  1. Guys I am debating on getting the Marantz SR8500 and using it as a pre amp. My current choice is the B&K Reference 50 S2. However, I could save money going with the SR8500. All my current system is Marantz and I am happy with them. If anyone has word on the SR8500 let me know. Great review on the SR7500!
  2. Dang it. Now you have me squeezing the RF7's into the mix. If I can fit all my component's and center speaker on the Bello PVS-4207T stand I can get the Rf7's to fit. http://www.bello.com/Plasma/pvs-4207t.asp The RC7 would need to be on the bottom pushed all the way to the side. The B&K ref 50 and Monster power HTS 5100 would have to sit snug with it on the lower shelf. Then I can put my amp on one side on the top shelf. Then put my cable box and dvd on the other side. Sit my tv on the top and I think the rf 7's can fit. Oh well its only money, I will earn more I guess

Craig ---------------- I am sure the Rf7's would have been great. However, my space limitations on the wall was the key. The RF35's are alot smaller and that was the only option I had. It would have been nice to have the Rf7's. I just hope these RF35's sound good. I am use to hearing my Paradigm Studio 100's upstairs. Space for the center and surrounds were not a problem so I went with the better speakers for those areas.
  4. I got the RF35's, RC7, and RS7's and decided on the SVS PB12plus/2 Sub. I was looking at the RW12 but went with the dual 12inch plus/2 instead.
  5. I got a philips 642 dvd player from walmart. Cost $68 and plays damn near every format there is. It even plays MP3's burned to DVD media. You really cant beat it for the price. If you want to check out dvd players to see what they play and dont play check out http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
  6. How does the Rotel 1068 remote stack up to the Universal of the B&K? I hear the B&K remote is a great remote. Yes I plan on staying 5.1 because I dont have the space to do anything larger. I was considering that rotel too but it dropped off the list because I never had much info on it.
  7. I'm not sure putting a speaker into a wall that was not made for that use is smart. Maybe look at some inwall type speakers. I know triadspeakers.com has some good ones that can be used both in wall and out of wall.
  8. My installer said he installed some of those buttkickers and they are great. He said they were very expensive though. I guess they use amps and stuff to vibrate your seat.
  9. Ok so far my basement system contains the following. Samsung 5663w DLP Marantz mm9000 Amp SVS PB12plus/2 Klipsch RF35 Left Right Klipsch RC7 Center Klipsch RS7 surrounds I cant decide on what to do for the processor. I am leaning to the B&K Reference 50 right now. Here are my 3 choices I am considering. The B&K, Marantz SR8500, & Onkyo 901. Whatever I get will be used in a 5.1 setup with my mm9000 amp as the power supply. If anyone has advice I would appreciate it. Thanks
  10. Well I just figured I screwed myself on the setup of my HT. I am very limited on space and ordered a Samsung 5663 DLP. If anyone knows the tv you cannot place a speaker on top of it. I was planning on putting my amp, receiver, dvd, and cable box under the set on the stand. Then I would have just enough room to place two speakers and a sub on the sides of it. I could mount it on the wall if the speaker has mounts. Or maybe have a special stand made to include the speaker under the set. If any of you have some suggestions I would appreciate it. I cannot recall if that speaker has mounts or not. Thanks!
  11. When I originally inquired about the RSW12 at ultimate electronics they informed me the RSW12 was not being carried anymore. It could be just ultimate is not getting it. So I had to chose between a RW12 and RSW15. The sales manager told me the RW12 sounded better than the 15. The 15 cost twice as much as the RW12 so I took his word for it. Why would he cut himself out of double the money? Well after all my research and such I purchased a SVS PB12plus/2. It has two 12 inch woofers. I listened to the RW12 and the RSW15 but not at high levels. I was not very impressed. Granted I didnt have a heavy base sample cranked up when I listened. I have a paradigm servo 15 in my living room and the SVS is going in my basement with my klipsch. Once its all setup I will post how it sounds. I anticipate it will sound better than my servo 15. We will see.
  12. here is a link I found for the 5500. Its for the UK but it says what features it has. http://www.hifi4less.com/MARANTZ_SR_5500___7_1_ch_Receiver.htm
  13. I guess you didnt see my post about marantz new receivers that are out. SR5500 SR7500 SR8500. Im not sure how much they upgraded the SR5300 to the SR5500. Its worth a check. Try a search on google or something to see whats different.
  14. How much is the C1 or the C2 by themselves? I already have an amp and was wondering how much those processors cost.
  15. I was in the same boat as you. I could have purchased the RSW 15 at around the same price I paid for the SVS PB12plus/2. After reading several reviews and such I decided on the SVS. When I purchased my klipsch speakers at ultimate electronics, the manager was telling me how he thought the RW12 sounded better than the RSW15. Not really demoing them side by side I would have to believe him. Why would he tell me that when the RSW15 sells for twice the RW12? Who knows. I have a paradigm servo 15 in my living room so I am use to hearing nice bass. I chose the SVS because it contains two 12inch woofers and all the reviews were very good. I am sure the RSW 15 is pretty good too but from what the manager was saying I chose the SVS. Once I get it setup I will see how good it sounds. The guys at SVS said the one I chose is much better than my servo 15. One downside to the SVS is the 140lbs weight of it. But if the RSW had two woofers it would prob weigh the same as the SVS.
  16. Browsing the site and I just saw that the rating for the RF35 was 125watts maximum continuous power. The amp I am planning on using is 150x5 maximum continuous power. Will I be putting these speakers at risk if I crank it up too loud? The amp is the Marantz mm9000. I sure hope I didnt make a mistake getting the RF35's.
  17. I have the original Paradigm studio 100's in my living room. Those things sound fantastic. I dont know how good the RF7's sound but my paradigms sound very good. They may or may not match up but if you do get the 100's you should try them out as front left and right to see if you like them better than the RF7's.
  18. Thanks! I went with the RF35's for the Left and Right. RC7 for center channel, and RS7's as surrounds. From what I have read if you match all the reference series they should all sound pretty good together. I didnt have room for RF7's so the next step in what I could find local was the RF35's. Seems like everythings going to fit in ok. I didnt get the Klipsch sub. Instead, I got the SVS PB12plus/2. Cant wait to hear this baby together. Now I have to figure which I want as the pre/proc, B&K Ref 50, Rotel 1068, or Marantz 8500. Sigh...
  19. Adding RF7's as speakers in a 7.1 setup is a waste of money. Two of the rear channels in 7.1 are a shared MONO channel. Why would you waste the money to have 2 RF7 playing a Shared Mono channel? Save your money and get something less expensive for the shared mono channel in 7.1. Another suggestion. Check out svsubwoofer.com for the sub. They match well with the the Klipsch speakers and offer performance above the RSW 15.
  20. I just purchased a set of RF35's at ultimate electronics. They said they were the replacements for the RF5's. Can anyone confirm this?
  21. Before you purchase!!! Marantz America is introducing four 7.1-channel models at CEDIA 2004 including the SR8500 (SRP $1,599), SR7500 (SRP $1,099), SR5500 (SRP $649.99) and the high-value SR4500 (SRP $449.99). Seriously check those new receivers out. They have new stuff and you will kick yourself if you purchase an older marantz when the new one is on its way to dealers as I type this.
