A random thought......by the time you are old enough to afford good gear you can no longer hear worth a damn to enjoy it.

I'm in Council Bluffs Iowa, I got to see him play live years ago, it was a great show for being at a bar.
I will drink with you tonight 🍻
Glad to have the company. Broke a 17 day dry period yesterday. So on Old Fashion #3. Listening to Mark Knopfler "Sailing to Philadelphia."

Where are you MyOwn? Yep I like most of his music. Good to know I'm not drinking alone.

All over the map with listening and enjoying an Old Fashion. Leonard Cohen, Mark Knopfler, Diana Krall. Never listened to Cohen much but I bought a couple of his CD's just to see. Cranked the sub up a bit.....sounds better.

FYI.....our ABC stores have Elijah Craig in the Christmas package and it comes with a bottle of Old Fashion mix.

Yeah I'm sure the bitters are in it with simple syrup. Other than that I don't know. When I was making them from scratch I used trulia (sugar substitute) in water and then frozen into real small ice cubes. Got a couple of bottles of bitters if I need extra. Yes I use orange rind.
This is pushing the sweetness thing a bit for me in that I usually have liquor on the rocks with nothing else. And I'm with you John on the Elijah Craig.

Dry January is right around the corner for me.
How is that Proof stuff. I almost ordered some so that I could use it with some of the bourbons I'm not enamored with.
Don't know....this will be my first bottle. Good ads though.

Hey John......warm enough here to wash the bubble. Got it done. Off to lunch later with about 10-12 oldtimers who meet each Friday. I know a couple of you gents will be perched on the edge of your seat wondering what I had for lunch so I'm going to spoil it as I know the menu well. Country style steak and rice with a Greek salad. They use tenderloin and it can be cut with a fork. Greek restaurant.
Another thing you will want to tell your grandchildren tonight is that this is Tarheel's 17th day without alcohol! No particular reason other than giving the liver a holiday. That should end this weekend in that LF is giving me one of my presents early. A bottle of Proof syrup for making Old Fashions the easy way. 32 drinks for each bottle. Now to choose the liquor. The last time I had one at a bar the tender used Bulleit Rye instead of Bourbon. May stick with that.
So there you go. You can rest easy now!

Well if I win the $262,000,000 all CCC&C members in good standing get a new toaster.

Yep a little cold for these old bones to wash the car too so I settled for a leather cleaner and conditioner on the two seats.
Need to give the music gear a work out so playing a CD I ordered and haven't played till now Boz Scaggs " A Fool To Care". Mellow......
Gents I bought 2 tickets for tonight's $262,000,000 Power Ball drawing. Think I've got a good shot at it.

Paul's web site and his work sounds so inviting makes me wish I had something special to send him. Use to have a cosmetically minty SX-1280 that I sold to a forum member who went by the name Mtnbker or something like that.
Well I do still have a SX-950 that my tax man gave me. It's in pretty nice shape....probably all original. Not sure where I would use it though. Mostly tubes these days but I do have an ATI 1502 that I really like with a tubed preamp.
Now if Paul worked on tube gear I have a very fine looking HK receiver from 1961 that I would send him.
Good thread.
