  1. Todd, Thanks for the response. I have been thinking about adding a sub to the center channel even though it is HP at 40hz. This way I wont be missing anything from where the 2.2 rolls of and lower. BFD is Berhinger Feedback Destroyer. Its a parametric EQ. Sooner or later I will figure out the best configuation for mu HT/music system. I will post my findings. ANyone else have any thoughts? earle
  2. I just bought a pair of Klipsch KG 5.2's. I now have 5.2's as my mains and surrounds and 4.2's as center surrounds. My center is a KG 2.2v. The preamp is a Rotel 1055, with a Rotel 985mkII and a RB 1070 powering the speakers. Subs are 2 SVS 20-39's and a 25-31PCi. The Rotel 1055 allows the subs to crossed over at 40hz, 60hz, and 80hz. It does go higher but I have no need of the higher frequencies. I currently have the speakers set to small with a 40hz xover. With this setting nearly all room mode issues are gone. The problem is the KG 2.2 is not capable of playing down to 40hz. The other speakers have no problem going down to 40hz in my room. I wish the Rotel had the Outlaw or HK triple crossover. I have been thinking of setting all spekers to large except the center. I could then HP the center at 60 or 80hz. This would solve the center channels problem, but the rest of the speakers cant go much lower than 40hz with any volume. I was using 60hz as a HP xover before I got the 5.2's as surrounds, but then I have a few bass issues(peaks and valleys). This worked out ok for HT but for music I really prefer the 40hz setting. Anyone have any thoughts. I have a BFD and am pretty good at using it, but I would really like to get rid of any extra wires and adapters in my system. They can only add noise. Earle
  3. I just got back from picking up my new surrounds. A mint pair of KG 5.2's. They sound great. I now have a KG HT. Mains KG 5.2's Center KG 2.2v Surrounds KG 5.2's Rear centers KG 4.2's Now for the fun part...The tweaking. pics and updates to come soon Earle
  4. I will be using a Rotel 985mkII to power the center channel along with the 4 surround speakers. A Rotel RB-1070 powers the mains. Just curious if the KG4 is a sonic match for the kg 5.2s? Earle
  5. I currently am using KG 5.2's, 4.2's, and a 2.2v. I wnat to upgrade to a larger center channel. Would the KG4 match with my other speakers? Im looking for a single 4.2 but this has proved difficult. The kg4 is shorter than the 4.2 and that helps. Thoughts... Earle

  19. Yeah theres something about the smooth silky sound of the Rotel. The 1055 is identical to the 1066, except for the tuner and onboard amps. The fact that it is $300 less is a huge bonus. I find myself able to listen much louder without getting tired of the sound. Watching a movie at reference was hard to to with the Denon, I just watched Blade II at reference with no fatigue. The adjustable LP/HP crossover is sweet. I have it set to 40hz and it sounds great. I know that I probably have it set too low, but going back and forth between 40 and 60, it just sounds better at 40hz. My mains are Klipsch KG 5.2's and they seem happy. I watched chapter 10 of the Haunting DTS ES at refernce and nothing bottemed. So Im gonna keep it there. I have posted some pics of the 3802 for sale in the generals area, sorry for the shamless pitch. Earle This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 09-16-2002 at 06:41 AM
