer to a different control pod and the same thing happened, no sound from the sub. So I think it is safe to say that it is the subwoofer part of the amp. Is there anything I could look for in there to possibly repair it. I'm great a soldering. Thanks for your response!
  11. Hi, I have a quick question. I have a 2.1 promedia system and there is no sound coming from the subwoofer. The two satellite speakers work fine, but there is not even a peep from the sub. I was wondering if there was any way to test to see if it is the actual subwoofer driver or the amp. Thanks!
  12. I appreciate the science class! LOL Anyways, I guess I can make this simple, will the stainless steel ones work satisfactory or no? I do not need audiophile quality sound from this unit. I just don't want to damage it. Thanks!
  13. Hi, I just acquired an old Marantz 2230 receiver and it does not have the jumpers for the amp section. I have an 1/8 circular piece of stainless steel. If I cut this to size and form it, can I use this homemade jumper without any risk of damaging the unit? I'm just not sure if stainless steel would work well as a jumper. Thanks for your help!
