  4. i'm looking at the hk avr 235. my question is can i use 2 of the 7 channels to add to the fronts? either by bi-amping or better yet mono 2 ch per side. i have a seperate amp i could use for the bass. this would give me a tremoundus amount of power out of a budget reciever. or fry it one of the two. anybody try this? would the fronts be overpowering durring 5.1 or would the set up mic fix this? my fronts are nht2.5i and they take loads of power. any reciever recomandations would be appreicated. thanks in advance.
  5. thats what i was thinking, thanks
  6. lost the link between sp termanels,(for using one amp). can i make one?
  7. sub-outs designated l and r so i think i will split them both to keep things balanced between the subs in the two main speakers, then combine l and r to the ksw12. all this is out the window if i go with the newer avr230. im not shure if i like the idea of a mono sub-out.
  8. Kurt Bushes car comes down pit road as his passenger side wheel dives back on to the track!!go Dale jr.
  9. hk avr20ii has two sub outputs, the one im looking to upgrade to (hk avr230) has only one. they both have pre-amp outputs and the avr230 seems to be at a reasonable price. around $350. first of all how should connect 3 sub-woofer amps to the two sub-outs? second can i connect 3 subs to one output? hk avr20ii, carver-tfm15, ksw-12, nht2.5i, polk rti38 center, cerwin-vega re-30 rear, yamaha cdc-635, $40 mintek dvd1600, esotric auido 12 ga speaker wire, monster cable interconnects,
  10. yes i should have been more specific, when i think of horns anything smaller than the khorns is medium. thanks for your insite.
  11. thanks! i'm always wondering if the cleark at the store is just thinking about the sale.
  12. which one is better? new gold one is fowerd fireing.
  13. 104 db at 1 watt is going to put your system to the test. i have a $39 dvd player that will put a hum throughout the entire system untill i pull the patch cords on it.
  14. can someone recomend a medium size horn that can go to 99 db at 1 watt or better i get 97 out of cerwin vegas. i have always been a fan of big sound with small watts. i feel this is the only way to set up home theater. i dont have room for 5 khorns but med-big is ok.
  15. i have a carver tfm-15 at 100+wpc in parellel with harmon kardon avr20ii at 65wpc. i am powering nht 2.5i with an 8 in sub. should the sub or the mid-high section get the good 100wpc? looking forward to feedback!
  16. I have an h/k avr20ii reciever and i am wondering if the sub-out is filtered. it is an older model (pro logic not 5.1). when i hook up my carver tfm15 to the sub-out the power meters jump when a high frq signal is played. i want to amplify only low frq. should i connect the carver to the highs or lows on my nht2.5i my other amp is in the avr20ii(only 65 wpc). do i need a low pass filter between my amp and pre-amp if i do use the carver for the subs. i just dont want to waste any of that power i paid for.
  17. im new to this so bear with me and see below
  18. On a side note, should i be running the power from my carver (100+watts per channel) to the subs or mid/highs in my nht 2.5i the other amp im using is in the avr20ii only 65 watts per channel?
  19. my reciever is an older model h/k avr20ii that im running in parellel with a carver tfm 15 and when hooked to sud-out you can see the vu meeters jump with only high feq playing.do i need a low pass filter? also i can hear high feq through the subs in my nht 2.5i and in my klipsch ksw12.
  20. does the sub-out on an a/v reciever filter out the highs? if so can i split the sigal between powered sub and a power amp to run the lows on my main speakers. there are two sub-out (l and r). or should i try to find some kind of low pass filter to install between pre-amp out and power amp. i dont want to amplify a full range just to have it filtered in the x-over.
