  1. At thy feet do I humbly beg thee for forgiveness for so misreading thy post. []
  2. I was hoping that my smiley face would betray the joviality of that post. Even the best drivers can't, with a manual, shift as fast as an automatic can. It's a personal preference. Just like audio and SS/tubes. Hence the humor. (Or so I thought...)
  3. Those two debates are not at all alike; the manual is much better than the automatic!!!! []
  4. Monetarily speaking, I'd say I paid much more for my system. About $1300 in my system, and then about 80 CDs. No idea what my CDs are worth. Which would I rather part with? Hmm. I'd rather 'lose my system' than 'lose my music.' However, they're both replaceable. That would be my speakers, I believe: bought sometime last year (I'm bad with time). Sunday!! Hmm. My receiver. By a year. Mostly equipment reviews, and then only when I'm considering my next step. I usually don't read much audio related. I *think* I've been to one concert. However, what's an audio show? Whichever I can get them to talk about! lol
  5. Yes, it sure is coloration. And NO, it is NOT the case that everyone who's heard the Rega thinks it sounds good. As for your newly edited signature/footer: ask Parrot - the self-proclaimed encyclopedia of audio knowledge -- this is a LIE and makes me think you have an inferiority complex. Get a life, dude. Not everybody is going to agree with all of your opinions in life, and surely not on an audio discussion board, the purpose of which is to offer varying opinions and experiences with audio equipment. It would be much appreciated if you would leave these kinds of comments for either a private message or for a dedicated thread.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion about the Sony S9000ES. I looked it up and read about it a bit. However, I'm looking for just audio only, and I wouldn't mind redbook only, either. Also, I'm against Sony in general. I'm not saying all their stuff is junk, as I know that quite a bit from the ES line is very good stuff. I just don't care for Sony. Yeah, I guess it's shopping by brand/specs instead of by sound, but - oh well.
  7. [] So you're a moderator! So that's how you get that little Klipsch logo in your posts. []
  8. That's disappointing to hear that the remote didin't want to work. I had gained a certain amount of respect for Cambridge Audio. You think maybe you just had a dud in that respect? Though...my room's so small, I can't get but 6 feet away from it! lol
  9. Ha; that's interesting. 64 times the rate of a regular CD is pretty good; but a 1-bit signal? Fill me in here, does the extra rate sorta cancel out the missing 15-bits?
  10. Well, I came up with a nice lengthy response to the CD player thread in my head, only to see that the thread has been locked. Oh well. I read there that the Cambridge Audio 540C is a 'bright' CDP. I had never heard that before. Since I'm pushing Klipsch with a Yammy, I'm pretty sure I don't want to throw something else 'bright' into the mix. Does anyone else have comments to make about the 540C? I'm currently using a Panasonic portable CD player as my source, so I think that will be the next thing I upgrade. (Hopefully tubes are down the road somewhere.) What other CD players would you recommend? I would be buying new and in the $300 - $400 range. Any comments much appreciated!! (Oh, and I'd also appreciate it if we not get into some dispute about the Planet or some such and start acting like kids. I bet the average age for members would have one believe we're too mature for such arguments and attacks as were being tossed around in the previous thread.)
  11. What is 'DSD'? I've never heard of that format. I assume it's similar to SACD?
  12. Really awesome amp. Just too expensive. Good luck!
  13. Hmm, very interesting. I honestly would have thought it'd have a more powerful CPU. And a larger HDD. The graphics card actually looks pretty nice, though.
  14. Congrats on the purchase! Glad you like them. That Dodd ELP is one nice pre!
  15. Depends on if you want to eat or not! [] Congrats on acheiving the post count! I know how it feels, as I just passed 2500 on another audio forum.
  16. Well, the issua has been resolved. To clarify, all the money would be mine; money from gift cards (i.e. give $100 gift card and get $100), job that'll pay $200, plus I already have $131. Then, I could sell the RX-V1400 that was a present for Christmas in 2002. Dad and I had a talk about it tonight. He had already said no and was obviously against it, but I wanted to talk about why; I failed to see his reasoning. We argued (not yelling argued; presented different sides argued) about the whole idea: why to, why not, what condition, what price, how come, why you need it, you'll sell a gift....etc, etc. Neither of us were convincing the other, so eventually Dad just said ok. He said I could do it. He said he didn't understand it and that he didn't like it, but that I could do it. I sat there a moment and thought about the whole deal, and how he just said I could do it, though he didn't like the idea. Then I though about Jesus Christ when he was 10 years old (I believe ...might be wrong), and how when they went to Jerusalem he went to the temple and was about His Father's business. His family unknowingly left Him there, soon realized it, and came back for Him. When they found Him, His mom was mad (duh) and of course told Him to come home. In this instance, the Child was right; He knew what He was supposed to be doing and that He was doing it. His parents did not yet understand, and so He was right while they were wrong. However, Jesus submitted to His parents' wishes and went home with them, as it is written 'honor thy father and thy mother'. And so, I've conlcuded that I still want the equipment; I still think it's a good deal; I still think the equipment is in good shape; I think it makes sense. However, out of respect for my dad's opinion, I no longer want it. I'm happy with what I've got, and so I'll keep it for a few more years. Thanks to everyone who contributed and everyone who has posted on my threads before!
  17. Yeah......I agree with everybody....I think they'd sounds awesome...and I think it's a great deal....however, Dad won't let me do it. He doesn't really want to spend any more money on this (though, I figure after I sell my RX-V1400 I'd only be spendin' about $200), and he DOES NOT like the idea of sellin' something new to get used equipment.....even though it's only 6 months old...... man...this stinks....
  18. Thanks. I'm new to the selling and buying used gear, and my parents are kinda against it right now, but the seller is local, so I might be able to talk myself into this one. We'll see.....
  19. I have the chance to buy a B&K PT5 and ST 125.2 for $600. I'm currently using a Yamaha RX-V1400 to push my Klipsch RF-35. Do y'all think the B&K gear would go well with my speakers....and do you think it would be a big enough upgrade to warrant the cost? Also, if I should look into this, I'd hafta sell my receiver; what do you think I could get for it? Thanks!
  20. Thanks for the replies, guys; I'm trying to read those links between studying for tests.....
  21. Thank-you. What do you think about Dared tube amps? I had never heard about them until I found some online today. Do they have website? I can't find it.
  22. Thank-you; I'll definitely check out that site.
  23. Just trying to learn the why's.....What makes you think that? What lead you to that conclusion? Thanks!
  24. Do you know if there is anything special about the matching pre-amp that makes it work better with the AV-25s? Congratulations on the AQ1003DT!! I've looked at it a little bit. How do you like only having three inputs? I thought that I really wouldn't like that, and might even buy a pre to use with it just so I could have more sources. What do you think about running a pre with an integrated? Why would you recommend the matching pre? Thanks!
  25. I apologize if it sounded like I was throwing out what you said. I was *trying* to explain what I thought and then ask for why that's wrong. I'm assuming you're right, as I've gotten that answer several times. I'm just searching for the why's.
