  1. thanks too all, i will be thinking hard about re veneering the scalas as they have 2 places where they were sanded thru where do you get all those differant types of veneer, of course that task will be after a period of just listening, i really dont want to sell my cornwalls and i may not, after all it has taken me 40 years to get this set-up, and its really hard to think about letting something like that go, my problem is limited space, AND I STILL WANT K-HORNS, seems a little crazy to move though to accomidate speakers. 10.gif Joe

  7. OOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKK 3d i will be right over, you know of course i will require food and music????, how many albums you have there. i will have mine counted up within the next few days, looks like i will be selling close to 300 albums maybe a little less or more not sure going thru pulling out all the doubles (except for promos) trying to grade them as i go toss the crap, so far though majority of doubles are in very good shape some of the covers are worn but overall not too bad. do you think i should post a thread on here before i list them for auction, not sure how many guys or gals on here are vinyl freaks, one cool thing about going thru all the albums is you see alot of stuff forgot about and get to listen to it again10.gif Joe

Tom's blackjack analogy is quite funny. As a former casino dealer, if I had a dollar for every time I heard a player bitc# about the other player's strategies, I would be retired.

I typically am a "last minute" bidder as well, except in one circumstance: An item with no bids that I wish to remain posted until the end of the auction. If an item sits on ebay with no reserve and no bids, I like to place a minimum bid, so that the seller (hopefully) won't pull the auction.

Bidding early and high generally serves no one (except the seller) well, IMO. To my way of thinking, having a $200 bid on a set of rare tubes 5 hours before the auction ends says "I dare you to outbid me". If you give someone enough time, someone just might do that, because you gave them time to talk themselves into it. If I wait until last minute, no one has the opportunity to ponder.

I do, at times, wonder about unnecessary early bidding too - but that's the nature of ebay. Don't like blackjack players splitting tens? Find another table. Don't like bidding wars on ebay? Well, that's the nature of the game, so you might try audiogon or other sources for your goods.

NOT COMPLAINING, AND NEVER SAID I DONT LIKE IT SAID I DONT UNDERSTAND IT, WHY WOULD ANY NORMAL HUMAN DRIVE THE PRICE OF WHAT THEY WANT TO BUY HIGHER COMMON SENSE, TO ME BUT WHATEVER I JUST BIDE MY TIME AND LOOK AT THE NEXT ITEM FOR SALE, 10.gif10.gif JOE

Joe---You sound like a guy at a Blackjack table who doesn't like the way I play because it effects his play. I'll play my game, you play yours. If you don't like it find another game.

I bid what I'm willing to pay early. I don't care if it pushes the bidding up, I'm out to suit myself, not you.

you souund like a guy that knows what you are doing is a stupid way to bid on an auction so now to justify your ignorance you want to get on here and try to flame on me, enjoy bidding whatever you want to astronomical prices its your money, nobody cares least of all me. i get what i want in the end with or without you. i didnt start this thread to banter wit with anyone i simply made an observation and it has been my experience the people that take the most offense are the practicing whatever the observation was about, 10.gif10.gif JOE

  13. my kinda people, i already started watching some lascalas let the monkeys beat themselves to death, i wont let 0 feedbacks bid my items up like that i try to follow my oun thoughts IE... i wont bid against a 0 feedback person if they look to be getting high as they have nothing to lose if they dont pay, cant go far down from zero, therefore i will cancel bids or email the bidder and ask for info. just my oun policy , 10.gif Joe

if you buy alot of stuff from ebay....... i would consider using biddnapper.com .... heres how it works.

place a bid that you are willing to pay. biddnapper will place your bid at the very last second before the auction ends that would make it impossible for someone to outbid you. i think its well worth the fee if you shop alot on ebay. take care.

hello and thanks i already have a sniper service i use though, called powersnipe, works great, i only get beat when i am to low or if someone else has a higher sniper bid than mine, i also realize what you are saying about being there to make bids at the last minute and all and i understand putting in your max and leaving things at that but these 2 guys are not doing that they are back and forth with each other, and drove the price up over 800.00 today with 6 days left, thats just plain senseless to be polite, i didnt count but they had at least 5 or 6 bids each today, the corker is normally those are the guys that dont win the sale, just kinda urks me when it is something i waws interested in and wanted to vent somewhere thanks 10.gif10.gif Joe

  15. i dont get it, why would a buyer of an item up for sale by auction bid early, and then get into a bidding war with someone else this only drives the price higher, some people need to think & bid with there brain and leave the hearts wants out of it, what purpose does it serve to try to outbid the next guy with 6 days left, perfect example is a set of khorns listed yesterday on a 7 day sale opening bid 400.00 no reserve, where are they now over 1200, with over 6 days, why 2 guys trying to outbid each other, personally i will wait till the last few seconds, always seems to save me money. GO FIGURE10.gif JOE

  16. hello and welcome, i would like to suggest looking at quality vintage power amp and pre-amps, i am currently running a configuration close to what you are discribeing i have a pair of cornwalls, with a pair of heresys setting atop them, i run 2 vintage amps, with a mid 90,s model tube pre amp and the sound is incrediable, my amps get bashed abit here and there but the sound speaks for itself IMO, i have a pair of phase linear model 400 amps, and my pre amp is a vtp100i, can get as loud as you would ever want but puts out nice sound at low levels also, this also offers the best of both worlds i get solid state reliability and maintenance free power from the amps with plenty of punch, and i get the harshness cut out with the tube preamp that also enhances the sound enormousely, with your budget you could actually score a couple macintosh(one of the best amps produced and ouners are maticulas about the care of these overall)the mc 2505 or 2100 are both supposed to be great amps and put out around 100 WPC, then find a nice tube pre-amp, i actually wish i had the dough to get a couple mac. ampsanyway welcome and good luck 10.gif Joe
