  1. Hey Jeremy, is that Sony tt working ok for your Dad-in-law?

Yes it is, thanx for asking Michael. I'm looking for a cheap receiver, with a phono stage, for him. He's borrowing one of my old Kenwood's now. He is also using my "White van" garage speakers, so it looks like i'm gonna have to turn him on to some horns! (or get me some more horns for the garage) He is pretty happy and wanted me to thank you, I was just waiting for a better opportunity. Before you know it, he'll have the sickness too. Thanx again,

  2. I feel bad for ya Bill. I know this is hind-sight, but thought I would share.

Here is what I do to keep boxes tamper proof. I lay 3 or 4 pieces of red sewing thread perpendicular across the seams that i'm going to tape. After they are taped over you will be able to see if the box was tampered with. The thread will either be cut or pulled off with the tape, or missing all together. I have done this several times in the past with good success. I always notify the buyer so they can inspect it before opening.

  3. expecting?

or am I way off base?

That's my guess too. Stereo criers [:P] Mine are 2 and 7 years old, so they are far enough apart not to be too much trouble at the same time. Congrats to you. Sometimes I think the saying is true, "You aren't a parent until you have two children"

    Good luck Kev,

  4. It's been almost a week ago now, but I just got home yesterday from the trip. Also i've been away from the board for a few weeks as I was taking a 3 week Interim course at the local community college. It was hard to stay away but I managed with shear will power, and pulled an "A" in my intro Psychology class.

Anyway, My dad and I were heading to Columbus, OH for a big car show that we have attended together for 14 years. We pass right through the north side of Indy, so I thought i'd try to hook up with Michael. He had been holding a Sony turntable for a while, that he was "paying forward" to me. I'm trying to get a cheap vinyl rig set up for my father-in-law, who has a pretty nice rock collection. He has not been able to play in over ten years since his wife, my mother-in-law, passed away after a long fight with cancer. He is a great guy and just kind of put that part of his life in boxes. I bought a Thorens TD-124 a while back, and ever since he heard it set up with my Cornwalls, he has the bug.

Michael gave me a really nice TT. Much nicer than I expected, and it will work great for my father-in-law. It had rained hard all the way from Chicago, so we were a little behind schedule, and couldn't stay long. Michael is a great guy "I expected no less". He showed me his Thorens TD-125 that he just got. I heard the problem he was having. I hope he got it worked out. I got to listen to his Lascalas with the THX subs, wow what a live, forward sound! He then let us listen to the K-horns in his gallery. I have never listened to k-horns before, and I was not disappointed. I was afraid the room would be to "live" with hard wood floors, but it not really. He has good corners and a chair in the sweet spot. He played Pink Floyd DSOTM for me. Wow! what lower bass extension. I'm definately in love! I wish I had corners. Maybe after the kids move out.

We didn't have time to listen to the home theater, or see the "garage o'Klipsch". I needed to have an excuse to come back another time :) I can see why Dr. Who is such good friends with Michael, and keeps going back! Thanx for the hospitality Michael! He was the 1st forum member that I have met. Hopefully there will be more in the future.

  5. Hey Michael! I was wondering if you still have that Sony turntable we discussed a while back. I'm coming through Indy Thursday late morning, if you still have it maybe I could pick it up. I'm coming across 465 north and over to 70 on my way to Columbus. You're on the NW side of town, right? Let me know, maybe we can hook up. I'd love to see the "House o'Klipsch"
