Even if you select the "Keep me signed in on this computer" option, your ability to bid gets cancelled at some point. It says you're signed in, and you can still go to the "My eBay" page - but you can't leave feedback (or bid) without signing in again. The best way to counter this is to sign out, then sign back in within 30 minutes of placing your bid. I just picked the 30 minute figure (and it's worked for me over 200 times without exception). Also, if you sign in from more than one computer, this will result in a false sign in on all but the last machine you signed in from.
