  1. I prefer to remove all skin and all surface fat. Then I usually cut the roast into at least two pieces...speeds cooking time and you get much more surface area which means more tasty bark. www.amazingribs.com is a wonderful resource for all things BBQ. What kind of smoker do you have? I use a Bradley.

One more tip...google the recipe for 'Vaunted Vinegar Sauce" and then mix this half and half with regular Kraft BBQ sauce...SOOO good on pulled pork...you gotta try this!

  2. (There's been a ceiling fan sitting in it's box outside my oldest son's bedroom for a month or more, waiting for someone to put it up.)

I have had the experience of putting up several ceiling fans....leave it in the box and crank up the tunes.

  3. We haven't had one of these threads for a while and since very few seem to frequent the "Movies and Music "section, I thought we might try this here.

My current fave is "Rosanne Cash - The List" simply fantastic recording and production quality and arrangements. Credit to her husband John Leventhal...

    Let's hear your nomination.

  4. All of the home built mid horns that I have seen, have the two sides curved, and the top and bottom panels are flat. Has any one tried to design or build one where the top and bottom panels are the curved ones and the side panels are flat? Seems to me that if this were possible, that it might well improve the horizontal polar patterns of these horns, although the verticals may be squeezed... Floyd Toole teaches us that good dispersion at all frequencies, is a common denominator of all good speakers...seems that if the room reflections contain the same spectra as the direct sound, that they are not perceived as separate or distinct and therefore contribute to the overall spaciousness of the total sound...Any thoughts??

  5. and it's amazing how little energy is coming from them already as compared to the mids and woofers.

I can only speak for myself but after many years of power tools and the odd rock concert, it is amazing how much hearing loss I have at frequencies above 8khz...

  6. Enclosing the back of the Khorn reduces the flare rate on the last fold of the horn, thus decreasing performance. The false corner instead allows the final fold of the horn to expand at a more natural rate by using the corner of the room as its outside form line.

Chris, I am having a hard time getting my head around this. I really don't see how closing in the back is any different to having false corners in regards to size of the final flare...

  7. In a 3x2x3 in. deep single gang switch box, the code book I use says that you are allowed to have 8 #14 gauge wires (not including bare copper wires) and 1 wire cap...or 7 wires/3caps...or 6 wires/5 caps. Using #12 wire, the combos are 6/1, 5/2, 5/3, 4/4, 4/5... so you are likely over the limit and should move the 14/2 light wire to the outside switch box.

I would guess that your missing neutral can be found in the dead plug receptacle upstairs...remove the outer cover and use your volt meter to check for power between the smaller vertical slot(hot wire) and the metal box...if you have voltage there, there is probably a loose neutral inside there somewhere...
