  1. Thanks for the feedback, I have been away on business so it has been difficult for me to get back to you. How much difference in sound quality as compared to the M3A? Also is it the L1 or LS1 as I know there were a couple of revisions. Once I am back from the trip I will contact you. Thanks,
  2. Looking for some help and guidance as to what tube pre will go well with the cornwalls. I will have around $800-900 on the used market to spend but obviously do not want to waste on the wrong purchase. Pre's that I have been considering, Audible Illusions M3A, Rouge 99 Magnum, Anthem Pre 1 etc. I would prefer one with a built in phono as I still enjoy vinyl. Thanks,
  3. Just wanted to add my five cents worth. I am currently running a Nad S200 power amp through my Cornwalls and it sounds fantastic. If you think 225 watts is enough of course?. You can pick them up on Audiogon for about $750.0-$800.0 US which is a bargain IMHO. Good luck with the search. (One day I will have to try a tubed pre with it) Ricky.
  4. Thanks for the info and they look like expensive peices of equipment. Do you find the power is enough to drive them to moderate levels?
  5. I need a little guidance as I am new to this tube game. I am on the verve of giving in and buying tube equipment. My budget will be around $2000 for a pre and power(preferably monoblocs). What combination will work best with the Cornwalls. My present pre and power are Nad silver series S100 and S200. Any help for the newbie would be greatly appreciated as I am suffering from itchy feet. Ricky.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I guess I will stick to deadening the outside and look at the P-Trap as it can certainly get harsh at times. The Butyl rubber tape I hear about, where can I get it from and does it work better or worse than the caulking?

First impression is the mid’s are smoother yet more defined. Everything seems to integrate just a little better. Now granted the changes are subtle but noticeable. I did the ring the horns thing before and after and yeah they are pretty well damped now. It will take some getting used to, I listened to the un-caulked for 21 years, they are still snappy on snares but not as edgy. I think I am going to like this. Has anyone ever done the tweeters? Somehow the tweeters sound a little clearer, could be a placebo affect not sure about that yet. After I have some serious listening under my belt I’ll write more. ---------------- After reading all the replys on this topic I have a question. I have used glazing (putty) strips which comes in 25ft lengths from Home Depot on my horns for the Cornwalls. What I would like to know is it possible to disconnect the driver from the horn and dip/coat the horn in rubber/neopreen inside and out and of course masking off areas which do not need it. Has anyone tried this? Thoughts or concerns?
  8. Hi, I am a new member to this forum as well as a new owner of Klipsch Cornwall speakers. Love everything about them but there is always a but. These speakers are not kind to poor recordings and sometimes the highs can be just a little too overwhelming. I have heard about crossover changes(ALK) and upgrading caps and internal wiring etc. I hear a lot of people talking about tube amps etc. My set-up at the moment consists of Museatex CDD and upgraded Bitstream converter by John Wright, Nad Silverline S100 and S200. All my cabling is Kimber. So for all you folks out there any help or information would be appreciated. The newbie
