  1. Yeah iAM, you feel my pain, my wife is indeed the reason for the placement of the speaker....and colt i do have 3 little ones so maybe she's smarter than i am(altho personally a little knock on the noggin is a worthy sacrifice to perfect my my speaker settings imo!.....j/k ) Problem is the cubby hole im fitting it into is a tight fit, not sure i can do the angle but its a sound idea i never thought of so ill work on it....thx for the input
  2. Ok so im finally putting together my first "real" HT setup, ive got everything set up where its supposed to be (according to all the information ive gleaned off places like this on the web). The last peice to aquire and set up is the center speaker, from what i understand its optimal to set it up at tweeter level of your mains, my question is if that cant be done and your forced to set it underneath the television how much performance am i losing if any? Thanks for any info
  3. I should also say i only listen to the yamaha for HT, it is truly awful for 2 channel listening with the KLF-30,s.
  4. I also run the HTR-5790, it sounds great to me (altho im runnin bose *flinch* surround) with KLF-30's and an SVS sub.
  5. Thanks for the advice all, using the optimizer seemed to easy to me heh, i think ill follow your suggestions
  6. Getting ready to buy my first sub, have a Yamaha HT receiver with the microphone optimizer, anyone know how accurate its calibration is or should i spring for the spl meter and do it myself?
  7. Plz describe "properly done" pertaining to the sub, ive never owned one before so looking for all the detail i can get.
  8. Thanks for the post md, 2 grand is a bit much for me just for a preamp unfortunatly, i just want something with a few input jacks a volume knob and comparable input sensitivity to the amp i bought...im sure your right and their out there, just having a tough time finding one.
  9. Yep that is correct, rock n roll....so what you sayin, KLF 30's cant handle rock?? As long as its distortion free rock im playin i should be ok dont you think?
  10. I was gonna run a Behringer 2500 amp and use my yamaha home theater receiver as a preamp, i was told on another section of the forum (i figured this was a more appropiate room) that the yamaha output is 1 volt and the Behringer input is 1.23V so i wont be able to get max power from the Behringer. This was distressing to me so ive spent alot of the day looking for a different preamp...im finding out that home basic preamps are rather rare, most i see are for bands, DJ's and such, i just dont need all those bells and whistles. My question is do i need a preamp that matches the amp exactly and does anyone know where such a thing exists? Btw im running KLF 30's. Thanks for any info on the matter.
  11. So Mike your pretty much saying if i want max power ill have to buy another preamp that matches exactly the 1.23 input of the Behringer?
  12. Michael, youll never know what your reply means to me heh, in one fell swoop you managed to bum me out and enlighten me at the same time which im greatful for. I guess this is why guys like me who like the sound but arent savvy in the technical side of it should ask before i buy. But seriously im glad you informed me of this, hopefully i can find a reasonable solution
  13. Well i gave my father the 5.5 and he said the dustcover doesnt really have anything to do with the sound so he carefully removed it, looks ugly when grill isnt on but it does seem to sound good, i just hate the thought of messing with my 30's in any way.....if i was to try an order a replacement woofer does Klipsch sell them anyone know?
  14. Years back i bought Klipsch KG 5.5, after about 2 years of use the dustcap cover started coming lose from one of the woofers and made unpleasant sounds...now i have KLF 30's and sure enuff after bout 3 years use the exact same thing is happening....just wonderin if comman problem with Klipsch, i love the sound but that kinda bugs me.
  15. Hey all, need experianced advice im pretty green...my setup is Yamaha HTR-5790 for home theater, have a Behringer 2500 on order now, and running the KLF 30's. I like home theater but im mainly after loud, distortion free music (which is why i ordered the Behringer). My question is i know subwoofers greatly improve the home theater experiance but how are they for pure music experiance? From what im gathering it looks like mostly DJ's and small bands use them for big performances which i do neither, are they meant for home listening? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!
