  1. I just looked through the links. The first one grabbed my interest a little more than the second link.

These dogs are beautiful. This is definitely a breed I would consider adopting. It seems as though they get along well with children.

Thank you for providing the links.

  2. I have never heard of this, but it would be invaluable if it works out that you get to inspect the package prior to the funds being released.

Where did you hear about this service?

Who holds the escrow money? Is it a company, or the individual you are purchasing from? Is there a way to "check out" the escrow service? How do you know they are legit? Once inspected how long does it take for the "escrow service" to release the funds?

Oh, I am sorry, you were looking for answers, not questions.[;)]

BTW, that is a really nice pic you have for your avatar. I just noticed it, is it a new avatar?

  3. Hey guys, I am able to pick up a pair of Cornwall II's for 850 bucks. They are in excellent condition. Is this a good deal? They will be driving my bottlehead 2 watt per channel Single ended triode amp... Thanks...

DP, welcome to the Forum. Like Jay said, you may be able to get a little better deal, however...if the Cornwall II's you are considering are local to you that is definitely a big plus. You do not want to have them shipped to you.

    Excellent condition another big plus.

All in all, it seems like a good deal, if they are local and in excellent condition.

Cornwall's rock...pay the man, bring them home, set them up and let us know about your adventure!!!

    Again, welcome.

  4. BTW, just like dtel it was propane (sp?) and oxygen in plastic baggies, not coke bottles. Anyone ever seen or heard those kind of "bombs" when they explode? They leave a nice size hole in the ground.[:o]

I guess you put propane and oxygen from a blowtorch together??? How did he set it off?? what method [:P] does he still have all his fingers?

I'll never forget the day dtel set one of those off without my mother knowing. I thought she was going to have a heart attack, and my dad just stood there LHAO. It scared the cr*p out of my mom. It was funny, not to mention deafening.

Dtel does love to make sure your heart is still working. I wonder why none of our girls will help him when he is doing electrical wiring? Come to think of it, I refuse to help him also. We have all been intentionally shocked one too many times.[:o] No wonder my brain short circuits sometimes.

All I know is...you put a little bit of oxygen and little bit of propane in a plastic bag, like a potato chip bag or plastic baggie. I think he would use toliet paper (like a fuse???), run like he*l and wait for everyone to jump out of thier skin and start screaming at him. Then he would start laughing.

Yep, he still has all of his fingers.

Seems it is something he learned while working in the shipbuilding industry.

I am too chicken to mess with this kind of stuff, so he will have to share the details with you.[:o]

I will let him confirm the details when he posts a little later.

  5. Closest they get to DFW area is Bossier City, La. Dang! It's not real far, but pretty far to go for a concert and back.

Bossier City is real close to Ruston, LA. My youngest daughter lives in Ruston.

It looks as though they will also be coming to the Beau Rivage Casino on the Gulf Coast. That would be a really nice venue, it's not too large and would be a great place to see BMG.

  6. I once punched in their dvd for a quick listen & just couldn't get my arms around it...think i'll try again.

    Arky,

BMG may need to "grow on you". Once they do, you will really enjoy listening to them. I am with Coytee, every time I watch the DVD I wonder "what did I just see".

FYI, all ages in the house seem to love them. Maw Maw who is 73 thought they were very entertaining. Buddy and Allie who are 6 and 5 respectively love for Paw Paw dtel to play BMG and the twenty to thirty somethings really like them too.

It is not a DVD concert we watch "all the time" but nonetheless IMO, it is one of the better recordings, both audio and video.

  7. My original pair has the brown and my more recently acquired pair has black. I kind of prefer the brown myself, oddly enough I think it helps blend into the room better than black. If you find brown for Academy let me know, I'm not sure they had that option. Maybe we could trade? Edit. Mine are Forte II's, I'm not 100% sure they are identical (size, magnet location, bevel, etc) but we could see, or maybe someone knows for sure?

Forte I and Forte II's are identical in size. I almost positive they match up exactly, but I will check when dtel comes in. The Forte's are mounted close to the ceiling and I can't reach them. I will let you guys know within an hour, unless someone answers you sooner.

  9. Scoot on down to the French Quarter. Pretty easy in & out. I believe the trolley is back operational. The Garden District is/was beautiful. Pirates Alley

The Ole Absinthe House, Preservation Hall, Pat O'briens...lots to do & see within a few blocks.

    Sputnik,

The French Quarter offers some excellent, out of the way hotel experiences and beautiful architecture. You would be visiting at the perfect time of the year. Our weather is usually in the 60's to 70's during March and not rainy.

The trolley is back in operation and offers a wonderful chance to visit the Garden District. It was not affected by Katrina, nor was the French Quarter. If you have never been here now is your chance.

Once you get to the French Quarter you wouldn't even need a car. The French Quarter is full of art studios, museums and historical sites.

The D-Day Museum is world class.

You also could tour some of the Plantation Homes, a few even double as bed and breakfast. The Plantation Homes are awesome.

And of course, as alway dtels and I are happy to meet new Forum friends and show them around our beautiful city.

The St. Louis Cathedral, which is the oldest cathedral in the United States, the Cabildo, The Aquarium of the Americas, I-Max featuring Hurricane on the Bayou, Audubon Zoo, City Park. A riverboat ride can serve as transporation to and from the Audubon Zoo. Our zoo is awesome. All world class attractions.

The cemetaries, as gruesome as that sounds offer some beautiful architecture as well. And...who can resist beignets and coffee at the world famous "Cafe Du Monde".

The Gulf Coast is only about a hour from New Orleans, with world class casinos.

We would love to have you and the Mrs. as our guests.

  10. In case some of you missed it, BECAUSE I DID THE FIRST TIME I READ IT...Christmas was DTELS WIFES BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMA! ( I know its being posted late on here but I was there at your house to share it with you!! )

    Love you! ~JEN~

Thanks Jen. I think my birthday went relatively unnoticed with all the holiday happenings here on the Forum. However, most of my "special friends" did take note and wished me a Happy Birthday.

Kiss the girls and tell hubby I love him too.

    Mom

BTW, Jen, how do you like the countertops?

  11. Hey Fini,

Lowe's carries Aquamix, but not the "Gold Series". We did call Aquamix and they said we would have to order the "Gold Series" from a dealer in Florida. Dtel really wanted the Gold Series because it specifically covered "food prep areas". However, in an attempt to get the grout sealed ASAP we opted for the Aquamix product Lowe's sold. We bought and applied it today, three coats. We will see how it stands up to the "water test" after 24 hours, if it doesn't hold up like we think it should we will go ahead and order the "gold series" out of Florida. Thanks for the help.

    You are a sweetie!

BTW, I sure hope you, the wife and the girls make it to Indy in June. I miss you guys! Tell all I said hello.

    Christy

  12. Okay, I am willing to vouch for your "upstanding moral character". Is this where you want me to post?[;)]

I don't know about the "crazy ne'er do well" but I am definitely in the right place, right?[*-)]

    Now you have me confused.[;)]

  13. (you wanna go toe to toe with a REAL Pyro Dtel??!!) lol

Coytee, we don't have pictures to prove it, but here's one for you.

When we first purchased our six acres of land it was basically overgrown brush, weeds and pine trees. Dtel and I would come out here on weekends and clear about a 1/2 acre and pile it up. Our future neighbor, whom we affectionately call "The Mayor" would stop over every weekend and tell dtel, "I would torch it, let the fire clean it off".

Well, after the third weekend of cutting, chopping and piling...I bring dtel a couple of sandwiches for lunch, with a drink and some napkins. He says, "Go on get out of here, go next door (other neighbor)." As usual, I was going on and on about something and he looked at me and said, "Get out of here". Of course, I said some choice words, got in the truck and went next door.

The neighbor friend and I sat down at her dining room table (which overlooks our property) and within five minutes I see a six acre wall of flames heading towards us. It seems as though dtel took "The Mayor's Advice" and torched the six acres.

My neighbor friend almost had a heart attack. She was screaming and hollering that dtel was gone burn the entire neighborhood down. I was trying to calm her down and tell her don't worry, when the flames reached about fifty feet from her front porch and went completely out.

Seems dtel recalled the ditch which ran between our properties and used that as a fire line. I'll tell you six acres on fire at one time coming at you is something to see.

The reason dtel wanted me "to get out of there". Seems he lit his napkins (provided by me) and dropped them all along the edge of the property. He had already dropped the first two napkins when he started yelling for me to "get out of here".

  14. And Christy, I know you don't think this, but I want to be sure it's said... no one is picking on anyone here (you all) but this stuff gives you a single chance to get it right and multiple chances to get it wrong. Any time you get it wrong the results can be really bad and no one wants that for anyone.

I'm still a bit nervous using diesel as if the fire is already warm/hot, the diesel can ignite very quickly as its sprayed on. Gasoline??? I'd rather NOT have a fire, than use gasoline. I don't even want the stuff in my garage for my lawn mower.

Best way I've found for me so far, is buy a garden type, pressure can and fill it with diesel. Use a propane torch to light fire off and then spray diesel from a distance if needed, to help, or walk flames.

    [:D]

I do not think anyone is picking on me and I fully understand the consequences of "playing with fire".[:o] As a matter of fact, I don't "play with fire", that's dtel's job, so ya'll can pick on him.[;)]

Having said that, let me add this. Coytee, a good friend of ours, an elderly gentleman was burning brush as he cleared his property, he threw gasoline on the fire using some kind of can. The fire backed up all the way to his neck and caused third degree burns.

All joking aside and I can't speak for dtel, but having lived with him for twenty eight years and knowing his "pyro tendencies" I believe he is extremely cautious. Even with extreme caution accidents can occur and I fully understand that also.

  15. wot, couldn't find any smaller sticks to start the fire? lol

We put on a bonfire like this once a year at church. We gotta get permission from the fire department since there are so many houses nearby, but it's all well controlled. I'm sure the heat was killer within 10 feet of the blaze [;)] There's always a seperate small fire (more like just hot coals) for roasting marshmallows.

We actually roped off a thirty five foot circle around the fire.

  16. Run that H/K like the red headed stepchild that showed up on your porch she is....

    Keeps her joints loose.

    She like stretching her legs.

    ROCK ON, dtels!

Like dtel said, that H/K probably thinks it went "back in time". It gets a real work out around this house. Thanks a million Arf.

  17. Groomlake, Groomlake's wife, Groomlake's daughter and Groomlake's son made it to town around 4:30 p.m. on 1/1/07.

As promised the dtel gang prepared dinner for the Groomlakes. After some initial conversation and dinner we retired to the living room, which of course resulted in "sharing audio stories" and listening to Klipsch. Groomlake's family is well versed in Klipsch. Even Groomlake's daughter, who is a sophomore in high school praised the high standards of KIipsch. Quite an impressive family.

Seems Groomlake's love affair with KIipsch goes back to his military days, when he owned his first pair of Heresys. He was surprised after a listening comparison of the Forte II's and the Cornwall III's. He commented that although each pair of speakers has differences, the sound quality from each is in fact superb.

Groomlake dropped a little package off to dtel for use in our garage. I'll let dtel tell you all about it.

Seems he also had the opportunity to visit a couple of Forum members while in Little Rock. He was impressed with some of the work Bob Crite's is doing and really enjoyed his visit with Daddy Dee (all I could say was "Of course" to both of those comments).

We asked why he didn't post much on the Forum. His reply, "Dial Up". He is in law enforcement, and even their office is still equipped with dial up. Seems Okeechobee County in Florida only has about 35,000 residents. He hopes in the near future to have access to high speed internet service.

We did share all of our stories about the Pilgramage with him and urged he and his family to come to Indy. Seems his entire family is very active in their local 4H program and that may present a scheduling conflict for him, as state competition is in June.

Groomlake extended an invitation to the dtel gang to visit he and his family in Florida in July. Looks like we may take him up on the offer.

Once again, and as always couldn't have asked for nicer people to visit. You can't liking the folks on this Forum.

  18. dtels wife... My apologies for hijacking your thread. The tilework was extremely well done and it is very pretty stuff. Smart to go with a larger tile too. That's one of my beefs about mine. There's alot of grout line to manage. Watch the frying pan juggling and enjoy. Speaking of frying pans do you have a good fried chicken recipe you'd be willing to share? I use Paula Deans now. It's good but a little messy and dangerous. Burnt the hell out of my hand deep frying. You only do that once though.

    Oscarsear,

I was kidding about "hijacking" the thread. I am very happy with the tilework, it was a difficult job for the tileman. Like I said, dtel constructed the cabinets and countertops according to space available and our needs. We knew whatever countertop we eventually used would have to be "custom installation", either done by us or someone else. I am extremely blessed to have good friends for neighbors. Seems like we have always had great neighbors who became life long friends. There is a lot of grout to manage, but we are going to use the product line Fini recommended. It seems Aquamix's cleaner line maintains the grout as you clean.

BTW, Fini Aquamix's Gold Line of products does not seem to be available at Loew's. We are going to see if any specialty tile stores carry the "Gold Line".

As far as Fried Chicken recipe, here goes...no precise measurements here just wing it...Peanut Oil is the best oil to use for this recipe because the thick batter on the chicken will burn before the chicken is done. Preheat peanut oil. Place appropriate amount of flour in a large bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder and cayenne (not a lot) to taste. Once flour mixture is mixed to taste, place some of the flour in a gallon size Zip Loc bag. Combine eggs, with a small amount of milk in another bowl. Completely cover piece(s) of chicken with egg/milk mixture, drop into Zip Loc bag flour mixture, shake well. Remove piece(s) from Zip Loc bag, again dip pieces in egg mixture, again drop chicken pieces into Zip Loc bag and place in preheated peanut oil. This is a "Double Battered" chicken recipe and provides a crispy crust on the chicken. (If you like additional seasoning you can season chicken before battering as well. Use recommended frying temperatures for any fried chicken recipe. Hint...a meat thermometer is essential to preparing any type of meat, especially chicken.

This recipe is not precise and is excellent for those who desire a crispy crust on thier chicken. The double batter seals in the moisture and doesn't allow the chicken to "dry out" when frying.

  19. I agree with Tom. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee don't ever have gasoline anywhere NEAR the fire. I can't find my pics here at home (I know I have them at work). I started a "bonfire" about 100 times larger than that from a slash pile some loggers created. Thing was probably over 100' long, 50' wide and maybe 30' tall at it's peak. I started it with less than 2 gallons of diesel fuel AND didn't start it until a day when we had rain the ENTIRE night before and the morning OF the fire.

Christy... lay the law on them!!! You want toasted marshmellows, NOT toasted Dtels!!

Sorry if I misunderstood any facts and over reacted. I just take safety about as serious as anything and using gasoline.....[N]

I can assure you dtel was extremely careful with the diesel and gasoline. If I am not mistaken Coytee, your "slash fire" probably had lots of kindling (smaller branches, leave, etc). Most of this bonfire was constructed using small (believe it or not) oak trees that were cleared for the construction of dtel's sister's new home around the corner from our home. As you can see from the first pic, most (if not all) of the branches/leaves were removed before constructing the bonfire. For some reason, unbeknownest to me, dtel did not put much kindling on this fire, maybe because of the week of continuous rain prior to New Year's Eve.

As far as "laying the law down", when it comes to fire I don't have a shot... I told all of you a long time ago that dtel is a pyromaniac[:@], I guess you didn't believe me.

Everyone was shocked that it took dtel so much "fuel" to get this thing going and then it hardly stayed lit. The firemen in our area know dtel on a first name basis.[;)]

  20. if ya set those up lincoln log style (criss cross) and made a proper fire lay out if it, you could have started it with a handful of straw, not 11 gallons of fuel.

I don't know about that Colter. We had a LOT of rain the past couple of days. I don't think a few bales of straw would have started that wood it was so wet.l
