  2. I can still remember humble him without laser lights smoke bombs etc just blue denums chequered shirt covered in sweat with bleeding fingers !He gave the people everything he had and more if could borrow it............ RORY GALLAGHER a guy with brilliance and modesty who never considered himself above the knockabout.
  3. Could anybody out there explain to me the differences in the RF 7'S tonal character before and after Dean has done his work with his crossover modifications? There is obviosly an improvement in performance judging by how highly regarded Dean is and how in demand his services are but I ask where is the improvement most audible after he has performed his RF 7 surgery???[8]
  4. [8] Could anybody explain to me the differences in RF 7's tonal character before and after Dean has done his work with his crossover modifications? There is obviously an improvement in performance judging by how highly regarded Dean is but where is the improvement most audible after he has performed his RF 7 surgery?? Thanks
  5. Thanks for your advice Dean. What would you recommend in terms of a nice tube intergrated? My very last comment on this subject as I dont wish to drone on and on is simply this Dean with due respect to your good self and to the quality of the RF 7's ....why would you be required to do modifications on so many 7's if people were satisfied with the product initially??
  6. My room is 5 by 7 yards long with 9 ft ceiling. My amp is a Denon AVC A11 SR which I thought was the American equivilant to the 4802 R. 7 by 125 watts or in my case 2 by 160 running only the 7's.As the main source of ear fatigue comes from TV I ask is there a difference in audio output between various Digital Set Top Boxes using optical cable.
  7. I certainly will keep you informed as to how I go.First tweak is the Kimber 4tc.Then probably a dedicated power amp that can drive well into the 2 ohms world. You people are fair dinkum tops and I really thank you all for showing concern and sharing your wisdom and advice to me.I shall overcome my hic cup.
  8. Wuzzer the source that concerns me most with ear fatigue is TV.I purchased a set top box made by Sherwood SD ,$230 AUD,I thought they all did basically the same job of grabbing the signal from the air.I do have the 7's toed in facing my seat directly in front of my Toshiba 127cm SD rear pro 16 ft away from my seat.Ceiling height 9 ft .I would have thought my heavy carpets and heavy curtains would hinder top end reproduction as against listening to them in a tiled room with double sliding glass doors. Thanks mate
  9. I would greatly appreciate your recommendations on amplification.Obviously you would not consider anything other than seperates.I'm only just recovering financially from the 7's and as such I ask is it feasable to use the Denon as a pre for the time being, purchase a seperate amp with a view to getting a matching pre when funds become more readily available.I would dearly love to listen to the 7's being driven by value for dollar seperates to compare and decide if it is the amplification which is causing my before mentioned concerns,Thanks MrMcGoo you've probably forgotten more than I'll ever know on the subject and I thank you for your time
  10. My gear is as follows...Denon AVR 4802amp,Toshiba sdk 350 dvd player, old Yammy tuner, kimber coax interconnects between Toshy and amp and sub and amp Sub is a Velodyne hgs 18 and obviously the 7's with some Kimber 4 tc speaker wire to be delivered tommorrow.
  11. There probably wasnt that much of a sound difference in them after 40 or so hours. It was that I was just playing it safe by listening to them at moderate levels for that period of time in case a break in period was in fact not a myth. After untold discipline I couldnt wait to hammer them and thats when after the initial WOW factor had subsided I experienced the before mentioned complaints.I do like the sparkling in your face sound but these at this stage the 7's sound over the top in the high frequencies. What connects and speaker wire do you use?Do you listen to your system through pure direct ? Dont get me wrong I'm not about to nor will I ever slur the Klipsch reputation.I probably just need a minor tweak here or there hopefully. It's finding out where and what options. Thanks for your response tkdamerica and I love my Denon too!
  12. If I am unable to tame it down a little it appears to me that my first experience with Klipsch by buying their ex flagship speaker has been expensive and poor.I 'm starting to feel like a purchased a lemon!
  13. I have read quite a lot about Dean and his modifications but the trouble for me is that I live in Sydney Australia.I do thankyou for your reply and help though.
  14. Three weeks ago I had my RF 7's delivered and was extremely happy with their sound. However after breaking them in so to speak for around 40 or so hours I found that when I gave em a bit they sound harsh and almost lispy on the s's.I own a Denon 4802 which isnt a particularly bright amp and backed the treble off to -6 whereas it was either on + 6 or pure direct with my Yammy 1000's..My furnishings are heavy carpet and heavy curtains. The sound while exciting and alive, not to mention loud is to my dissapointment somewhat fatiguing on the ears after a while especially at decent volume.A mate told me that they will smooth out a little over time and to also get some Kimber 4tc speaker wire.Has anyone else had a similar experience with the 7's and if so what was the remedy if any. Thanks
  15. Would it be a mistake to allow Karaoke to be sung throgh them?I only asked about a so called break in period as I intend to hammer them on a consistent basis as thats the way Ive always liked my music,,,, in your face, bright and very loud,
  16. Thanks for your advice guys.If I may ask one more question.Once I get my 7's should I break em in so to speak and if so how does one go about that and for what duration of time or is it all just pie in the sky crap?
  17. Well if you are suggesting not to waste money on speaker cable I would be looking for a DVD player and a CD player.Something to put a little sparkle into the music.Does anyone out there in Klipsch land have any recommendations for either component with a view of not purchasing a weak link. Also is it feasable to add on a power amp [ Rotel maybe } and put it through the Denon.Could that work??Any advice is appreciated Thanks
  18. []In 2 weeks I will have a pair of RF 7's delivered .It is my first experience into the wonderful world of Klipsch and as such I have 2 questions please.I own a Denon AVC A11sr [ equivilant to AVR 4802 I believe].Will that be OK with the 7's for music? Also would Kimber Kable 4tc be suitable for the 7's or is there more revealing cable out there for 50 Aussie dollars a metre??The thought of hearing Zep,Tull,Hendrix,TheWho, Nektar,Budgie etc at realistic SPL's have me at 46 years of age happily entering my 2nd term of adolesence!!!.Any advice would be warmly appreciated as I really want to get the most out of my 7's and fully enjoy the Klipsch experience.Thanks. Toshiba sdk 350 DVD player Denon AVC A11 SR Amp Velodyne HGS 18 Sub
  19. I feel certain that if any of you drumming fans purchased the Rush In Rio DVD and watched a true master by the name of Neil Peart do his stuff on O Baterista you would reassess you opinion of who is very good, great or gifted. Im a huge Zep fan but the gifted Mr Peart makes J,Bonham seem sedated on Moby Dick.O Baterista displays drumming bliss and is worth getting the DVD for that composition alone .It will showcase anyones audio system as well,
  20. [H]The rf 7's have been around for a few years now and I am wondering wheither Klipsch are soon to introduce a new series around the same price range. If so I'll hang off buying the 7's and wait to compare. If not I'll buy a pair very soon.I currently have a Denon AVC A11 sr amp,Toshiba SDK 350 dvd player and a pair of Yamaha NS1000 M speakers with a Velodyne HGS 18. My enjoyment comes from music much ,much more than from movies. Is Kimber cable the way to go for speaker wire with the RF 7's and if I chose to in the future buy a 5 channel power amp what is recommended for good clean grunt with detail for music?I like a forward midrange and a shimmering topend.I am a first timer on this or any forum and any advice would be most welcome
