  1. No other center for a Forte II exists beyond an Academy or another Forte. Anything else is a compromise at best. End of story.Cool

I don't know, I'd say that a Quartet would be next in line after another Forte. Three way design, same midrange horn as the Forte II. I feel that an Academy is more of a compromise than either a Forte or Quartet.

  2. Wow, its almost impossible to show how to do it because the forum keeps wanting to make a web link out of what I'm typing.

In order to make a clickable link you have to type URL with brackets [ ] around it at the beginning and /URL with brackets [ ] around it at the end.

So, it would look like this: (URL)http://www.klipsch.com(/URL) except you'd replace the parenthesis with brackets.

  3. 2 to 3 DB is nothing. If we were talking 10 DB then there might be something to say about it but really, for the better sound match the difference is nothing to make any kind of a deal out of, in my never to be humble opinion anywayStick out tongue

I agree. I just posted the specs to show how similar they were. Nothing that a little bump on receiver's center speaker output couldn't balance out nicely.

  4. Welcome to the forums!

Klipsch makes a great product, don't they?

Main differences between the Synergy F1 and Reference RF-62:

The RF-62 has a much higher sensitivity rating, meaning your amplifier/receiver won't have to use as many of its watts to play at the same volume as it would with F1s.

The RF-62's dual woofers will give you stronger bass output.

The previous generation RF-25 has the same size woofers and similar specifications to the RF-62. There's a seller on eBay that has brand new pairs for $449/best offer Buy-It-Now:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RF-25-Tower-speaker-BLACK-NEW_W0QQitemZ290336284167QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item4399641e07&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

That might be something to seriously consider as it gets you into the price range of the F1s but similar performance of the RF-62s.

  5. If you want bass output with a similar footprint look into a pair of Forte or Forte IIs. Their increased cabinet size and rear passive radiator make their bass output significantly higher than a Heresy ever will have. Heresys and Fortes usually sell for about the same price too, making them an ever better bargain.

  6. An Academy has a 96dB sensitivity rating, RC-64 99dB, RC-62 98dB.

When Fortes were made, multi-channel surround sound wasn't as nearly advanced as it is now. I'm just glad that there are several options for a center speaker with Fortes.

  7. The difference between 90 watts and 120 watts is approximately 1 decibel of output. Don't get too caught up in the watts game, some companies' 75 watt amplifiers will play louder and cleaner than other companies 200 watt amplifiers. Many times it is a marketing stunt as you've described.

What exactly are you experiencing that makes the new receiver seem like it doesn't seem to have as much juice as your old one?

  8. I think I'd rather get a Heresy center channel.

I'm not sure why you'd choose a Heresy as a center speaker with Fortes. If you're willing and able to get a Heresy-sized center speaker why not go with another Forte?

  9. There is a way to do it, but you will probably not be happy with the sound, there's all kinds of screwy things that result.

You'd be better off using them as surround speakers and then running your AVR in one of its multi-channel stereo modes.

  10. Excellent scores!! I paid $150 on eBay for my KG 3.5s and was able to drive about an hour and pick them up from the seller. $50 is an incredible deal on them, I think they retailed at $600 when new!

Mine are used as surround speakers and they really get the job done. I listen to a lot of music in multi-channel stereo and also music DVD/Blu-Ray concerts and they work very well.

  11. Your RC-62 is a bit big for RB-51 front mains, but it'll allow you to upgrade them in the future if you want without having to upgrade your center speaker. If you're 80% movies/TV then you'll really like having the RC-62.

RS-42s from the current Reference lineup are excellent, although you can certainly go with older Reference such as the RS-25, RS-35, etc.

  12. Tell me about it! The Belles were posted for sale right after I bought my Forte IIs. I don't know why but I didn't even think of contacting the seller about them. At the time I could have easily re-sold my Forte IIs for the $500 that the Belles were listed for.

I did almost buy the KLF-30s, in fact I emailed the seller about them but then my best friend expressed interest in them and I let him buy them. He had just been divorced and was buying a few things that his wife would have never let him buy. I actually had his KLF-30s at my house for about a year while he was figuring out where he was going to settle down. Let's just say they were well taken care of while they were here! [6]

  13. Welcome to the forum!

I doubt if anyone here is going to recommend any type of in-wall speaker to go with Heresy's. If you feel your KG 1.5s are overpowered by the Heresys are you able to raise their output level in your Yamaha's setup menu?

In-wall speakers are typically recommended as a last resort or where high-fidelity audio is low on the list of why you're using them. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll like your 1.5s over in-walls.

Can you take pictures and give us an idea of why your 1.5s won't work? Would putting them on stands work?

Also, you mention 'rear speakers' a few times, although in a 5.1 setup the surround speakers are intended to be placed on the side of the main listening area and not behind it as in the old Dolby Pro-Logic days. Would a configuration like that work?
