  1. Speakerfritz, My mistake, I have the AK-4 networks, I believe the AL-4 networks came in the other Heritage speakers except Heresy's in 2004.
  2. I placed an order with Alk Engineering for a pair of es-networks for my 2004 khorns the last week of August. AL said that it would be about a month before he could get them built and shipped out to me. I've never heard any of Alks networks designs at all. I'm going strictly on what I've read on this forum as well as AL'S reputation. They will be installed in 2004 khorns with the AL-4 networks. I understand they should take these khorns to another level. I will post my impressions after I install and listen for a few days and maybe post some installation pics also. AL said that I have a two week return policy if I'm not satisfied. He assures me that these will blow the AL-4'S away so I'm trusting AL at this point and my ears after installation.I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Randy
  3. Danny, I'm the guy you bought the Heresy's from, we need to hook up and have a jam session. I owe you a six pack anyway, so I guess I need to pay up and I would really like to hear your setup. Randy
  4. Mark, I've got a Mac mc-402 (400 x 2) hooked up to 2004 k-horns. It has been a very good match for two years now. Some would say and I agree to some extent this is overkill as far as running k-horns but I have plenty of headroom which is important to me as I like to light up the k-horns every now and then, which by the way have never let me down. To me its a perfect match as far as solid state and if I'm not mistaken Paul Klipsch himself recommended Mac amps for his Heritage line. I purchased my amp new which was not cheap but I consider Mac amps to be the Harley Davidson of the audio industry, great design and build quality and will last for years to come. Keep a check on Audiogon.com, there are usually several Mac amps for sale that will offer you great solid state performance as well as a good used price.
  5. Before I put this on Audiogon, wanted to give someone a chance on a brand new, never been opened in the box Sanus, black 5 shelf audio, vidio rack. I originally bought three of these from Audio Advisor.com ( Great Folks ) about a year ago and ended up only using two of the racks in my setup. You can go to their web site and get all the info on this rack system, ( Audio Advisor.com - Sanus model number EFAB-5 mkll audio rack ). You will see what I paid for each of these racks on their site, I will sell this one for 200.00 dollars with free shipping anywhere in the lower 48 states. I love the two of these racks that Im using, very well made and geat looks. Considering the cost of Audio - Video furniture and the Sanus name, this would offer someone a nice rack at a decent price. E-mail me if interested. Thanks
  6. Thanks for the input guys, I have decided to leave well enough alone and enjoy the music. Sometimes you can find yourself thinking and that can be dangerous at times in this hobby.
  7. Taking notice that klipsch has removed the 1 inch spacer board between the top hat horn section and the bass bin in the new khorns, Im thinking about removing the spacer board on my 2004 models. My khorns are set up in a two channel - home theater room ( 17 x 21 x8 ) and they are on the short wall with false corners. I know the long wall would be better for these performance wise but, because of home theater issues I had to compromise. Im sitting about 14 feet back for 2 channel and movie watching. The other night I got to thinking if I removed that spacer board that would lower the horn section down an inch. We all know how tall the khorns are and the importance of the sweet spot, the horn section especially the tweeter seems to be taller than ear level in my setup which Im thinking that if I removed the spacer boards it might improve performance. Im also thinking that If I did this because of the the rear upper section supports and the rear mid horn support slight modification might void my warranty. Doing this might be a total waste of time and also considering any warranty issues. These khorns are wonderful, by far the best speakers I've ever owned and the last speakers for mains I ever buy. Just wondering if this easy mod what help performance at all in my setup.Give me some input please guys. Thanks..........Randy
  8. Silversport, I've got someone coming to my home on Saturday to most likely buy these. This would eliminate having to box and ship. If he decides for some reason not to buy, I promise I will get with you next and work out a possible purchase on these. I hope you understand, yourself and everyone else on this forum share a passion for klipsch speakers that I have also and have had since the mid seventies. I just dont want to sell these to anybody, I want to sell these to someone on this forum that I know will use these to enjoy the great klipsch sound. Thats the reason I wanted to give the forum members first choice to buy these. People like yourself and others that have shown interest share that passion. I know Im rambling on but I want to make sure that if this person buys these on saturday that there will be no hard feelings because I value your input on this forum as well as all others. I've learned alot over the years from everyone here. Can you feel the passion or not? Thanks.......... Randy Austin.......KHORN#1

  14. I have the Denon 2900 with complete audio sections mods done by underwood audio out of Atlanta and I can tell you that compared to the stock version, there is no contest. The video section of this unit was already top notch right out of the box but the audio section was missing alot considering the price of this unit. I paid 600.00 for this unit stock on a closeout deal which I thought was a good deal and then sent it to Underwood audio to let them do all the complete audio mods. The complete audio mods were not cheap but the sound difference was amazing compared to the stock audio circuits. The soundstage, the bass,no more shrill to the upper end, everything audio was improved. Im running the unit with a Denon pre/pro, Mcintosh amp mc402 (400 x 2) and 2004 k-horns. Overall I would put this unit with the audio mods up against anything Denon has out at this time. Denon has always put more quality into their video circuits than in their audio sections.I have not auditioned any other units but have read where with these audio mods it would top units costing into the thousands. All I know is I am very satisfied with this unit and until HD dvd is out and well established I will be rockin with this Denon 2900 until at least I feel like I've got my money's worth and then some.
