  1. Maron, Your opinion is valued, so I will have to go vertical. I may try the Altec 511B with the JBL 2445J driver with a JBL adapter from 2 to 1 inch which according to JBL is ok up to 8000 Hz, and a BEC tweeter. Thanks for your input, this is the type of answer that is easy to understand. Larry
  2. Groomlakeares51, Thank you for the reply. Please refer to my response to Mas. The top sections have not been built until I find out if horizontal rather than vertical for the tweeter is a problem. Larry
  3. Mas, Thanks for the reply. The midrage horn that I am using is JBL 2380A with a 2445J driver, 11 Inches high and is on top of a Belle bass horn (Top half put away, I would not 'hurt' a Klipsch product). I am also using the JBL setup on the left and right speakers which are D-Man Jamborees modified to have the same volume in the rear chamber as the Khorn. WAF is critical and with the Emminence horn (same as BEC, but larger) on top it is just too tall. However, I do not want to compromise the systems if there is going to be a 'perceived' difference in sound. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much will this degrade the sound? Larry
  4. Please give opinions, suggestions, etc. on adding a horn tweeter to a Belle or Khorn in the horizontal plane rather than the vertical plane. The horn tweeters that I am considering are approximately 6" x 6" and this creates a very tall speaker, as well as a complete rework of the top part of the cabinet. I am interested in knowing if there are dispersion, time delay, etc. problems. Thanks for any help. Larry
  5. http://www.dswbrand.com/pa_horn.php Site for specs on Tu-150 Driver
  6. TU-150 150W 16 180-6000Hz 110dB 43 OZ 145(D)*90(D) 3.60 This is the actual specs from the distributors web page. Response is 180-6000 hz (no +-) and 110 db. Hope this helps Larry
  7. Bose 901 has 4 1/2 inch driver times 9, but the actual driver is probably less than 4 inches = 12 sq inches X 9 = approx 108 sq inches... not equal to a 15 inch speaker You are comparing 1 sweet orange with 9 lemons!! Smile! Larry
  8. A 6 inch speaker is only about 5 inches = approx 20 sq inches A 10 inch speaker is about 9 inches = approx 64 sq inches A 12 inch speaker is about 10 3/4 inches =approx 91 sq inches A 15 inch speaker is about 13 3/4 inches = approx 148 sq inches There would be an error in the above figures, because we are not talking flat surfaces, but they should still be 'ballpark'. Larry
  9. JC, If nobody shows for the Jamboree, I would like to purchase both sets of woofers. If not feasible, as to shipping, I understand. Larry
  10. This appears to be an Electrovoice SP12C? Larry
  11. John, Thanks for the information. I am not familiar with the K-510 horn. Now I have an information overload! The decision to use the K1000 horns with an appropriate driver or to consider other horns\drivers. I do appreciate the information. Larry
  12. John, I have two silver k1000 and it appears from your answer that they would cover the 1000 to 4-5000 cycle range (based on the k55v or the sahf). I am thinking of using them in the rear channels on a 7.1 system, with 12 inch Ev sp12c woofers and BEC tweeters. The size of the horns with k55 drivers allows the depth of the enclosure to have more WAF than the regular Heresy. Since I have followed a lot of your posts, please advise if you think this would work or would be somewhat of a mickey mouse idea. Thanks, Larry
  13. I would appreciate any information on the K1000 horn. Response and the correct driver, etc. Thank you, Larry
  14. Greg, Since my Email, etc. does not appear to work, please advise where you are getting the really nice grill cloth on the tops you are making. Thanks, Larry[8-)]
  15. The size is 3 1/4" high x 10 1/4" wide x 9" deep. Larry
  16. I WISH TO BUILD A CENTER CHANNEL THAT WILL FUNCTION WITH TWO KLIPSCHORNS (LEFT AND RIGHT) AND THAT IS LOW ENOUGH TO PLACE A TV SET ABOVE IT. THE WOOFER WOULD BE THE K33E WITH A JBL 2380A/2445J MIDRANGE AND K77 TWEETERS ON EACH SIDE OF THE MIDRANGE, OR WOULD IT BE BETTER TO USE ONE K77 AVOVE THE MIDRANGE. MY ROOM DIMENSIONS ARE 25 FEET BY 35 FEET WITH A 16 FOOT CELING (CATHEDRAL CEILING). THE CABINET WILL BE 28 INCHES (INSIDE DIMENSION) HIGH AND 16 INCHES (INSIDE DIMENSION) DEPTH.... THE WIDTH WOULD BE WHAT EVER IS NECESSARY TO HAVE THE SAME INTERNAL VOLUME AS THE CORNWALL (ALLOWING FOR THE LARGER MIDRANGE, ETC. IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE THE ALK UNIVERSAL CROSSOVER OR WOULD IT BETTER TO USE THE ALK TYPE B CROSSOVER? ANY ADVISE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS, LARRY REDELFS
  17. PLEASE ADVISE IF THERE WOULD BE ANY PROBLEM TO MOUNTING TWO K77 TWEETERS ON EITHER SIDE OF AN ALTEC 511B (K33E WOOFER) IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CABINET BELOW 30 INCHES VERTICALLY. I WOULD LIKE TO USE AS A CENTER CHANNEL BETWEEN KLIPSCHORNS. THANKS,LARRY REDELFS
