  1. I can see today's highschool math quiz... QUESTION: What is the benefit of a 16:9 ratio TV over a 4:3 ratio TV? Both have a 32" diagonal length. ANSWER: The 4:3 ratio TV, when used in 16:9 mode, offers 15.7% less used viewing area than the 16:9 ratio screen even though the 4:3 ratio screen has 12.3% more total screen area.
  2. I have had the same problem with CD players that were on their last legs. Also, some CD players simply do not over sample as well as others, thus they lose their place more easily. Not sure about the NAD. Are you using the feet or the spikes for your 20's? P.S. - Just glued my 20's two weeks ago. I'm waiting for my 10's to need the same repair! Edit - removed comment on CD player location...
  3. Actually, I installed spikes on my sub yesterday. What were the results? Well, in a carpeted room there was not a night&day difference, but the bass does seem to be more solid (ie. less reverberation on the low notes). It was a subtle improvement, but worth the minimal effort and the minimal cost.
  4. I agree with the bass shaker recommendation. Thinking outside of the box, here is another long-shot alternative: Pick up a 12V power supply and an electronic crossover for a car stereo that has a variable HIGH PASS filter ranging down into the 32Hz range. Pyle makes several. This will allow you to reduce the low-end bass without eliminating the upper end of the bass re-enforcement you want with your SB's. This will help reduce the vibration factor and it can easily be unplugged for full-range sound. Of course for that kind of investment, you could sell the SB's and upgrade
  5. Thank you Klipsch customer service! For future reference this is part number: 060270 (Spike Rod) Plenty of 'em in stock through Klipsch!
  6. A little more research revealed that the KLF-10's came with spikes installed under the spike covers. The 20's had a kit that came with the speaker. The previous owner of my 20's never installed the kit, thus, no spikes on my speakers. Instead, I have the pedestals that cover the threaded stud. So, my quest for the illusive spike kit continues. Any ideas? Any good aftermarket (Partsexpress, etc...) solutions? Thanks!
  7. I just looked at the feet of my KLF-20's. I was suprised to see screw-on pedestals. I was suprised because if memory serves (which it doesn't always) I thought my KLF-10's came with spikes under snap-on pedestals. Does somebody make (and where can I find) screw-on spikes to replace the pedestals? Thanks in advance!
  8. MBAJNER: Very nice. I bet that works great. It looks like it does a good job of bringing your horns relatively close vertically & it looks good, too. Again, this confirms my suspicion that I need to keep my C7 close to where it is currently to maintain the sound I like. Maybe a shelf is a better bet for me. P.S. I agree, the S6's are (IMHO) the best surround speaker produced by Klipsch.
  9. SFOGG: Good idea, but it's a 32" with a countoured base. Right now, the center sits about 12" higher than the mains. The new stand would seperate the speakers by about 24". DR. WHO: I agree - It seems that the further the center is vertically from the mains, the more of a perceivable difference there is in the sound stage. I think if I had more distance, I could probably get away with pointing them upwards, but I think I am too close to the speaker to get away with it... These Klipsch's are like real estate. Besides requiring lots of it, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION is what seems to matter.
  10. Long-time reader, but this is my first post... I've experimented with this a bit, but I want to hear from other peoples' experiences. The wife has challenged me to "hide" my KLF-C7. No small task - I am considering placing it UNDER the TV (ie. buy a new TV stand). I am concerned that I will lose some of the imaging and seemless transition from my KLF-20's to the C7 that I currently enjoy with all the horns at about the same level. Does anyone have their C7 placed low and pointed upward? I have KSP-S6's in the rear with a Sony DA5-ES receiver. The primary listening position is 8' from the C7 and the 20's are 12' apart. S6's on either side 12' apart. Thanks!
