All of his cables have what I would call less is better as one of the concepts. Especially the IC's. Interestingly they therefore have little or no break in time. The first hour and the 50th hour sounded the same to me.

The posters on this forum have been so helpful to me in my recent return to music. I want to offer my recent experience as a partial payback. Paul Speltz's anti-cables brought my ARC components, Rotel amp, and RF 7's to life. I love great stuff at truely bargain prices and his latest entry into IC's gave me fantastic sound improvement over the 18 year old MIT shotgun interconnects I was using. My MIT's still sounded good but his IC's blew them away. My MIT's cost me $550 and $350. The anti-IC's at the introductory price of $50, are in very limited supply and not on his web site yet. As George Foreman says, "you don't pay a lot but you get a lot". I have no connection to Paul. BTW the speaker cables are $10/foot for the pair. I did a DIY 7' biwire in 3 hours at a cost of $70. S&H was free. Got the cables in 2 days. Now I can just listen, listen with a BIG SMILE on my face. My pure guess is those IC's will not be at $50 long. If you snooze you may have to pay more. Finally, thanks again for all the help in getting me back on board!!!

Dean, I don't understand crossovers very much but is The RF 7 crossover low order first or is it high order 4th?

I a novice, understand it this way. The braided cat 5's are high in capacitance. This can cause some amps to ossilate at around 30 kilohertz which is inaudable.The amp gets hot and self-distructs in time. The ossilation is sort of like shrill feedback build up on a microphone. The Zobel goes from + to - at the speaker, and dampens this ossilation. Do a search on Zobel on audio asylum "cable Forum". I have recently learned a lot there.

Even if you have the original boxes, shipping them could give you a nightmare. Buyer pick-up or you deliver. Same with getting the RF 7's.

Dave, before you connect them, I strongly suggest you put a Zobel at each speaker. Two at each speaker if you bi-wired. No matter what speakers or amp you have!!! What Belden cable # did you use and what connectors?

Anyone try CAT 5 braided cables or other high capacitance speaker cable with Rotel power amps or RF 7's or both Rotel and RF 7's? With or without a Zobel network?

Well the Rotel made a crack in the hot side speaker and is now dead in the water=no more sound either speaker. All fuses still in tact. Any recommendations on where to repair close to Pittsburgh-Butler Pa. There is good ventilation around the amp.

I am also noticing that the left side of the amp is much hotter than the right. It was not like this before!

I have a Rotel 200w/ch power amp which has been running warm to the touch very nicely. It has a built in protection feature which shut itself off. I felt it and it was too hot to keep your hand on it. I turned it completely off and when it cooled back down too a normal warm, and turned it back on and it is running again with a large fan blowing on it. It has no internal fans. Can you suggest a source for this sudden heat? Is something about to fail and this is a precursor? The sound is still terrific.

I have owned both and loved both. The RF 7's get my vote due to ease of placement. The Khorns must be in the corners period. A second consideration is getting either to your home in one piece. These are both heavy. The seller must deliver himself or you must pick them up to minimize damage. I would try very hard to buy used in excellent condition whichever and pick them up from the seller. That limits who you can buy them from. Original boxes for Khorns are very important for shipping. Email me if you want to discuss further.

For those of you that have installed Barry's siesmic isolation DIY, what improvements did you percieve and on what components? < DIY=ball bearings in cups on a board supported on a slightly inflated inner tube>
