  1. I have to agree with Corey, Bryston products are the best built I have come across and they will get the most out of your Klipsch speakers. I upgraded from the Acurus A250 & 200x3 to Bryston 3B SST & 9B SST and I could not believe the difference in sound quality in every aspect. The Bryston's produced better bass, more air and detail to the highs and made my RF-7's discover their mid-range.

My advice is run don't walk and get some Bryston amps and the SP2 pre-amp. I know that Bryston stuff is expensive but any other manufacture in this category is also very expensive.

  2. Wuzzzer, just curious, why would you buy a pair of $2200 speakers and then connect them to a receiver for $350? You are not going to get your money's worth from the RF-7's. My advice to you, save your money until you can afford to purchase a nice preamp / amp combo. You'll be amazed at the sound quality of the RF-7's when they are connected to high-end components. Just my 2 cent.

  3. I own the Bryston SP1.7 preamp / processor and will shortly own the 3B SST and 9B SST to complete the 7.1 system. I have never had any problems with my SP1.7 and the Bryston 20 year warranty and customer service are large pluses. Bryston equipment have a very neutral sound and strong in the bass region. You can't go wrong with Bryston stuff.

  4. Now that you have had then in your home a few days, what do you think of them now ?

I heard then in the store and they didnt sound that good, but the store is a bad place to demo, they were not in a room either.

They sound almost as good as my RF-7's in A/B comparisons. I have listened to them for about 25 - 30 hours so far and after about 4 hours of break-in they started to sound really nice. The RF-82's don't quite have the slam in the bass region or the clarity in the high freq. as the RF-7's but the mid-range is better.

  5. Well I finally got the chance to listen to the RF-82's and I purchased them. The RF-82's sound much nicer then the RF-35's they replaced. Overall, the bass is better and the midrange is definitely clearer. When I broken in the speakers (which only took about 3 to 4 hours) I did an A/B comparison with my RF-7's and the difference was small. The RF-7's had a bit more punch in the bass region and the highs were better. But, the midrange on the RF-82 was more noticeable and definitely better then the RF-7's. I think Klipsch did a wonderful job in designing the RF-82's, a definite steal in this price range.

  6. Jeremy,

Thanks for the reply. I can still buy a pair of RF-5's, so I was very interested in your opinion. Were the RF-82's and RF-5's connected to the same equipment and in the same room?

  7. I'll begin by stating that I was a non-believer that a power conditioner could improved sound quality. However, not anymore. The Elite 15 did just that. I noticed a cleaner and more musical sound. There was more clarity and the sound stage was more enveloping. Also, the bass was more noticeable and there was better separation between the different instruments.

I am very pleased with the improvements to the sound and the Elite 15 was worth the cost.

  8. raptorman, thanks for that. Do you know if they have any on their floor for demo? Its a long transit for me since I have to use GO and TTC, but if I get the chance I'll drop by there.

    Ranjith,

I dropped by to see Harley this week. He told me it would be another month until he gets the new Reference Line. However, he has good deals on the old Reference Line if your interested.

  9. I have had my RSW-15 for a year with no problems. It is located

in a corner 4 inches from the side wall and 8 inches from the back

wall. The sub provides me with all the base that I want.

Plus it's without question the nicest looking sub, important point for the

    wife.

  10. Thank you everyone for your input. I am driving the RF-7's with a

Pioneer SX-1980. What do you mean by "properly set up" ?Do

you just move them till it sounds good ? Is there a starting point ?

    Thanks Again

I would follow the Klipsch manual as a starting point. Position

the speakers about 2 feet from the rear and side walls. Start

playing music and move the speakers around until you find the spot they

    sound best.

  11. Personally I love the sound from the RF-7's. Once the RF-7's are

positioned correctly and driven by a quality pre-amp and amp the sound

is just amazing. I do not find any weaknesses in the

mid-range. Granted the type of music listened to and the quality

of the recording are key factors as well.

  12. My speakers sounded very good right from the beginning. However, I did notice a slight improvement during the first 10 to 20 hours of playing. The key in getting the best sound from the RF-7 is your components. A high quality amp (either SS or Tube) is a must and a very good pre-amp is equally important. I have not heard a receiver that is able to play the 7's to their full potential.
