  1. Sounds like I'm gonna have to give this a try... On a side note... I'm planning on powering my "outside" speakers with the Mulit Zone Amp in my Harman Kardon AVR-7300 and then maybe later use an A-BUS ... Do you think there is any way lightening could hit one of these "outside" speakers and damage my AVR-7300 ??? OR... Do you think if water got into the speakers, the water could somehow short or damage the AVR-7300 ??? I doubt it but was curious...
  2. I currently have a set of KSB 1.1's and love 'em for the size and sound they give... Actually, I think the HS-2's are more of same construction as the KSB 1.1's ... I thought that the "outdoor" speakers could handle water better ... Maybe the speakers and connections were coated in some sort of water repelling substance, etc... If the only thing that's different is the Speaker Box/Casing and the closable port... I can easily come up with some silicon and other materials to make it more waterproof... Let me know guys, I'd love to get another set of KSB 1.1's for outside duty...
  3. Thanks Hunt, So far I've narrowed it down to the SA-1's, the KHO-7's, or the HS-2's ... Even tho the SA's are probably the best out of the bunch... It will probably come down to what type of deal I can get on a good used set... If this is even possible...
  4. I'd like to buy some... Let me know what you have, the condition, and price shipped to Raleigh, NC 27603 ... My e-mail is classic_time@hotmail.com Thanks, TIM
  5. Those would look sweet hanging from my deck... The nieghbors might not approve... but hey... I wouldn't mind! []
  6. Hey Guys, I'm looking to begin taking advantage of either the Multi Room/Zone or the A-Bus features that my H/K AVR-7300 offers and have decided to look for some Klipsch Outdoor Speakers... What's everyone's choice? Best bang for the buck? Also, any of you guys have experience with the H/K AB 1 (A-Bus controller) ... Can it get loud? Does it offer plenty of sound for outside entertainment? thanks, TIM
  7. I own 2 Yamaha Receivers and love 'em both... A buddy of mine has the HTR5890 and it's been great... I say go for it... -TIM
  8. Sub was on... I'm mainly looking to determine if it would make sense to swap out the RP-5's for RF-5's and an RSW-15 ... I'm not sure if this swap would justify the time and money... For near future plans... Could I use an RC-7 Center, RF-7 Mains...then use the RP-5's as rears, and the RF-3's as the remaining 2 channels of a 7.1 system... This, all with the RSW-15 as the Sub???
  9. I have tried the RF-3 / RP-5 swap but it didn't sound as good to me ... Could be room layout or my ears... but the high and mid of the RP-5 just sound much better to me as my Mains that did the RF-3... Thanks, TIM
  10. Bill, Thanks for the reply... It sounds as if I should hold on to the RP-5's ... I could, as you mentioned, upgrade the RC-3 for the 7 ... If I did purchase a RSW-15, would this sub be overkill along with the subs in the RP-5's ??? I was thinking that I could have the LFE bass only going to the RSW-15 and then the RP-5 subs would only reproduce "normal" bass ... Thanks again, TIM
  11. I just picked up Eric Clapton: Sessions for Robert J... THIS DVD ROCKS... I've never heard a DVD in DTS that sounded this Great!!! It's Just Like being there... Thanks again for the recommendations!!! -TIM
  12. Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide if I should Replace my RP-5 Mains (these come with Horn, Mid, & Built in Sub) with a set of RF-5s and add a RSW-15 sub... Would this be worth the swap? OR, should I just keep the RP-5's and use as I currently am ... I'm curious if I would see any noticed improvement of overall sound quality with the added Mid in the RF Tower and the seperation of Sub & Horn/Mid from not being located within the same enclosure... Please see below for my Complete setup... Thanks all, TIM
  13. Since the start of this thread, I've been able to explore some artist that are new to me and to relive some great sounds from Artists of my past... And to beat it all, from this thread, I've fallen in Love with Blue Man Group ... Anything out there similar to the Blue Man Group in Sound, not appearance []? Thanks Guys... Great Stuff...
  14. Michael, Thanks for the reply... I should have posted a follow up to this issue... After working with HK reps for a while troubleshooting ideas... It was determined that my DSP Chip was not performing correctly (faulty) ... So, I was sent a new, replacement 7300 and my issues went away... I'm very happy and no longer hear what I once did... The only imperfections that are ever heard now, are completely source related... Thankfully all is well, if I had to replace these often...I'm sure my back would not be my friend any longer (This receiver weighs a ton!)... Thanks again, TIM
  15. I swapped out the sat. Receiver and still had the same sounds ... I reset the HK 7300 per the manual and still had the same sounds... This weekend I'll hook the Yamaha back up and see if the sounds I'm hearing go away or not... Also, In another post I learned that someone else ran into a similar issue and eventually returned the HK for a replacement and this noise I'm referring to went away with the replacement unit... -TIM
  16. Hi Guys... I'm looking for feedback from owners of similar setups... Hopefully other HK receiver owners will chime in and let me know if I'm all alone here or not... A while back, after adding an Harman Kardon AVR-7300 and a Klipsch RC-3II Center Channel to my theater setup, I've been noticing an issue with Television shows via my digital sat. service ... While watching a show, I sometimes notice some form of rasp/crackling of a person's voice during dialog of a sceen coming from my Center Channel's (RC-3II) horn tweeter. Everything appears to be set correctly, It's just that the Horn of the RC-3II seems to give an occassional slight crackle or pop with voice from Sat. TV shows... I was using the Yamaha RX-V793 & RX-V1300 with an older KV-1 Klipsch Center Channel (NON Horn Center) for many years... I just don't recall ever noticing such rasp or crackle from television shows before... After changing to the RC-3II and the HK 7300 ... I now notice this rasp or crackle that I'm mentioning... This is my first time using a center with a Horn...so maybe this is normal but I've yet to adapt to the new sounds that I'm hearing during TV viewing... I don't seem to notice this same effect while watching DVD's or listening to CD's...so I don't think the center is defective b/c she ROCKS OUT with all the Jazz, Rock, etc... that I can throw at her... I've been playing with the Center Channel Crossover setting of the HK7300: I've tried 150 Mhz, 200 Mhz, and have now gone to 80 Mhz... I currently have the Center X-over setting at 80 Mhz, and treble set to +2 and bass set to +2 ... Oh yes, the center is set to SMALL...All of my other Klipsch speakers (RP-5's & RF-3's) are set to LARGE... I've also tried connecting the older (NON HORN) KV-1 center to the HK-7300 and this rasp/crackle that I sometimes notice isn't there. So, I think it all has to do with the Horn of the RC-3II ... Maybe I'm just not use to such a powerful, large sound coming from the center speaker ... and it appears that the imperfections from some sat. TV shows (especially some poor quality commercials) are just amplified by the imcrease in power, presence, and the fact that I have a large horn tweeter on my center. I'm going to try a different sat. receiver as well as the Yamaha amp one more time to attempt to narrow down my issue...but first, I'm also going to perform the reset procedure on the AVR-7300 ... I really would like to hear from others with similar setups that could let me know if they too notice this effect and if they did anything that helped... Thanks, TIM
  17. Thanks Gil, Everything appears to be set correctly, It's just that the Horn of the RC-3II seems to give an occassional slight crackle or pop with voice from Sat. I don't seem to notice this same effect while watching DVD's or listening to CD's...On very rare DVD/CD audio playback, I may hear this effect but not to the same magnitude of the Sat. TV shows... I've been playing with the Center Channel Crossover setting of the HK7300: I've tried 150 Mhz, 200 Mhz, and have now gone to 80 Mhz... I also noticed last night that my treble setting was -4 and bass was +2 ... I then, after changing the center X-over to 80 Mhz, adjusted the treble setting +2 and left the bass at +2 ... This did seem to show some improvement... Oh yes, the center was set to Small and I left it there...All of my other Klipsch speakers (RP-5's & RF-3's) are set to LARGE... What am I running into hear??? Is it just that I'm a newbie to the center horn arena and that coupled with a new, more powerful receiver...I'm just not use to the sounds and the imperfections of TV shows... OR... do I have my settings incorrect??? I would feel better if others experience this same effect during the watching of Digital Sat. TV... Let me know if I'm all alone here or not... Thanks, TIM
  18. Hi Guys... I'm starting to go nuts... A while back, after adding an RC-3II to my theater setup, I've been noticing an issue with Television shows via my digital sat. service ... While watching a show, I sometimes notice some form of crackling or high pitched distortion while someone is speaking or during a scene of sudden intensity, etc... coming from my horns... Primarily the RC-3II horn... Has anyone else ever noticed this??? I was wondering if changing out the Optical Audio Cable to a normal RCA Audio Connection Cable might help to relieve these sounds that are seeming to drive me nuts when I hear them... Any feedback would be appreciated... -TIM
  19. I'm going to be out of town for about a week... Drop me an Private Message and I'll get back ASAP... -TIM
