  1. Does someone have a Cornwall XO schematic? or point me to where it is? I'm not looking for the ideal/ideas for a mod but rather a schematic of what actually is/how it should be. My Cornwalls were made in 1983 if that makes a difference. Thanks.
  2. Finally got an e-mail back. The tweeters are sold. Sure wish people would pull their adds when they sell.
  3. Striking veneer. I bet they'll be gorgeous when you are done.
  4. Audible, Gullah, Thanks for the info. I'm sure with the resources here that I'm going to get those speakers going and enjoy the sweet sound. I figure if that guy still has the tweeter for $40 that I'll pick it up just in case. Thanks again.
  5. I'd sure love to hear about the Scott, Fisher, and Harman Kardon stereo amps/integrateds if he had any for sale. Wish I had a ton of money to spend on MC and Marantz gear!
  6. I contacted Barry and went to check out the Cornwalls today. I ended up bringing them home with me. They need some work - the tweeters aren't working, grills were modified years ago and the cloth is now worn in some spots, few deep scratches in the wood. Overall though I think that they look good. My biggest concern at this point is getting the tweeters to work. I'll post out asking for advice/pointers in another thread. ...and I want to say Thank-you, Gullah! I wouldn't have seen that ad in craigslist if you hadn't pointed it out as Klipsch was misspelled and wouldn't have come up. The speakers were pretty impressive and that's fairly amazing considering that the tweeters aren't working. I look forward to getting the tweeters working and listening to the speakers in their full glory...and I'll host a good glass in your name when I do.
  7. If "klipschanizing" someone is giving them their first taste of Klipsch then I'm still in virgin territory. I'm trying to lose that distinction but haven't yet. I've now read the original thread which started the discussion and it is ironic. I'm just looking for a good deal on a first pair of speakers and it does turn out that I had tried to get the same pair when it was listed on craigslist. I just didn't overbid the competition. I guess if anybody was going to make money it was just as well the guy who was injured on the motorcycle.
  8. I'm new at this game too and also have a 500C that I'm looking to get speakers for. As I understand others, they are pretty similar speakers with the Forte's being taller, thus larger, thus slightly better bass. I would choose the Heresy's between the two because what I want to do is set them on a shelf but what I've heard is that it's hard to go wrong with either. Hope you get a good deal.
  9. Silversport, That's funny - guess that Klipschanized is a good term for what happened. Gotta' keep a sense of humor and get up my post count so I become a worthy buyer.
  10. It's hard to beat free with a stick...and they look clean!
  11. Gullah, As I had stated I'm new to the tube amp side of the world and have been on the AudioKarma web site. Since I was looking for my first pair of tube amp speakers to go with my newly purchased first tube amp (a Fisher 500C) - and Heresy seems to be the one most people speak of - a person recommended that I come here to get more info. You'll see that my first post was last night and was a question about Heresy Signature Series because I saw a set on Craigslist. I have no idea of the deep background on these Heresy's and whatever conflict you and Olorin had as I purposely try not to go to posts that I know have flaming/heated disputes. I too had contacted someone on Craigslist a few days ago about a reasonably priced pair of Heresy's and never heard back. People often just won't reply if they have sold. I have no idea whether these are the same or not and really don't know that it matters for any reason. First come, first serve. When I saw the post about '77 Heresy's, I read it and there seemed to be a clear offer to sell at that time for $150 to someone who could pick up locally. I e-mailed right after that I wanted them and was local. E-mail sometimes isn't read right away so I then posted this morning. Olorin PM'd me after I posted and said that he had both Fortes and Heresy speakers but wanted to trade his Fortes for the Heresy's (assuming that I would get them). I told him that I hadn't heard back from you so didn't know whether I had them or not (after all someone could have e-mailed you earlier than I wanting them) but I wasn't really interested in trading as I wanted a smaller speaker because it would be going on the bookshelf. Apparently Olorin is an old hand at dealing but I didn't know that and told him about there being a couple of pair on Craigslist (including the Signature series that I had been asking about) and that maybe he could arrange a trade with them. I'm not really sure why you would question my sincerity or newness to tube amps/tube speakers? Everyone is new at some point as were you whether it was many years or two weeks ago. I'm not really sure about being "In all fairness..." but they are certainly your speakers and you may sell to whom you wish when you wish as did the original seller to you. I can't tell you that I feel good about this as it does seem that there was a public offer (to sell) and acceptance (of stated terms). I'm glad that you two have settled differences and I'm sorry that I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth.
  12. Fairchild, Thanks for thinking of me. I hope that I hear good things back from Gullah soon as I'd love to pick up the speakers this weekend.
  13. I'm sure not looking to stir the pot but I'd love to have a set of Heresy's for a decent price and am local and can pick up. I'm looking for my first set of speakers for my first tube amp and Heresy is the speaker that keeps coming up. I've sent e-mail with my phone number too. Thanks.
  14. Hi Olorin, Thanks for the info. It certainly would be great if we could walk into a store and audition all the great sounding equipment out there but it seems that's difficult enough even when it's new. I believe that the Forte's are a little bigger than I would like. I like the basic size of the Heresy's too. If anyone has a recommendation for another good tube speaker that's about Heresy size or smaller then I'd love to hear about it. Thanks.
  15. I'm new to the tube amp world and will be rebuilding a Fisher 500C. I'm looking for good speakers to go with the amp and keep hearing about the Heresy. I saw an add for Heresy speakers that says that they were made in the 80's and are part of the signature series and are signed in the back by Paul W. Klipsch. I was wondering what that really means if anything? Are the speakers any better in any way? Worth more? or..?? Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for in a Heresy speaker as they were made over several years and must have undergone some changes? Thanks for helping the newbie.
