  1. Both myself and my mother use glasses for distance as well. Just out of curiosity, which does everyone like better.. plastic or metal frames? Full rim/half rim or no rim? I just ordered a plastic pair. The metal was starting to bother me. Plus I like the fact that there are no nose pieces to leave red marks.
  2. It's supposed to be a joke, sort of. My point of it was you can pay $$$$$$$$$$$$ for Bose or pay less for Klipsch and have equal if not better sound.
  3. Yeah, I spose they're cool people, in a sense. I dont understand the ones that wear them w/o a perscription. That doesn't make sense to me. I was just wondering because it seems like, stereotypically, they're considered a "geek symbol" or something like that, so it's almost as if celebs. choose not to wear them for that reason. The only other famous people I see with them are the wrinkled old hags we have for politicians, and they probably wear them to look sophisticated. So I guess it's a two way street []
  4. Just out of curiostiy, what famous people of today (music artists, actors/actresses) does anyone know of that actually wear eyeglasse? I know it sounds pesamistic, but it truly seems like there are hardly any that do. I'm aware of those who did in the 50's and 60's, but I'm wondering about people of today. Or if they've all been able to get contacts or corrective surgery. I suppose my reason for complaint is that I have to.
  5. Reg. is @ $2.47 up here (Canton, NY) Its held steady for a good 2 weeks... hope it goes down.
  6. [] Must be nice... We havent had that price here since, oh.... late 2003 - early 2004ish. 2.47 here in Canton, NY
  7. The car I had before the own I drive now was a 94' Eagle Talon (non-turbo) with a 2.0L DOHC 16V engine with a 4-speed automatic. When I bought it new the window sticker said it it would get an average of 27MPG on the highway. With a little tire pressure adjustment and engine tinkering (and no ill effects to either) I'm proud to say that the little girl is still getting 42..yes, 42 MPG @ 85+MPH!! and has over 120k miles on it. The aerodynamics of it is incredible. My 3.2L V-6 doesn't get that good but I'm workin' on it....it did get me 36MPG to Indy when the sticker said 28MPG. Can you share your engine tinkering tips, or are they top secret? []
  8. "light sweed crude damn you!' lol.. what does that mean?
  9. By asking this, I'm probably just joining in w/ the rest of the people that complain about it, but didn't the war in Iraq have some effect on the relatively quick rise in gas prices? I remember in August of 2003, just before I moved from NH, gas prices were still around 1.50-1.65, apx. Then within what seemed like a relatively short period of time (lets say 6 months?), the prices skyrocketed. I haven't looked at any timeline, but was there something specific that happened with the war during that time, that would've caused the prices to go up? I realize it's hard to pin point a cause, but it seems like ever since the war started, gas has gone up and never gone down to what it was before the war. I guess my overall point is, I wish the price would go down and level off. But it wont. []
  10. Your engine doesn't suffer. Letting it idle for more than 10 seconds simply wastes fuel and pollutes the atmosphere for no good reason. Keep in mind, just because an engine is specified to be able to run at sub zero temperatures doesn't mean that those are the optimum temeratures for it to run in.
  11. please don't get me wrong and take it personal cheaper gas = less responsible acts which is probably why global warming is happening expensive gas = all of the sudden everyone turns their engine off when they are not moving etc etc Good observation, Jay. Although it is one of the most noted factors of global warming, I would rather save my engine then let it suffer in cold weather. I don't think 10-15 min. of idling will kill the environment. Then again, I don't work for the EPA, so who am I to comment. [] Best regards and, hopefully, good gas prices. well that sorta mentality is sorta wrong. If one person does that and then comments to his friend sooner or later everyone does it.......... And what does everyone do, idle their car... so the I don't think the comment that 1-15 minutes will kill the environment. It won't but if 100 million cars all do it then it does far worse. I remember hearing something, if there were only 1 million humans inhabiting the earth, they could pollute as much as they wanted and the earth would be able to recover and heal itself. The problem is there is 5 billion + of us. My apologies, but your going to have to reword your previous post. It looks to be a contradiction in itself. You say that my mentality is somewhat wrong, in thinking that it is OK to let my car warm up for 10-15 minutes, but it's not ok to have millions of people do it. But my post was in reference to myself, not the world population as a whole. So, if my mentality, in reference to soley myself, is wrong, then what would be right?

  13. I think it's gotten to the point that MS is so obsessed with WPA that it's going to ruin Vista. They can't just sell the software on encrypted disks or whatever; they have to make WPA such a major aspect of the OS that it controls much of its functionality making it harder to do what you want. (I can't remem. the exact info about the "encrypted disks." I just recall a game being made where each key was specific to each disk and the disk itself was truly unable to be copied.) Theres always going to be cracks and keygens and tweaks, so why not just let it be and not bring the OS down? As it is, MS (and obviously Gates) makes plenty of profit from the business world in addition to the consumers. And I agree with previous poster; win2k was great
  14. Wow....... I couldn't even finish it... the driver sig. revokation thing was where I stopped. Thanks for the article though!!
  15. Wow your lucky! I havent seen that price in months here. Just glanced today, regular is @ $2.61
  16. Congrats and best regards!.. How do you like your new house?
  17. This is def. a long shot, but does anyone some suggestions of how you could look up the whereabouts of a vehicle based on the VIN? Obviously, as far as I know, the first route would be the DMV. They would prob have little to no information availbale or couldn't disclose much for privacy reasons. (But they would have a lot of attitude... [] ) My father had a truck from 1978 that I was hoping to find out it's current status. Thanks
  18. That is almost unbearable to think about.. This is one of those tragic events that seems impossible. (No offense to any doctors out there), but I do hope the family questions to no end anything the doctor(s) says that is unpredictable. Now days they tend to dance around the answers if they're concerned about being sued, which can leave the family in even more grief. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
  19. Nothing big here... (and prob pathetic, at that []) 1.) Met the woman that cuts (or used to) Shania Twain's hair 2.) I am related to a Titanic victim.
  20. I'm not one to bash other online users, but this situation was an exception. Ebay User ID: Hoilander I saw an auction for a 69 Camaro SS, for a very decent price, so I inquired why. With the type of email response(s) I was getting, he seemed very legit to me. I decided I would go ahead and buy the car. At the time I was in the middle of purchasing a car from a dealership and decided to cancel it seeing how the Camaro was cheaper, as well as having an unexpected financial issue. Anyways, I received the invoice from Ebay and it looked questionable. I continued to email the seller, however, up until the point of payment. It was the classic Western Union scam. He wouldn't take money in any other way, (that would be secure.) I knew then that the auction was just one big scam. Worst part was I lost half my deposit on the other vehicle, although that was sort of my own fault. I sent the email to Ebay just to have it verified and the news came back true- that it was deff. a scam. So, if anyone sees any auctions posted buy this Ebay user (hoilander), DON'T bid/buy! He does have positive feedback, but that was setup by other users involved in the scam(s). Good luck and happy Ebaying!! []
  21. I spose I should've also noted in my last post that I don't have to go with either just Polk or Alpine; I just assumed they'd be the best for car speakers.. does anyone have any other recomendations? Thanks.
  22. Hey ppl, I'm looking @ doing a car stereo upgrade in the near to distant future and am looking at two different sets of speakers for the front of my pickup. I'll deff. go to a store and test both out before deciding for sure, but I always like to hear what other people have to say. I'm comparing the Alpine Type-S SPS171A set to the Polk MMC6500. I want decent bass, but w/o the distortion for lows and highs. (I don't plan on getting a sub, because I don't want window-shattering bass and also don't have the room.) I will most likely get an amp, though. I've heard some say the Polks have good bass, but can distort, and vice versa for the Alpines. (If I had it my way, I'd get Klipsch, but obviously can't..[] ) Just looking for some positive/negative feedback Thanks!
  23. I know this has no relation to speakers in any way, shape or form, but if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. For anyone in NY state, I was wondering if the DMV form, MV-80L ( http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/forms/mv80l.pdf ) could be used instead of getting any eye exam at the local DMV office? thanks! .. sorry about the stupid quesiton..just wanted to see what ppl thought
  24. I know this is a bit of a stupid question, but does anyone know of a way to integrate Klipsch speakers into their car audio system, like use the in wall speakers? I wish Klipsch designed car audio products; I'd buy them in a heartbeat.
