The dock, Ipod, Klipschorn...

Can I toe in the Klipschorn so that 25 inches of one wall would be enough for the K horns. Because then I would have 4 corners and 2 on the side where no neigbour could feel animated to dance like crazy...

I listened to a pair of 60th aniversary models a few days ago in a room that was perhaps a little smaller than mine. The amps was a Nad M3. Last time I heard it bi-amped with Marantz SM-11 I think. Although it was very nice the session with the Marantz amps was still better (especially the highs which were not as bright and the bass) . But the Khorns weren't perfectly in the corners.... Nevertheless I think you cannot do better than with the Klipschorns if you want lifelike, energetic and thrilling music with natural bass.If you have other priorities other speakers in this price range are propably better. The only disadvantages for me are the price and the weight. That's why haven't decided yet... But what I know now is that my room isn't too small and if I am reasonable I shouldn't have problems with my neighbours I guess....

Thanks for all your answers so far :-) So I guess the room would be okay but what about my neighbours. Don't you think that they will ring at my door all the time when the Khorns play? I mean not neccessarily because of how loud they play because I can regulate that but because of the bass which is stronger and deepper than the RF-7 bass...

Hi, I think about buying a pair of anniversary Klipschorns. I listened to them and they were the best speakers I have ever heard. Now i could afford a pair (although I am a little hesitant because of the sum) but I wonder if it works in my room and if it is reasonable to use Klipschorns in an apartment building (it't pretty new though and the walls are well isolated so that I have no problems with my RF-7 system (i can listen pretty loud) I have only 2 neigbours, one above me and beside/behind me but behind the wall where the Khorns would stand. The room is 20x14ft big and 8,2 ft high with carpet (soon). I can imagine that it sounds great in the room but I have doubts concerning bass and that it could be too dominant. So what do you think and what experience do you have with Khorns in not so big rooms? And what would you consider yourself as the best solution for a room this size? The Khorns would stand at the ends of the 20ft walls by the way and there are 2 corners for them.... Thanks! Mojo

Hi, surrounds are not that important for me. I am thinking about going without surrounds and ordering the Cornwalls instead. The RF-7s are great (although I don' t have a good seperate amp yet) but I feel like I need a step up.... Then I would use the Cornwalls for 2-channel and the RF-7s for homecinema (with a not so good projector then)...

I have bought the RF-7s again and want to give them an adequate amp. I once had the gread sweet sounding Creek Destiny amp with them but now I want to try something different with more power. As I read that Rotel works well with Klipsch I thought that the RB-1080s together with my Yamaha RX-2600 would be a good idea. I don't have the possiblility to listen to the combination but I would by the RB.1080 used and sell it again if I don't like it. So it would be nice if you could give me an idea about the sound the Rotel delivers with the RF-7. Thanks! Mojo

As long as you are happy while being ruined....[] I got my RF-7s (and the RC-7) today. They are really beautiful and after 5 minutes of accomodating to the sound ( In the last few months I only listened to "normal" speakers in shopws...) I was happy and didn't know how I could "survive" without them a few months.... Although I have to power them with a Yamaha RXV-2600 at the moment and I remember how the great amp Creek Destiny sounded with them... This is quite a difference and I think I have to spend some money again. Can anyone tell me how the Rotel RB-1080 sound with the RF-7s? You said that the RC-64 works well with the Cornwalls.Then I assume that the RC-7 would also work or am I wrong? And then the RF-7s would work as surrounds when I should get the CW III I guess ( until I maybe buy used reference surrounds...) Although I am happy now with the RF-7s I think I could be in heaven (and ruined) when I also have the CW III for stereo... This would be the perfect Klipsch apartment.... But I hope my sanity wins...[]

Werner Enge seems to be nice but I had to buy the RF-7s used from a private guy because they aren't available in official shops. As I already had the RF-7 I can say that they sounded well with a Yama 2600 receiver (the highs were a little shrill though) and with a creek destiny combination they sounded amazing and beautiful (the highs were not a weakness anymore but a strength...). This time I could imagine trying rotel....

Thanks for your answers. Tomorrow I will get the RF-7 in cherry with the RC-7 :-). I couldn't bring myself to spend so much money without listen to the Cornwalls. But just in case I will be able to listen to them in the future and like them: Can I use the RF-7s as surrounds and the RC-7 as the centre then (I only use movies with 5.1/5.0)...? Mojo

Just to resume this thread. I have an offer for the RF-7s + the RC-7. They would cost 1700 Euros. The Cornwall IIIs would cost 2900 Euros. Would they (the CWIII) really be worth the additional bucks? I mean I could invest the difference in rears and a subwoofer or in a projector... Cheers, MojoX

Thank you vor your replies. I live in Germany so it would be difficult to visit someone of this forum with the CWIII and I don't know anyone who owns the Cornwalls iin my area. To listen to them I would have to drive 7 hours by train which I don't want because it would be easier and cheaper to order the CWIII and send them back if I don't like them. At the moment I tend to order the CWIII. The problem ist that if I buy a RF-7 I could easily buy a good Full HD beamer as well. When I buy Cornwalls it would also be possible but a center and rears would be difficult. But I learned that it is better to get the best and than save a little to get the next tthan to buy all things needed at one time and therefore cheaper things.... I could imagine that I like the CWIII very much because I like full natural sound with lots of bass. But I don't know if my neighbours (one beside me and then only some neighbours above me in a well isolatet pretty new house (with my RF-7s I never had a problem although I listeneed pretty loud) could be disturbed... And considering the blind test: The speakers may have not been level matched but as the CWIII are very demanding considering amps and likes tube amps you could say that even though the amp was not fitting the majority liked the CWIII more... So my decision is pretty clear now: If I don't find a sensational offer for the RF-7s in the next days I think I will order the CWIII (if the offer I got is still valid).... By the way: I could get the La Scala II (used) for a lower price than the CWIII but I think that for my music (mainly rock,indy/alternative) they are not the right speakers....

I will have the possibility to listen to the Klipschorn next week. Perhaps I will get an idea of how the Cornwalls sound?

I prefer to have a small car/motorcycle and big/ good speakers as the opposite ....[*-)]

I am sure the RF-83 is a very good speaker. I will try to listen to it in the future. The problem is that the next Klipsch dealer is pretty far away and I don't have a car at the moment...

Hi, I am in almost desperate need for new speakers as I sold my RF-7s a few months ago (as I needed money not because I didn't like them). As I like Klipsch alot I want to stay with this brand and as I thought it would be good to top the RF-7s the CWIII came into my head. But I don't know if the Cornwalls III would be a step up. What I liked about the RF-7s was the life full sound with lots of bass and with the right amp I liked the clarity of highs as well. For hometheatre they were perfect. So when I buy new speakers I would also need to buy a centre and perhaps rears which are not so important imo. With the cornwalls I would buy used Heresys which are not more expensive than an RC-64 for example but the price for the CWIII is double as high as the price for the RF-7s... So if I order the CWIII I would have the possibility to send them back if I don' like them. The question is if should risk having a lot of work with the CWIII if I send them back or if I should pay half as much and get speakers which I know I like very much.... BTW: I listen to rock (Queen, Pink Floyd,Doors etc.. , alternative (Smashing Pumpkins,The Hives,Mando Diao ,Björk etc) and pop (Norah Jones,Katie Melua, Coldplay etc...) And stereo is more important to me as hometheatre... It would be nice if you could give a few suggestions.. From what I have heard the RF-83 is not as good as the RF-7s so I think they are not an option... Thanks!

Hi, I can get the Klipsch sub for the price of the SVS PB-12 Plus. I have Klipsch RF-7 fronts and an RC-64 center and want to use the sub for 70% movies and 30% music. What do you think would be the better choice considering that the weight and the size would be a considerable disadvantage for me. Thanks! MojoX

Hi, I want to buy a new stereo amp (currennt one is the yamaha rxv 2600) for my RF-7s. The Marantz PM-15 I will listen to tomorrow but the others I will have to buy first and if I don't like them I would send them back. My favourite so far from what I read is the Unison Unico... So if you have experiences with one ore more of those amps it would be nice if you could tell me about it. Thanks! MojoX

This is my last thread for the next time :-). I will listen to the Marantz PM-15 tomorrow but not on my boxex (Klipsch RF-7s). So I would like to know how the Marantz sounds with the RF7s. If anyone has experiences with the combination please tell me about it. Thanks! MojoX

Hi, I have the RF7s since 2 years and use them with the Yamaha receiver RXV 2600. But now as I have saved some money I want to invest it in a good 2 channel solution. I would think that a tube amp would be good but the shop or the sales man from the shop where I bought the RF7s and which makes good conditions for me says that the solution with the monoblock amplifiers from Audiolab together with the pre amplifier 8000 q would be superiur or would kick ***. So before I let them send to me I would like to know if you have experience with the products from Audiolab or with monoblocks and preamplifieer in general... It would be nice if you can say if it could really be a good solution with the Audiolabs. Thanks in advance! MojoX
