Apparently, depending on the moron genius in the White House seems to work well for you.

So funny how the left loved him when they were clamoring for donations and interviews for three decades. Then without permission of the deep state he runs for president and now everybody hates The Art of the Deal. Hilariously hypocritical.

You have a great point.  No matter what the disease, do you want to trust people coming from other countries into the US without the states being the front line of defense.  The key areas on the east and west coast should be a clearing house, not a pass through.  Considering all the folks coming through international airports in LA, NY, Atlanta, Miami and key high tech areas in states like TX, AZ, and such, should have a higher level of preparedness than places like South Dakota.

Michigan has allot of China owned automotive suppliers coming through the airport. China Communist party university students as well. A large majority of airport workers live in Detroit. Years ago the separate international terminal was closed and international travelers are immediately exposed to domestic travelers. 380,000 China Communist party students attend USA universities. So many lobbyists and spies from China. It is all absurd to trust the communists.

Another thing. The states and local governments are responsible for preparedness. They failed miserably so the federal government had to step in and help.

Now some of these states are wanting bailouts when they were already operating in the red.

States who come in greatest contact with international travelers in great numbers should have invested in preparedness. For decades the world has been giving the China Communist Party a free pass on their crimes because of gluttonous profits from the slave labor. CDC and NIH were so conditioned to the lies from WHO and China they seemed disconnected in January and beginning of February. I read about Taiwan human to human contact data in January and thought something odd was happening.

  4. It is still crazy acres months after getting the Topping D70 DAC that I can BT 96kHz from my android phone to the D70.

Great variety, unobtrusive DJs and big soundstage.

Just download their app to your phone. I sync it to my Ford Flex car stereo as well.

Public radio associated with the New York philharmonic.

I got allot of words flying around in my head these days. Music without words works for me.

I was going to add that I would rather hear EVERYTHING than have it done in secret. And yes...the mainstream media is completely ridiculous. Sad, that they choose to destroy this country for whatever reasons.

I considered it normal business brainstorming from a 70 year old guy working 7 days a week for two months and not sleeping well. I say stupid crap more than I would like.

Two that were not on my Radar, I like what I have read about both. Two different price points. Both have balanced output which I need.

    Thanks for the heads up!

WQXR classical public radio in these trying times is very relaxing. I am still captivated by the BT quality at 96khz. The balanced and HDMI inputs are reviewed well although I have not tried them. I just cannot get into MQA. When DVD A died it irritated the crap out of me. It is s mental block.

No idea if this e bay unit has any credibility.

I have used the VPI for years and like everything in my system. Disc cleaning seems like the next endeavor to explore.

Not as bad as it seems? Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of oilfield workers who will be laid off, and the drilling companies that will fail. Puts us back on the OPEC udders until barrel prices get back to at least 50.00. My old employer, HPIDC,  will be toast, I am betting.

This is dangerous to petrochemical economics and  infrastructure. More scary than Covid.

  9. Been busy and distracted. My Channel Islands DAC which was 10 years old stopped working in December. I was interviewing with Asahi Kasei last year. Really liked the AK4497 chip reviews I was reading. I run TV through the OPT, CD through COAX and high resolution radio by bluetooth. The Topping D70 to me is a step up in realism and soundstage from Channel Islands.

The Topping brand models are getting some traction here, as observed here recently...

Although I am only using the COAX and OPT inputs of my Topping D70, it is the best DAC of 7 I have owned in the past 18 years.

Vocal Harmonies, acoustic guitar, snare, ride cymbal, Piano attack, massed strings / brass from orchestra. All my toughest challenges to PCM 16 / 44 digital seem to be no issue for this DAC.

I interviewed for a position with Asahi Kasai AKM microdevices in recent months and was impressed by the company. I wanted to make sure I had the best in AK chips in the new DAC. The implementation of the two AK4497 chips was beyond my expectations. For $ 550 USD with BT ten years ago you could not gfet these functions and would have had to spend at least 4 times this much on a DAC of comparable performance.

On the down side owners manual is too small and does not address BT pairing. I have not tried USB yet. Having too much fun playing all my CDs again.

For example Simon and garfunkle early LP glockenspiel or similar instrument sounded more cohesive in the soundstage instead of just background filler.

I have the tipping DX7S myself and I LOVE it. Amazing for the small chunk of change it will run one on sale.   Yes, amir and the crew over there make quite the interesting read indeed.  Very helpful community. Congrats on your decision/purchase.

Have you found instructions or used BT mode? I cannot recall if BT is offered on the DX7.

Topping D70 was ordered by my wife. Keep everyone posted.

Audio Science review made a big impression on my wife and I. After 37 years of putting up with me and my passions I let her make the final choice. In her early years she played flute, bassoon, organ and a bit of piano. After playing 40 or so CDs through the Topping D70 it is amazingly better than my perhaps in need of repair MSB LinkIII with monolithic power supply of the Channel Islands.

No jitter fatigue at all. Easy to locate vocals and instruments in space. Paul Simon, EC, Stills and NY Martin guitars sound spot on. Snare and ride cymbal sound realistic but not edgy. Piano note attack is close to well mastered analog.

Best 500 USD I have spent on audio since my dearly departed H H Scott LK48 17 years ago.

The Chi Fi D70 is an option to be considered for OPT and COAX PCM.

I have yet to try BT, USB or DSD performance. BT pairing instructions are not clear.

It is my opinion that a DAC should be as transparent as possible, save the coloring of sound for pre's, amps and speakers, they are the ones putting the music in the room, a DAC is making a signal. Once again I highly recommend checking out Amir and his DAC measurements over at Audio Science review.  You'll be surprised how poorly some very expensive DAC's measure and how well some budget ones do.

  14. The power supply on my Channel Islands seems to have died. It was about 11 years old. Using my old MSB Link III with Monlithic power supply with non functioning sampling board. It is 16 years old. Both have Burr Brown chips.

For a job interview I studied AKM DAC chips. Certainly a Mytek or Benchmark would be great but pricey due to my forced early retirement after 25 years. Still looking for a job at 59.

My wonderful bride of 37 years said I can spend 500 USD or so on  new DAC. The Chi Fi phenomena has passionate folks on both sides pro and con. The Topping D70 seems to have good AKM components.

    What others should I consider?

  15. As you can see by my signature I am a tube guy. AARTO one of the respected members if this forum has had excellent comments about the Masters Series from NAD. Should do well for low maintenance in an office. FORTE 3 if you have the room. Best book shelf on lead filled stands with a sealed sub ic room location is an issue.

I know Dave is still involved but less publicly. The eltracs as a finished horn are very labor intensive.

Dave is one of the smartest members I’ve meet online and we’ve become friends over the years.

The culture of the forums had shifted over the years to being less open to the cottage industry.

I can only assume that there were multiple factors influeencing his decision.

How can you contact him? I would like to "rehorn" my Belles in 202o mid year.

Saw Elton John at Olympia with Kiki Dee opening, back in the 70's at Olympia Stadium, home of the Red Wings then, I'm sure the tickets were less than $10. The best concert I have seen in a long time in Detroit was, surprisingly, TOM JONES at the Detroit Opera House last year. Fantastic show! He had a great band, great guitar player. He did all the hits you would expect and some you would never expect. He still has a powerful voice at almost 78.

My girlfriend at the time won the tickets, which were worth about $250 each. There was not a bad seat in the house and the sound was terrific. She told me she paid $500 to see Paul McCartney and was disappointed at a much larger venue.

I actually worked for the Michigan Opera Theater in the mid 90's and photographed the Grand Opening of their Detroit Opera House, so I was actually PAID to be there. All the top people in Michigan were there, Ford, GM, Chrysler, Presidents, Michigan Governor, Detroit Mayor, etc. The best seat were going for $10,000. My wife's sister was a Ford Motor Exec, and she was in the upper balcony "cheap seats" at only $3,000 each. It was an all-star show. I got some great shots of Luciano Pavarotti on stage, since he was the #1 draw.  Great show, totally goose bumps at all the great voices, including a choir. I was even invited to the after party at the Detroit Athletic Club, where some of the Opera Singers got on stage with the Jazz Band, while I drank Cabernet and cut up a Filet Migon! I got the last shot of Pavarotti sneaking off with his girlfriend, getting into a limo with a stupid looking fishing hat on, as if I wouldn't notice he was leaving, LOL. All the other photographers were too busy, but I was lucky to run down the hall after him and get his face sticking up above the car's roof right before he got in.

But I agree about the outragous prices of some of these concerts. I REFUSE to go to big indoor venues. I'm strictly DTE or Meadowbrook these days, and I won't pay more than $50, which is what I paid to see Jeff Beck, Paul Rogers, and Anne Wilson together in one show. THAT was totally worth it. But, yeah, I'll take concert Blue Rays any day.

Olympia was interesting. I saw Jethro Tull there just months before it was torn down. Ian was awesome. Barrimore Barlow and Martin Barre were equally as good. Being a west Michigan guy now Meijer Garden is fairly priced.

  18. Supply and demand shows these prices can hold up. I will not buy them. For $600 I can buy lots of LPs, great dinner out and an awesome bottle of wine.

My wife would prefer a weekend away or some new Amish Mission style furniture.

  19. Yikes! Downsizing is tough. My Chorus IIs have been in storage since 2012. I prefer the simplicity of tube separates or integrated. Tube receivers are complex and not many techs enjoy working on them.

Although I have never owned RF7s, I never disliked listening to them.  Cornwall and KLF 30 and oddly K Horns were the only poor sounding Klipsch demos I have heard in 40 years. The RB75 I always considered with my 12 inch sealed sub.

From a historical standpoint PWK being involved in the design of the Chorus II would lean me in that direction. Scott has my favorite phono section of any vintage tube amp, although k have never heard a pilot. Fisher being a distant second place.

No wrong decision here as long as you get the crossovers rebuilt.

    Good luck.

    Rick
