  1. Sorry Forrest but I was addressing his needs. He clearly asked in the next to last sentence in the opening statement whether KLF30's will run on his Techniques receiver. My answer to him was for him not to discount the KLF's for a "home theater speaker". I didn't think price was a giant issue and if you play your local authorized dealer right, KLF's can be had quite resonably. Here in my area the 30's were out the door for $1350, the 20's for $1050, and the 10's for $750. Now that would be including tax. Not to bad. The C7 is $450 out the door. All you really have to do is get a couple of ads from the internet from reputable dealers with prices and tell them I would rather buy them from my local dealer than mail order, and they will try to match the price as best they can. An example of this is my last purchase. I showed them (Sound Advice) that the C7 sold for $400 on the internet and shipping was $35. They couldn't match $435 but would sell it to me for $450 tax included. I grabbed it up. I didn't mind the extra $15 for dealing with someone face to face. Well, I think I rambled on long enough.
  2. Keith, I did a lot of listening comparison with my Polk SDA1C's but never did a real test between these two beasts until tonight after you asked for an opinion. Here's one: Them big boxes are heavy!! I was using Steely Dan Gaucho, Ricki Lee Jones Pirates, and Bolling\Rampal's Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano for comparison, however, I wasn't A-B'ing it. I had to drag my butt off the couch and change out the banana plugs. To my ears the low end between the 2 is to close to call. Mids- again very close but slight edge on vocals to the KLF's. Highs were definately favored by the KLF's, however, a slight tweek on the treble (I keep sound level flat) adjustment closed that difference. Now I am thinking about returning the KLF's and just keeping the KG's. Thanks Keith. Just kidding. I still think the $1350 I spent was worth it.
  3. I did listen to all the Klipsch speakers at my local dealer (had all but the Heritage line)between the RF's, RP's, and so on and found that IMO the KLF's produced the best musical soundstage between them all. I know this is the Home Theater section, but home theater isn't just dialogue. There is plenty of music to be had. And if you do listen to music dvd's, ie. Steely Dan, Talking Heads, Clapton, Vaughn, etc., it is just like being at the concert. Got my KLF30's for $1350 a pair, my C7 for $450, and haven't regretted it yet. Do not overlook the KLF's in your speaker hunt.
  4. You guys are probably right. The price may come down some, but unless the new stuff completly blows away the old stuff, the old stuff should at least maintain a lot of their value. I guess the best way to look at it in the Legend line is to see what happened to the Epic series. The Epic stuff is still highly coveted by many and sells for high dollar on e-bay when posted. I not only have the KLF30's but I also have a pair of KG 5.5's and they still draw quite a good dollar when listed on e-bay. Well thanks for the reassurance.
  5. I have been reading on this board a lot about the "classic Klipsch" speakers, such as the Belle, Chorus, Heresy, etc., holding their value for many years after production. My question is: Will my new KLF30's and C7 have the same type of fate? Not that I'm anticipating a future sale, but to know they won't suffer the same fate as a new car purchase would be a little reassuring.
  6. It is exactly the CT 150 that I have. Walked out the door w/ a demo unit for $450. I have the crossover set for 90Hz but it still will rattle your teeth. Wanted one of the higher end Velo's, but I would have had to give up my first born and I just got her trained to clean the house so it was no go. I do feel that I under utilize the KG5.5 rear speakers. My music listening is always done in 2 channel stereo so they get used for home theater only. Of course Steely Dan in DTS does exhibit the caliber of the KG's which makes it all worthwhile.
  7. Sorry 'bout that Boa. Wasn't angry just trying to get my point across. Will probably end up keeping the 30's and have a system that is almost entirely Klipsch. I have one of those cheap ($450) Circuit City 15" Velodyne subs, but it gets low enough to knock stuff off the wall. Will power all speaks with my Yamaha 2095 for now but am wondering about stepping up to an Outlaw amp which pumps out 250X5 with a 4 Ohm load. Was gonna get a Sunfire Grand Cinema Signature but at close to 4K, its a little out of my league right now. But first thing next week or the one after, I will have a C7 for my center channel.
  8. quote: Originally posted by mdeneen: Polk SDA? To make a global statement that Polk isn't in the same league as Klipsch is both foolish and uninformed. I have done a lot of (ear)search and know the my pair of 12 year old Polk SDA1B's have a much wider soundstage than the Klipsch but they require a much larger amplifier than I'm willing to spend money on right now. I sold a pair of Martin Logans when I acquired the Polks because the sound was more concertlife like. This is in no way a critique of Klipsch because throughout the years of concerts and other live events, I like the "in your face" concertlive feel the Klipsch give you. And the Logans weren't the only pair of audiophile type speakers I have owned. Also had a pair of Maggies, but again they require a huge power supply and take-up a lot more floor space than my king size bed. My original point was, however, if it was worth waiting for the new line for a dramatic increase in sound quality or would the wait be in vain because the difference in performance and sound would be null? Sound is subjective, so please subject. (Whatever the heck that means.)
  9. So I guess my question would be; Do I return my recently purchased KLF30's for a pair of RF7's due in May, or keep them? I have 30 days left to demo them and am not sure the $1400. is worth cost since my Polk SDA's sound darn good too. (BTW reason for aquiring them was for the full Klipsch experience. I have KG 5.5's for the rear and will purchase a C 7 for center.)
